KZbin playback speed can only adjust in increments of 0.25%, but there are video speed controller extensions for google chrome that you can adjust up or down by whatever you set it to, even fractions of a percent. very useful for building speed and by far the best tool for learning from KZbin videos!
@nikhilt96714 жыл бұрын

Dean, as a teacher, what is your opinion on using tabs vs using only your ears/sheet music? Are tabs "cheating" in terms of truly learning the guitar?
@alejandrocastellanos90464 жыл бұрын
great to start developing hand positions and muscle memory but can turn into a crutch where you dont really know what notes you're playing, so besides doing that, focus a little time on discovering what you're actuallt playing and just listen carefully the dinamics between chords and notes, dinamics, etc. After that you can start training your ear slowly and just not use tabs anymore.
@DeanLamb4 жыл бұрын
I think building both tab reading and ear training are important. One helps the other, strengthen both for ultimate benefits

@DeanLamb3 жыл бұрын
Wait what am I doing?
@MaxBerson3 жыл бұрын
@@DeanLamb To be fair, you are completely outdoing me when it comes to putting your musical skills to work. Archspire is great, whereas I have never released so much as a B-side. So in spite of what I'm going to say, what you do clearly works. It seems like learning 2 seconds of music at time has a mechanical quality to it, like it's all a finger exercise. I often try to get familiar with the whole passage before picking up the guitar - tapping out the rhythm, learning to sing the line, feeling the overall contour. Once I have those aspects in my head, I can sometimes transcribe a big chunk without actually listening to the recording. Works for me, anyway. At the end of the day, my surprise is mostly to do with my preconceived notions of how professional musicians operate.
