I’m 66, figure it’s the last chance for me to scratch this off my bucket list. Had some camping gear, purchased a few things I needed and driving from Florida to Texas to see the eclipse. Already booked and paid for a site, can’t wait to go.

Be careful! I glanced at the annular eclipse we had last year and it burned my eyes, and you will only know when you see the crescent moon when you close your eyes. My vision is now back to normal but my light sensitivity is very poor. It takes me several hours to begin seeing indoors as my eyes are slow to adjust. Please be careful and don’t be a nimrod like I was!

I know that I'm not the only one for whom your comment here has rocketed back to the 'giving back to humanity' act by the ISS controllers every Christmas. Even though the youngest children in my family are far beyond fairytale truths and being older now, are of a different opinion, we all still rejoice in seeing Santa's sleigh coursing across the night sky on Christmas Eve. For a magical moment, we let go and marvel in the memories. The most powerful experience was about a decade ago when we all skipped down to the lower field at home which was dusted with fresh snow a~sparkling in the moonlight to boot. "Look, look you two, up there, d'you see the shiny thing moving towards us?" "Where? Wh... Oh yes. Wow! Yes. Is it Father Christmas and Rudolph daddy? Is it?" What do you think? Yeeaaahhhh! I can see Father Christmas, I can see Father Christmas. If I only remember one moment in the supposed life flashing before you film just before you pass away experience, I shall be overjoyed if I am blessed with a replay of this one.

If ever there were the genuine occasion to use the word awesome, this was it. If you have little people in your family, force yourself to look up on the internet which way to look up in the Christmas Eve night sky to spot Father Christmas speeding towards you from which horizon. The train stop in the middle of no where and we all passengers assist on a field with cows and birds and tress, and it was very emotional moment, the cows laye down all the birds stop to sing and there it was, like 1 very first new day on earth. The silence from the passengers witnessing that event were breath taking I am 46 today and I still have goose pump when I think about it. Its was spectacular.

A clarification on what an annular eclipse is, more specifically it is also known as "the ring of fire". Technically, an annular eclipse is a "partial eclipse" however, it does not look anything like a regular partial eclipse where the shape resembles more like a "packman" shape to a crescent shape than a thin circular ring which is the definitive characteristic shape of an annular eclipse.

Hi Alex. An annular eclipse is not the same as a partial eclipse. An annular eclipse is a special eclipse where the moon is further away from earth in its orbit - the apogee - and it does not cover the whole of the sun but leaves a thin ring or annulus around the edge.

I'm praying for good weather. I've planned a trip with my sister's family to go up to Northern OH, which is about 6 hours from us, and the closest in terms of driving. I've never seen one before but have heard that it can be a transformative experience. The next one in the US won't be until the 2040s, so the likihood of my seeing another anytime soon is pretty low, although if this one is as transformative as I hear, I may become one of those people who travel around the world just to watch the next total eclipse, lol!

Einstein had to chase eclipses all over the world trying to prove his theory. I wish I had the ability to do that but I do hope to be around to see the next one here in the 2040's. I got to see a total when I was a kid. Too young for it to be very transformative but it getting dark in the middle of a sunny day is quite memorable.

2:08 there is something special about an eclipse on earth. That’s because no other cosmic bodies are as perfectly aligned & designed to function in the way ours do. Exactly 108 lunar diameters can fit between the surface of the earth and the moon. Exactly 108 solar diameters can fit between the surface of earth and the sun. Lastly, exactly 108 earth diameters fit across the diameter of the sun. Someone built the moon.

Since moving to southern New Mexico, this will be the fourth eclipse I can watch: 2012, 2017, 2023, and now 2024. I was outside knitting a shawl when the last eclipse started. Surrounded by 100+ year old pecan trees, there were gazillions of crescent images coming through the leaves onto the ground and walls. I wondered if the eyelets (holes) in the shawl would give me images as well. *YES!!!* *Tons of dime sized crescents!* This is by far the geekiest thing I've ever experienced. Even NASA projects I worked on at Boeing can't surpass what "two sticks and string" can do. Now I'm looking forward to April with great anticipation. 🧶

I drove from WI to KY for the eclipse, and it would have been considered spectacular ANYWHERE in the known cosmos! We could see several prominences like tears of blazing ruby, and the corona was JAW DROPPING, the entire crowd gasped at totality. We even saw the rippling, and slightly disorienting "shadow bands" racing over the parking lot, and even our skin. I've been watching the sky all my life and both this even, and the May Aurora display were spectacular beyond anything else I've witnessed.

Your videos are too good as always, I never knew that the blood (red) moon was real, I saw the blue moon a few years ago, that was soo cool. The video you showed of the dark side of the moon moving across the earth looked like the Death Star orbiting us.. I’m still going to look out for the eclipse on April 8th even though I’m in the UK and won’t see it properly, I want to see the devil horns, I never seen anything like that before..

I seen the one in August of 2017 in Tennessee. This one is much closer but being living further north, April weather is highly unpredictable. It would be a last minute travel and we've decided to pass on this. I will encourage anyone who has not seen one, see one. It is absolutely beautiful and amazing. Our language is not equipped enough to describe the experience.

I got to see a total back when I was a kid. Our teacher had us make these boxes that we could safely view it. I recall it was kind of scary when it got dark mid day but it was so exciting. The entire school went out to the school yard to see it.

I live only 40 miles from the totality zone and have made arrangements with friends who live in it to watch from their home. Trouble is, half the population of my city of 900,000 people may go out on the rural roads to get into the zone, so I am _hoping_ I can get there on time.

1999 was the only total eclipse I've ever seen, it was in the UK. It was unreal.. as it got darker and darker, all the birds stopped singing, it got quiet, the atmospheric temperature changed and the wind felt different.. All the shadows from leaves on the trees had an eclipse on the ground! It was trippy as hell. People in fields staring up at the sky don't get the full effect I don't think.. I walked from one end of town to the other through some woodland and it was an incredible experience. I feel privileged to have seen one in my home town where I didn't have to leave the country at all. Also, just to add - there have been an unfathomable number of coincidences that led to humans as we are now - the dinosaurs needed to die off before mammals became the dominant species, the entire history of earth just for us to be here is insane.. but, the fact that the moon fits perfectly over the sun is also a bit spooky.

Bout to travel in April with my bro and my bestie. Couldn’t have asked for the best crew to come along with me and see such an amazing beautiful event. 2017 we had stayed home and had a partial eclipse which was still as amazing so I can’t wait to see the full eclipse. I cried my eyes out on a partial, can’t imagine what it would be like for the full.

I saw the August 2017 total solar eclipse from central Missouri near the center of the path of totality and was hooked. It’s WAY more exciting than anything else nature can offer. Everyone owes it to themselves to see a total eclipse if possible. As a Texas resident, I’d so excited for April 8! 🤩 Don’t have to travel far at all. 😊 Hoping to see other eclipses in 2027 (Egypt) and 2028 (Australia).
