Calling fish a "high maintenance painting" is hilarious. And accurate.
@lunakoala50533 жыл бұрын
I can do one better. Ever heard of nano-reefs? Salt-water tanks with usually nothing than corals and maybe a few snails in them. Super extreme high maintenance, as the evaporation alone wrecks your salinity in a matter of days if you don't maintain it. Also, everything is expensive. Nothing really moves in it. A fish tank, at the very least, is more like an 90's screensaver. A coral tank? Really just a 3d painting.

It's weird when someone claims they love an animal and keep it in a cage or tied up most of the time
@agonleed38414 жыл бұрын
Eh. Not really as I've grown to understand. Cause YOU may see it tied or locked..but that's probably because you're around. The world doesn't really view animals the way they view kids. I'd my kids are taken there would be FBI looking to find them. But someone took my dog a few years back and all I can do is put up posters and to all over media HOPING someone is nice enough to not just decide they will keep him. If they do, what can I do about it? So...I have to keep my animals tied so that you won't think it's so cute that you abduct him when he comes wandering by your house. Dogs want to explore and play just like kids. Is it ok for a person to just take a child? But it's acceptable for them to do that to animals. So to protect my animals and keep them with me, they will have to be tied or caged enough and at certain times because they are still animals who will venture off...as animals do. Then there's the fact that if it's not just a small cute thing, people can overreact or attack it, in which it defends itself now the human laws dictate that animal must die AND you go to jail or pay up a lot. So..the pet owner loves their animals. But they have to tied or caged because of YOU. You may steal it. You may hurt it you may antagonize it which puts yourself at risk and the animal.

Ugliest side? How? Because we evolved alongside other creatures so much so that their lives are improved by being around us? Dogs self domesticated because of the benefits of living with humans. Not to mention there's evidence to suggest humans and dogs might have gone extinct around 3 times if not for our close bond. Dogs and humans have literally evolved together for thousands of years to the point we both have changes to fit the other. It's a relationship that improves both sides. And to talk more to thinks like factory farming and shit, sure the way we treat these animals is horrible, but because humans find a use for them, they will continue to exist. If not for humans many of these species could have gone extinct and now they are some of the most numerous species on the planet.
@PrudhviRaj6663 жыл бұрын
@@mikoi7472 You can... it's a bit rich to oppress, experiment, maim and enslave a creature... and then tag them self-domesticated and celebrate the fact that they are not extinct at the end of it. And you say many animals were saved from extinction because of man? Well... I'm sorry to say that they found themselves at the brink of extinction in the first place 'because' of the intervention of man. And... you say many of these species continue to exist and are some of the most numerous species at present on Earth, because of man? Tell that to the poultry chickens that do not get to live more than three months. Tell that to the farm eggs that never get to hatch. Imagine the same fate for humans. Would you be okay with it? As you and a chicken are the same... both just a life form? Would it be fine to enslave you as long as you are fed? What do you say? Don't talk as if man was the best thing that ever happened to Earth? He is not the best and will never be. All we can be happy for is that so far he hasn't been the worst thing that happened to Earth. Mankind is an accident of Earth. It is yet to be seen whether she will recover completely, or lose a limb... or lose her life because of it. 🙏

Birth mortalithy in humans was very high some years ago), you maybe would do the same. But different than most animals, humans can controll their sex drive (most of the time) and are fully aware of the risk of doing sex. We just do it anyway, but then its shame on us. Eh, it’s a tricky spot. I only have a cat because I found it on the side of a road with flies all over it and a broken leg due to being spit out of an engine compartment it was hiding in. Now I have my own rough house and the cat has cleared it of mice and is nice to pet and look at. I don’t put it in costumes or even a collar, though I did have it neutered and vaccinated because the population of Street cats is too high already. I keep it outdoors mostly because he does well out there. I’m kind of secluded most of the time and sometimes I wonder if I like my cat so much because I’m neurotic and have social problems. I’ll say this video has a couple things backwards: leashes and restraints aren’t BDSM-themed, but BDSM is pet and total-control themed. To think the other ear is laughably absurd which makes me think this is a piss take. The other thing is that they bring up neutering like it’s wrong, when if we didn’t neuter these animals we would be worse for letting them populate all over the place, getting diseased, starved, and hunting small wild animals. All in all this is an interesting that brings up some truths about pet ownership but also some ridiculous slander. They should do one on why circumcision is still common practice mostly in America if they really want to hit hard. This is petty, no pun intended.

+David Cook No problem, David! Do you often find yourself completely devoid of anything worthwhile to do for two to four hours? Do you have a strong urge to usher a leather wrapped rubber sphere into a net with a hole in it or a designated rectangle? Do you enjoy competition that is largely based on predetermined genetic factors such as height or innate body mass that will completely outweigh any amount of training or determination? Well do I have the activity for you: sports! Yes, run up and down a carefully manicured lawn maintained with funds adequate to feed an entire 3rd world nation as you crash into other grown men ensuring that none of you will be able to walk properly past the age of 35. Not a fan of the outdoors? Perhaps basketball is your game where the tallest person in the room will innately outperform you solely for the fact that he can block all of your attempts to throw the leather sphere into the designated net, then proceed to effortlessly place the sphere in his own team's net, for whatever the fuck that proves. Don't forget about the world's favorite sport: Soccer. Nothing beats a game where the winner is determined by whoever can perform the most Academy Award winning displays of injury simulation before the clock runs out. Not a fan of the objectivity of placing spheres in nets? How about action sports! Yes, action sports where judges must carefully deconstruct the way one person flips his dead tree with wheels on it differently from another person and somehow does it in such a way as to be judged the winner. Yes, that flip was certainly flippier, you win my good sir, just don't forget to decline your drug test, not for steroids, you know, other stuff. Maybe all of this physicality is too much for you and you'd rather just relax a little after a hard week's work, how about giving eSports a go? Take everything you love about sitting back and playing a video game and throw it out the window as you strive to discover every programming error and balance issue and turn a once fun video game into all of the thrills of a Calculus worksheet. Then, after all of your hard work dissecting every element down to the core binary code, get completely annihilated by some kid in Korea that hasn't even hit puberty yet. Well, maybe playing sports isn't for you after all, but what about spectating? Yes, a spectator! Become one of millions of people that take the food out of their children's mouths to afford tickets to witness the genetic lottery winners bash and crash at the relative size of ants fighting for a crumb in an ant farm. You know what? Skip the tickets and instead sit at home and yell at a television while eating and drinking the nutritional equivalent of sewer runoff in hopes that your incessant inebriated yelling will somehow influence the people many miles away that cannot possibly hear you. Then, when your team wins, post about it all over the internet because you successfully sat at home yelling at your TV better than those other assholes in the next town. Yeah, screw those guys, they don't even know how to yell at a TV, what a bunch of losers. -Roger

yes because of millenia of domestication, try doing the same with any wild feline (cat)
@emeraldkat21678 жыл бұрын
Well fyi, my mom is 78 and has never owned a pet. A feral cat adopted her (I mean that). The cat was filthy, and part of a feral group near her home. But slowly over the course of last summer, the cat grew more interested in my mom and eventually went inside. My mom has never been able to hold it, but she can pet her. And honestly its been great for both of them. The cat was very small and underweight before and now looks healthy and happy. My mom was living alone for years and was even experiencing mini strokes before the kitty came in, and within 2 months her cholesterol and blood pressure were normal again. And to give cats one more benefit, we know they are the only animal to want to live with us. They domesticated themselves and there is even proof of this same thing happening with wild cat species in areas of the middle east and northern Africa right now. Its truly a companion situation where we both get benefits.
@EdithEsquivel8 жыл бұрын
Emerald kat yes, they are probably the only species that is with humans willingly. I care for feral cats in a public garden and before we managed to sterilize all of them, we noticed some were born feral and others naturally wanted to be petted. They have all this different personalities...

Emerald kat feral cat isnt a wild cat, sure cats and humans can make relationships that benefit them both but its only because of us that they are so dependable...
@emeraldkat21678 жыл бұрын
Michael That ignores the historical side of cats becoming domesticated. They domesticated themselves. In fact, there is currently two species of wild cats that are doing exactly what our kitty's ancestors did: move close to people for food and shelter. That's the cats domesticating themselves, not us imprisoning them...

18 years ago I bought a baby cockatiel from a pet store. I knew it was going to be a 20-30 year commitment. And so far, I'm right. In his 18 years, he has seen all there is to see. He's bored with everything. He has become bored of literally every bird toy on the market, and of every reasonably safe household item I can think to offer him, and of "pet T.V.," of the birdfeeder outside, and of his housemates. You can't remove a bird's genitals, and he wants to breed. But he doesn't understand that he's a bird, and I'm not going to give him another bird to breed with anyway, so he's frustrated, horny and angry. He shrieks constantly. He shrieks when he's happy, when he's mad, when he's startled and when the house is quiet, when the house is loud, and most of all, when he's bored. Which is all the time except when he's preening. He's permanently bonded to me and giving him to someone else would break his li'l mind. Don't buy birds, people. They are too smart for us. You think you know where you're gonna be in life 20 years down the road, but you don't.

It absolutely ruined my cat and it had a complete personality change it was a shadow of its former self. The hamsters I had as a kid spent most of their life’s trying to escape their cages and don’t get me started on dogs. I felt awful and it’s for that very reason I’ll never own another living thing again. It’s wrong and cruel on so many levels. More people need to wake up to this.

1. Slave implies that your pets are working for you, so captives would probably be a better word. Captives with stockholm syndrome. 2. Well, what are we supposed to do with our captives? They can't survive in the wild (Unless they're a tarantula or snake or something, but you still can't just release them). A wild pomeranian would be hilarious though. (Edit: This comment is a year old; I don't remember this video or agree with a lot of what I'd said. You can still reply if you like, but note that I'll probably ignore it.)

Ah, there we see the wild Pomeranian in its wild habitat! Stuffing it's face with dried-up scum found on the floor of some chicken nugget factory, it feeds. Now we see it napping in a spot of sun, while its symbiotic partner, Sally, scrapes its hands across the creature's digestive organ without it knowing. How beautiful, Mother Nature.

What if you're not financially stable enough to take care of a human child? Or not in a good place emotionally? Taking in an orphaned human is A LOT of responsibility. Taking in a an orphaned/abandoned kitten just requires you to feed it and make sure it's safe and healthy. You don't have to teach it about life, your psychological issues won't directly affect it... These two scenarios are not the same

This made me think about how there was a guy on the internet who asked for advice. Because, well you had a good relationship with his dog. And would play, feed, show all the affection in the world for this dog. Then one day, he opened the door, and fido did like any pet. He bolted. And was lost. Eventually after spending some time asking around and looking for his runaway dog, one of his neighbors found him and brought him back home. The problem was.the dogs personality did a 180. He refused to acknowledge him anymore, didn't wanna play with him anymore, didn't wanna cuddle. And only was interested in games that involved "treats" as a reward. He made it sound like the dog was side eyeing him. And sitting far away from him. Avoiding him at all cost. He took the dog to a vet, nothing wrong with him. He even said the dog had zero problems with people and was friendly to everyone BUT HIM, the owner. People said he probably brought home the wrong dog, or it was a "spicy" dog breed thats stubborn. And so his behavior is normal. But lets be honest..... This dog tasted freedom for the first time in his life via animal instincts. And now hes back locked in the house. Forced to be "loved". And desired by his owner. 😂

@@thehomemadedisease9485 *"Same could be said for people there, buddy guy"* Easily solved, make welfare for life available to anybody who wants it, as long as they agree to be sterilized. Now if their kids wants to sign up to support their parents, that's fine, if they have the same restriction. really being a pet is the best thing for most animals best quality of life, a nice place to life thats warm and keeps out predators food and water a place to use the bathroom and a way higher statistical chance of their cause of death being old age rather then disease, starvation, freezing, or being killed by another animal, they love you, yes maybe becuase you take care of them but its still genuine proved effection and you both benifit from it. you have a companion and someone to hang out with and they have a much better quality of life. But adopt rather the buy.
@PartStupid6 жыл бұрын
That is assuming a wild animal would not prefer to be wild and free and would rather prefer luxury like we humans do (which really is not an assumption we cannot make as we cannot ask them), granted our ancestors did forcibly "domesticate" them in the past so that doesn't really apply anymore. The video was more poking fun at the idea that we force bread these animals for generations and penned them and made them slaves to our whims and needs (it is just to think about how silly that is, not necessarily to condemn people for owning a pet). Also yes since this is the way it is it is always best to adopt homeless domesticated animals (as they are no longer wild they would prefer a home), but people shouldn't contribute to the forced breeding process which leads to genetic defects and disease due to poor genetic variation or even inbreeding only for the sake of massive profit for the breeder.
@Alknix6 жыл бұрын
@@PartStupid If they know what's best for them, of course they would prefer to be adopted. "Freedom" means nothing when you're starving, freezing and are being alive from outside and/or inside.
@PartStupid6 жыл бұрын
@@Alknix I'm a little confused. Are you saying a wild wolf would like to be adopted by a human? Or did you simply not understand what I was saying (I edited my original comment a bit, just added some details that may help... the top part was just me saying that wild animals, before our ancestors forcibly domesticated them, would prefer to be wild... heck some wild animals today that we save die in captivity due to depression or even completely unknown causes, or wont breed, ect ect)? But to be clear I do agree that the already domesticated after generations of selective breeding animals like dogs and cats do prefer to be with humans (but we forcibly chose and breed them to be this way though is the main point).
