Marshall came up with one of the best, most enduring gambit lines of all time, one that is still playable for super GMs today. Capablanca beat it over the board. Unreal. A masterpiece and a historic game for opening theory.

I sort of assumed from the title that Marshall won. Not so! The commentary brings the game to life much better than reading a list of moves with "!!"s and "?"s., and endless variations in brackets. Mato just tells you the moves, explains the key moments in a clear way and shows what might have happened if thing had been different.

+Mahmoud Hachem The original gambit needed some tidying up, but the modern Marshall gambit remains one of the most formidable gambit sequences in chess... That Capa found a way out (even in the old gambit line) is testament to his genius.

Gnwekor Agrwshe I beg to disagree English grammar guru! Review in dictionary also means analysis. Mato doesn't merely present the game. He does some deep analytic calculations as well. If you wanna watch basic presentation, better yet download the PGN's from popular games and watch the presentation yourself.

Concerning when Marshall resigned, there are other possibilities left that were not discussed, but none that could defeat the string of checks into checkmate: After Rook takes Bishop & Rook to A8 Rook to E8, Queen takes Rook - back in check. Rook to F8, Queen takes Rook - back in check. Nice ending!

Capablanca.

@ 5:39 bf7 works then after rook captures on f7 the white rook on the king side can check the black king on e8 forcing the black rook back to f8 and capturing with either rook or Queen and white would still win the game. That was the second mate variation, you only covered one

MatoJelic on the position at 5:29, i have an idea.. what if you take the f7 pawn with the light squared bishop on b3? then black is forced to recapture it with rook takes on f7 and then white plays rook to e8, check. the only defending move possible is rook back to f8, then white captures f8 with his queen and it's check mate, right?
