Glad you pointed out Gohan not using his Great Saiyaman disguise in this movie, really bothered me as well and haven't seen enough people talk about it. I think it would have been much better if Piccolo didn't change Gohan's clothes at his house and to see Gohan get the call that Pan had been kidnapped and just dig around for his watch to give him his Great Saiyaman disguise. Then when he shows up to the RR base and has his fight against Gamma 1, either he gets the costume beat up or he gets pissed off enough and damages it while transforming into Ultimate form. At this point Gamma 2 joins in and so does Piccolo, but not before giving Gohan his Namekian battle uniform first. I think this would have been more impactful and it would have been cool to see Gohan fighting as a superhero against Gamma 1 and have not only them clash with fists, but their ideology of justice.

@D Reaper Yeah, they definitely have lost sight of what made Dragon Ball unique in my opinion also, and it goes well beyond the visuals. However, if you haven't watched *Dragon Ball Super: Broly* , I highly recommend it. In a lot of ways, it is a love letter to classic Dragon Ball and Z and definitely the crowning achievement of this new era of Dragon Ball. The nice thing is you don't need to have watched/read Super in order to enjoy it, of course many things have no context but the bulk of the movie doesn't focus on those things at all. It might restore a little faith, at least in what the potential of the franchise could be again.

Personally, I don't like it, both cause it's lazy in it's trigger (SSJ2 repeat, really?), It's coloring (MUI with red eyes instead, more or less), it's hair is so ridiculously long it becomes stupid looking, and, for completely petty childish reasons, I'm always gonna hate official transformations that give Silver hair, cause as a kid I came up with "The Silver Saiyan" as a transformation idea, lol.

About Gohan: even in dbz during the Tenkaichi Budokai where Babidi and his fellons appears for the first time, Vegeta say to Goku that "that super saijin form against Cell...thats was something differ of a normal SSJ....Gohan isn't even half strong of those days" with Goku who answer that "he stop to train to study"....so we can apprehend that Toryama always drawn that as a different transformation, but no one had understood it....as less people understand that the giant form of Piccolo was a bluff until Super Hero, for example, and that the power level is not the indicator a fight (think about when vegeta saids to goku "Jiren was strong as us in the Tournament of Power, the difference was HOW he uses that power).
