One of my all time favorite songs. I still get goosebumps when I hear it. The message is amazing. I’m more of a classic rock and roll girl, but I feel the rap in this song is part of what makes the message more powerful. I pay more attention to the spoken words than I do when they are sung. I think it has just the right mix of rap and instrumental.

It’s not a “rap” record for Christ’s sake. It’s a pop record designed for the radio. It’s ignorant as anything to think this is representative of the most expansive, descriptive genre of music out there.

I was 12 when this song came out. It was 2 short years after 9/11. The first year was a year of unity. All of America came together with one common enemy. Then over the course of the second year it started to shift. People stopped looking outside the country and started looking in it. The neighbor you always smiled at you now avoided eye contact with. The lady at the laundromat that you'd been going to for 3 years who got your kids small little trinkets for their birthdays and taught you how to get fruit punch out of your favorite dress you now hid your kids away from. The friend who's dad took the training wheels off your bike you no longer spoke to. It was still fresh and fear caused prejudice and suspicion. Politics were tearing apart marriages and decades long friendships. Hate crimes increased ten fold against any body who looked like they could be. Men who had enlisted in the military after the towers fell were starting to come back broken battered shells of who they were before. Some didnt come back at all. Some came back in body but not in mind. News stories about inhumane cruel punishments being delivered by our troops over sees. An entire religion had been demonized by the acts of a handful of radicals. And people were so scared that they followed along with it, even started to believe it.........sound familiar??

It's like you said in your reaction they touched on it all and it's all true and definitely fits the the time we are living in today. One of my favorite parts of the song is at the end where they say "We only have one world", people are so divided more so now than ever and we need to find a way to come together and bring unity between us all because we only have one world and we all share it and the only thing I could add is we also have only one life, one shot at living the life we have been given, time goes quickly and using that precious time fighting, hating and discriminating is a waste of precious time, we need to fix what's wrong and bring unity amongst us all 🙏🕊💞

The message in this song is very relevant today, maybe more, as it was 16 yrs ago! WHERE IS THE LOVE??? Yes, if this song could be put in another "genre" there would be many more people hearing it. Although I don't know if that would make much of a difference BECAUSE we are a mess like we were 16 yrs ago. That is sad beyond words. Most songs are about LOVE in some way or another, yet many still are asking where is LOVE, is there LOVE etc. WHERE IS THE LOVE??? Maybe "one person at a time is what is changing" and it's just too little to see the difference from what I see...? I don't know. I do know that people seem "colder" and care less about their fellow humans. I watch people a lot and I see people "ignore" the homeless. I'm not talking about obvious drug addicts, I'm seeing a lot of elderly people that are/were "norma"l but just had a few bad things happen and they lost their homes or apartments. The ones with a car to sleep in are lucky! I think or dream, what if 10 people/families that have a good life would help ONE homeless person/couple get back of their feet, would THAT make a difference? WHERE IS THE LOVE??? I agree about this song being a "thought provoking" song in a positive way AND it's still allowed to play?!! We all need this kind of message to be seen and heatd everywhere. Not just in just a song. Although music is a universal language..??? Maybe it would/does help? WHERE IS THE LOVE??? I'm just dreaming I guess. I know if something were to happen to my son and mother I would have no one... then what if I get so sick I can't do or go anywhere, let alone get of the phone and look for government help when I can't cook an instant meal for myself? I suppose I would then I would find out if the few "good" friends I have would be as good as I think they are...?

It talks to me about how divided we are as humans. They point out the real reason being global politics and big wealth. Having different nations and ideologies is perfectly fine, but respecting each other is what we are missing today. At the end of the day, we're all humans. We're all brothers and sisters. Where is the love???

The World (Video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6S1fqKNjqx_hKM. The message for me was about the disintegration of society's values, Materialism becoming more common. It sure touched on terrorism, racism, gang crime, pollution, war, intolerance, it also recognizes the world as it is, inculcated with violence and hate. This song paints a picture of chaos in a broken world.

“People need to broaden their musical tastes”. You talk like this wasn’t played to death on every radio station across the world on heavy rotation. 😂😂 This is for all ends and purposes a pop record. If you’re trying to hint that this is representative of hip hop as a genre, you’re very, very much mistaken.

@@andyc6542 l remember when it came out. I agree with you. I'm one of those people that if it didn't fit into country, I didn't give it a chance. Let's Face It by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones has a very similar message to it, just in Ska form. So many songs over the years have pointed out the same problems in society, the lack of love for our fellow man is not a new problem, it's a very old problem. Even with decent leaders out front, there's always gonna be hate in the back, hidden somewhere. All we can do is keep spreading the love as best we can and hope that eventually everyone will get the point and stop the hate. Those who know love, know God. Those who hate, don't know him at all.
