Big fan of 2000. I will never forget the pure joy of teenager me seeing a trailer in theaters for a new Japanese Godzilla theatrical release with Rob Zombie's Superbeast blasting. I also really liked the added father and daughter team driving around in the JP looking vehicle tracking and studying Godzilla like Twister storm chasers.

Hell yes! I love when Klayton makes Godzilla videos bc it’s so awesome to see his views and opinions! Godzilla 2000 I’ll always have a soft spot for bc it was one of my first Godzilla films! Plus I think it’s a great stand alone Godzilla film! Orga while he did spam the heal button during the fight I always loved the design! Really wish the fight wasn’t at night so we could see the detail and coloration of the effects more too! I have always been curious what he would’ve looked like if he succeeded in swallowing Godzilla whole and where the series would’ve gone! :) this was an awesome Kaiju profile Klayton! :)

Considering that in Godzilla vs. Biollante she tried the same thing, it's interesting that very few monsters in the Godzilla franchise came close to defeating or killing him. I didn't notice the change in color, but did appreciate the growth of dorsal spikes as it showed how Orga came closer to "replacing" Godzilla

G2K is definitely a favorite for me. I do however agree with some of the comments down low, the manga version of that monster and the Millenians are much better and actually makes him even more intimidating. Kind of a pity there was no continuity for the Millennium series since initially there was supposed to be a direct sequel to Godzilla 2000 called Godzilla Reborn with the setting taking place in Hawaii where he fights a Lava Bat.

Godzilla 2000 is one of my personal favorites in the franchise. It features not only my favorite Godzilla suit design, but also one of my favorite enemy Kaiju in the form of Orga. I remember actually being freaked out when he opened up his jaw and tried to swallow Godzilla when I first saw the movie as a kid, it sort of came out of nowhere and I hadn't really seen any real "horror" stuff at that point. In fact, Orga in general kind of creeped me out at that age, I remember discovering him from the Destroy all Monsters game on Gamecube which featured him as a sort of "secret" monster and just thinking "what the hell is this thing?". Great video man, I look forward to more Godzilla stuff from you in the future.

I love how this video gets uploaded when I just get done watching "Godzilla 2000". out of the original 28 films from Japan (Godzilla's original 50 year film-span), "Godzilla 2000" will always be my all time favorite. it has the best special FX work put into it and one of the best designs for Godzilla with his more jagged reptilian look and to me Orga is one of the most creative aliens I've seen in any movie because they don't explain hardly anything about him and only show what's in the movie.

I remember walking out of the 1998 godzilla film 2 years late and seeing signs for the 2000 godzilla in the same theatre. the thing is, even at that age, I had enough common sense to see that the two films were not related. One was its own stand alone film, and still one of my favorite films to this day, the other was a sequel that out right ignored 99% of the established lore and cannon because it ignored the existence of all other films except the very first one. And the fun thing about that, is that as young as I was, I had already seen all the other films. My dad and my grandmother were both very supportive of my love of monsters at that age.

Fun facts: This isn't Orga's only on-screen appearance. Like a few other snippets, you actually see Orga in the Prologue of Polygon's Godzilla Monster Planet anime film. You don't see him do much, it's in the prologue where they flash a couple monster silhouettes in the cityscapes. Orga has another mention in that anime films prologue novel, where Orga attacked a refugee camp in (Turkey??) and he DEVOURED OVER A THOUSAND REFUGEES

This is also one of the first Godzilla films I ever saw, and I'm glad for that because it does work as a stand-alone film quite nicely. Orga actually scared me as a kid- his appearance, abilities, mysterious origins and behavior worked towards a great movie monster. Another memorable aspect of Orga for me actually comes from his appearance in the video game 'Godzilla: Save The Earth'. In that, you pick a monster from the Godzilla monster catalog to fight all the others, who are bio weapons used by space aliens to take over Earth. Plot aside, Orga is in this game, and he is terrifying. His fighting style is that of a barbarian, he hits hard, does a ton of damage, and comes off as this freakishly strong behemoth. His energy beam weapon charge up sound is also pretty creepy. He has such a menacing appearance and is the final boss if you play the campaign as Godzilla: 2000. I always dreaded fighting him because of how powerful he was, and if you lost against him too many times, you had to start the campaign over.

He’s just gonna heal, so I need to make sure that he can’t heal from the outside in.

Yeah, but the 1998 Godzilla simply outclassed every other iteration, so much so that Toho shamelessly used the dorsal spine attack on submarines and- for the first time in a Toho film, showed Godzilla swimming. Swimming in the 1998 style. So they really owe a lot to the 1998 movie for injecting much needed ideas.

I grew up on Godzilla, yes even the cheezy Saturday morning cartoon from Hanna Barberra (which even included an episode where Godzilla fought Cobra, 5 years before GI Joe aired on TV. Sure the 70s versions were somewhat campy but as a kid, I couldn't get enough. Godzilla 2000 was a much needed installment that put the God back in Godzilla and I will always appreciate it for that!
@iandanielcassidy81262 жыл бұрын
The Godzilla of 2000 acted much like its predecessors, being animal-like in attitude. However, it is shown to intentionally destroy mankind's energy sources, as if it loathed the human race and its advanced science. Godzilla is sometimes shown to be shocked by certain things, for example, when he blasted Orga with his atomic breath, he was shocked to see Orga healing his wounds at a rate faster than his. Additionally, Godzilla seems capable of strategic thinking, as he willingly allowed himself to be consumed by Orga only to unleash a powerful blast from the inside of the alien, disintegrating him and everything in a close proximity. This Godzilla is more hesitant to retaliate against the military than the Heisei Godzilla, as he withstands an entire assault from the JSDF without ever fighting back, only beginning to charge his atomic breath after being injured by Full Metal Missile Launchers.

Godzilla 2000 is one of my personal favorites in the series and a very underrated film in my opinion. Orga is thus far the last “new” monster Toho has made (with a very good fight too I might add), and like Biollante I wish they made more new creatures like it. Also seeing G2000 in the theaters is a memory I wish I could live through again and I’d argue it’s one of the few objectively great English dubs in the series.

Godzilla 2000 is one of my favorites. It was the first Toho Godzilla I got to see in theaters and that's pretty special for me. I think the story is cool, I love Orga and the ship. I also really like Godzilla's design. I also think that the American version of the film actually has better editing and music choices. In the original, music was almost completely absent from the Orga fight which was a strange decision but the music used in the American edit really elevates the action.

@mamboo07432 жыл бұрын
Yup The Gryphon's design varies depending on concept art, however the original script mentions the monster has the body of a puma, the wings of a bat and a hydra-headed tongue composed of snakes. Stan Winston's model for the creature includes most of these features, however also includes hind feet featuring a mix of talons and cloven hooves, as well as large clawed hands on the frontal legs with spikes along the fingers and three crests on the back of its head. Created by a hostile alien race as a biological weapon designed to wipe out life on Earth

Granted Biollante was the first one to try to eat Godzilla, but Biollante still is unique in the sense that she is life in comparison who is death-as shown in the deleted scenes of the movie. Orga however, I always found amazing even as a kid watching this film on T.V. and I'm happy that I'm not alone being the only Orga fan-as he's never really talked about at all. I find Orga to be that subverted take instead of having aliens be the ones who rule and enslave whatever less technological powerful species they find-instead they are done in by their avarice and become something far worse than they anticipated to be. I always thought that they never took the G1 well-and that's why they become so horrifically mutated. Always will remember my first time when he opened his mouth and I literally jumped in my seat.

Yeah. While Godzilla 2000 isn’t first the film to establish Godzilla’s super regeneration factor (that being Godzilla vs Biollante), it really shows how damn-near indestructible he is. He can regenerate all manor of wounds within just mere few seconds. No matter how intense. Orga’s mission to absorb Godzilla’s DNA really makes a lot of sense. I mean, being able to regenerate with practically no limit, I’m in. Of course, Orga’s regeneration maybe able to heal just as fast, but not as well. He couldn’t regenerate his shoulder canon. That being due to his body rejecting the cells. Over all, Orga is my favorite Kaiju antagonist.
