There was a larger commercial war going on in the post Templars era. This was part of it. Look into how the Templars raised money, what their involvement in the wool markets was, and the iconography of the Templars, particularly of the Templars who were responsible for the fleet of ships that disappeared sometime on the night before Philip of France and Robert d'Norgurey (sic), his Attorney General, had their warrant and notice of confiscation delivered. There is a lot we still do not know, and I suspect looking in the older records of the Cistercians and Bernard of Clairvaux could be profitable, as they were often partners with the Templars from their founding to the end. Having seen first hand how dirty the RCC was, it should not shock you to find they wanted none of this to come out- it has taken hundreds of years of pressure from outside the church to let academics begin the trove though 1600 years of the RCC's history. You might just see those cuff links in a far different light with this little bit of prodding.
@kimfleury6 ай бұрын
No it has not "taken hundreds of years of pressure from the outside to let academics begin the trove though 1600 years of the" Church's history. The first academics in the West were the professors who taught in Catholic universities, because every university in Europe was founded by bishops and religious orders. But what specifically are you looking for? Because you have to know that before you can look at it. It's not like the librarians of the archives do or should let any Tom, Dick and Harry waltz through the ancient stacks pulling out papers both bound and unbound. I doubt you would even allow some stranger into your own library, or even have access to your bookshelf to pull all the books off the shelves and clumsily turn the pages looking for secrets that you don't want the world to know. Never mind the idea that you might have carefully organized your books and don't want it messed up. Never mind the idea that you might have inherited the library and found it to be overwhelmingly unorganized, as the previous librarians put books wherever they found a spot. Both of these are the cases with the Vatican archives. There's actually video of it on KZbin explaining the procedures and requirements for accessing works that might be preserved in the archives, and the reasons for the procedures. In the past, items were stored wherever there was space, but a reorganization project is taking place, with investment in storage space and maintenance. Sometimes the thing you're looking for is just buried or not yet catalogued. It's not because they're hiding anything, but because you're dealing with 2,000 years of documents. But bigots don't accept reality when they can make a phony case for making their hated groups look bad.

Fragmentary joke, found in the Humour section of an ancient wing of the Vatican Library "A soaking wet bishop, the sodden Pope and a pirate walk into a seaside bar. The bartender, quite familiar with castaways and ship wrecked sailors, guffawed loudly "Why the long faces? You look as though someone sank your galley !" The bishop and the Pope grimace sourly and simultaneously point at the the pirate, and in unison both said "He did ..... " Sadly, the punchline has not survived ... "
