I played Chrono Cross shortly after my younger brother died. I was isolated and alone. This game gave me hope because I realized the power of choice. It made me realize people live in their separate versions of reality. 加藤ざんと光田さん、心の底からありがとうございます
Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross are very close to my heart. This interview was just too amazing. Seeing Mr Masato Kato and Mr Yasunori Mitsuda together talking about their creation with the series made me very happy. What a nostalgic and enriching interview this was. Thank you Square Enix for this video and making the Remaster possible. And i hope next we see Chrono Trigger getting remade in the same way Live A Live and Dragon Quest III got and being remade. Also a don't forget Xenogears please ^_^.
Chrono Cross is my favorite game, the one that made me fall in love with RPGs and although I have finished many, none of them ever had a story, characters and message like this. The fact that they released a remaster, along with this interview made me happy in a way that I can't put into words. Thank you Square for remembering that you still have invaluable franchises besides Final Fantasy. Hopefully, in the future, someone can continue with Chrono Cross, with a new installment. That is, at 35 years old, my dream in terms of video games. They have made me very happy. Thank you to all the beautiful people who worked in the original and in this remaster.
Chrono Cross has my favorite videogame OST of all time, and I love everything Mitsuda ever did. That being said, considering the amount of questions related to music, I always found Mr. Kato to be the unsung hero of the masterpiece that is this game. From the starting poem, to the scenes he mentioned, to all those events from Cross that carry very deep meanings, way beyond typical tropes I found in the genre over the years. All of it shows the great sensibility behind Kato's writing. I started playing the remaster recently, and the dialogue between Serge and Leena at Opassa Beach hit me like a truck; completely new meanings from what I could grasp 20 years ago, just like you would expect from good art. Also, look at those storyboards! Those cool and iconic ideas that gave CC's intro the cinematic feel it is know for? All from Kato's mind. Absolutely brilliant. Thanks, Mr. Kato. Indeed, you surely helped me find some answers under those cerulean skies, thanks to the beauty you helped create.
That's the best game of all time for me. Mr. Mitsuda thank you for sparking the love for classical music in my youth! What a great music you made that speak to my soul! I listen to in from time to time even to this day. Mr. Kato thank you for such amazing story and dialogues! So much great characters! Endings! I am very happy to see this interview and that everyone having a good time. What a memories. Thanks for all the people that worked on it from the bottom of my heart! Greetings from Russia!
Chrono Cross is a masterpiece and a truly meaningful game. So different from most games. Almost more of an art piece than a game. There is so such a maturity to it, so much depth, so many things to ponder, and so many feelings it evokes. Late 90s Square was the best at making these types of meaningful experiences. Such games don't really exist anymore.

This is so awesome to see the legends that made Chrono Cross. It woudl be amazing to see a comback for Chrono series or even some kind of remake/ remaster for Chrono Trigger. Thank you Square and the original devs!
Thank you so much, Mr. Kato and Mr. Mitsuda for creating such an amazing piece of art. To this day it truly has a magical feel to it and there is nothing else like it. I think Mr. Kato nailed it when he said that there are some things that can only be created at a certain time with certain people and this is definitely one of them. I LOVE these interview series you all have been doing. This and the Live a Live one were fantastic. Also, the host does a fantastic job of moving the conversation along and keeping it flowing.
Thanks for having this interview, it provides insight from point of view of creators. it makes me be more grateful when playing this game. and this represents my childhood memories.

What an incredible interview! Chrono Cross is a timeless gem!
Thank you for sharing this interview and translating it! Chrono Cross is my all-time fav gaming ost. It has a beautiful variety of different sounds and every track fits the moment and environment perfectly. Great balance of upbeat and slower music 🙏🏻
Chrono fans are few, we will probably never get a new game. Let's enjoy these great games we got. Thanks to everyone involved in the production. I love Trigger and Cross so much. 制作に携わってくださった皆様、ありがとうございました. 私は両方のゲームが大好きです
I said it when I was 14 and I keep saying it now I'm 33: Chrono Cross is the best videogame I'ver ever played. It changed my life for the better. I could make a very extended argument on why it is so but, given all the things these incredible people discuss here in this interview, I just won't add any more words than that. If you haven't played it, now is the time. Just inmerse yourself in its world, and you won't regret it. It's a wonderful, memorable piece of art, made by a dream team in a time where videogames where full of love and risky but great artistic ideas. The plot, the plot, the world, the feelings... Best game ever! Greetings from Argentina! 👋👋👋

Thank you Mr. Kato and Mr. Mitsuda for this wonderful piece of art. When I think of Chrono Cross, I remember the sound, the warmth, and the fun times I had in my childhood. Chrono Cross gives me a whole perspective on how we interpret the meaning of life and the meaning of actions in our daily life. Thank you, just thank to both of you for giving a birth to a title that goes through beyond space and time! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Chrono Trigger deserves a full remake with a fully performed soundtrack. I'd settle for the same graphics of Octopath, fully voiced too 😉 I really felt it was a missed opportunity for Chrono Cross that they just kept the music as it was. Too bad Mitsuda-san didn't at least get the music performed. The concert versions with Millennial Fair were perfect!
