My Mom Dropped Me On My Head who in your opinion was a more colorful player ?,max or Mikhail Tal ?!...this is the first max game I've seen. I took up chess simply because I saw a lot of Tal games who seemed for me to: "take the boring out of chess"...I'll look more into this max guy after work today 😀👍🏽. I love "full yolo players" who can back it up. 😂 this might be my new favorite game!!

Andrew Garratt To be honest, I never saw Max' games, only this one and he got lucky at 6:30. I love Tal's playstyle, but you only see Tal's games on KZbin when he won. And yes, he lost a lot too.

+Magister Ludi Well usually someone that obtains his GM title , after scoring specific results at 3 tournaments on 2 consecutive years , he does have a ELO rating of 2500+ , but then as he gets older , after he is 45-50 years old , his ELO starts dropping , but the title is something that you do not loose , so you can see several 50+ years old players , that obtained the GM title when they were 25-30 (and their rating then was 2550) and now at their 55 they have fell as low as 2400. So generally an IM 30-35 years old is not going to become a GM , so his rating should be about 2450 , and he is not as strong as a GM 30-35 years old with a rating of 2550. But a rising IM of 18 years old (he may have got the IM title at 16) , getting better every month , at some point he may have a rating of 2500 , not having the GM title yet , he can be stronger from several 35 years old GMs that have reached their maximum potential when they were 30 and their ELO is still 2500 for the last 5-7 years. But that rising IM of 18 years , will be a GM at 19-20 , and 2650+ at 22-23 years. So generally what Andrew mentioned is the common thing , and what you said is the rare exception.

I'm just going "nah! nah!" in my head. Its like Max WANTED to checkmate this person by forking the Queen and King (which has been done but not easy to do). I mean its like he went out of his way to give up piece after piece and Black didn't even realize it. Schierstedt still probably doesn't realize it.....

Even though both sides made a lot of mistakes, Max Lange could have played: 17.Rf5+ instead of 17.Ng3+, which would be losing at that point. Followed by either 17...Kxg4 18.h3+ Kh4 19.Bf2# or 17...Qg5 losing to a lot of mating variations, like 18.Rfxg5+ Kh6 and 19.R(a/b/c/d/e/f)5#. :)
