Haha I know right, the amount of face palming I've done, laughing at situations and what he's said and being absolutely elated when he's completed something is really entertaining. Like some of the deaths we've all done it and are relateable on so many levels, then its hillarious as he dies to the same stuff that you shouldn't die to yet completely no hits some of the hardest bosses to not take damage on is incredible, the way he sometimes picks up something, never uses it, or will replace it for something terrible despite him experiencing it a thousand times haha. The funniest one is he hasn't figured out what ball of bandages dies or pretty fly or cube of meat ha yet gets saved by them in tonnes of runs.

​​@@kylerivera3470 some active does indeed have passive effect, like the pony, but these are rare. Book of belial, book of rev and book of virtue all have a passive along with the active effect. Moms trinket box also have a passive. And in a very technical way, the broken shovel and glass cannon also have passive effect when not used, but thats another story :P theres others i see that does stuff while not being used but they'd need to be used for it to take full effect (like the jar of flies and similars)

He doesn't register a lot of audio ques nor pickups sometimes haha, I loved his dark souls series,the amount of items he missed by killing stuff then never noticing a drop or missing an obvious ladder was incredibly funny to watch and dying a little inside because i felt bad for him haha and its hilarious when chat roasts him like "Carl Blind!" Because some of the stuff he misses is like blatently obvious and practically slaps him in the face but goes passed it 😂

There's something truly special about being completely lost in a game like Isaac. I know sometimes chat and comments will make it seem like you dying to something like the Greed button in a strong run is a bad thing, but those are the very experiences that this game is known for and pushes you to learn the mechanics! This is an ultimate experimentation game that I have loved every second of watching you make you way through, win or lose, learning or not. I will say, though, some time from now (like, quite a fair bit in the future, like when you've gotten to most of the endings at least), the mod External Item Descriptions is pretty much a must for the game to shine on a level that is entirely unique to Isaac. What I find so fresh about the game is that experimentation with items has two phases: the first time you use it and try to learn what it does, and when you start to learn what specific and special interactions and quirks it has with other game mechanics. External Item Descriptions is amazing for that second thing, but I still wouldn't touch it until you have a general progression and game sense to where it won't ruin the fun for you to see what the items do yourself (also afaik they're considering adding it to vanilla eventually but even then I kinda want it to be an unlockable). That mod only really has a couple fringe cases where you actively have a tangible benefit compared to, say, just opening the wiki for every item you get, and I kinda wish it didn't tell you what items did/are called if you have never picked them up before, but I would definitely say the positives outweigh the negatives substantially once you feel like it's a good time to try it out. Excited to see more runs in the future! Your sense of wonder and fun is palpable in a way I haven't seen in ten years of Isaac watching :)

after seeing krampus for the 'first time' a few rooms earlier, he gets the lump of coal from an item room and says 'oh krampus item' when he sees it surely something you would randomly just guess, especially finding it for the first time in an item room

@@rank944 Krampus punishes naughty children at Christmas and a lump of coal is a typical naughty child's Christmas present so it's not at all weird that he'd comment on that after seeing the two straight after each other. He probably said it without even considering that the two were mechanically related in the game. It's honestly kind of wild that given everything that's happening in these runs you think Carl actually knows more than he's letting on - he barely remembers the things he encountered in the previous run.

@@rank944 There's nothing post-hoc about thinking someone might connect a lump of coal with krampus - anyone with a basic knowledge of Christmas traditions could make that connection. When combined with the rest of the gameplay and (lack of) knowledge shown it's many orders of magnitude more likely that Carl made the connection naturally than that he's faking how much he knows about the game.

Gets Binge eater then proceeds to unwittingly pick the HP upgrades that make him OP as hell then proceed to stop picking up HP items because he didnt want too much health haha. Carl the anti synergist. I love watching him get so damn lucky on the runs like the combos of items he seems to get. What im looking forward to the most is when he watches them back after he understands what they do and realise how lucky he was but also how dumb he was with certain things (because he was learning not because hes actually dumb). I'm excited to see you learn this game! I know it can be incredibly frustrating at times but I hope you pull through. Personally I wouldn't recommend the item descriptions mod as I also enjoyed learning the items bit by bit. To give a serious reason though, I think it's probably because they're cards he doesn't ever really make use of so the connections between name and the effect aren't being made very strongly. When cards do things he cares about he's much more likely to make a strong connection between the name and the effect.

It looks like you're on the new Repentance+ beta that released yesterday. I would recommend disabling it for now since you probably wont be playing the new online mode and it adds some bugs and is incompatible with mods if you ever want to use those. Better to disable it sooner than later though if you plan to though because it uses an alternate save data location iirc, so if you revert back to without it then you'll lose any progress you made while the beta was on.
