Goddamn Magic Potion never leaves my head. Brilliant album. Yes, their fan base has grown and some of their soun has changed but I'm cool with it as long as they continue to make great music. They work well because they don';t make the same album twice. The same formula helped Pearl Jam survive for 20 years and these guys will do the same.

The setting sun of rock and roll lights up this last lonely band in its glare. Now comes the Long Night. We won’t live to see another dawn. Rock is almost done. Goodbye.

i've been on board with the keys pretty much since they got their start. They aren't sellouts but they changed their sound quite a bit. for people that were into them during the time of the first 3 cds it's almost a different band now. so it is a bit frustrating for those of us that were loyal when nobody else was loyal. at their shows now, if they play something old, people in the audiences don't even know the songs. i want them having success. but many of the fans came late to the party.

BEST BLUES ROCK OF ALL TIME

rubber factory ,brothers and thickfreakness are my favourite albuns...the last two just don´t have that black keys sound. People who just started to listen to them in the last 3 years just don´t know what the black keys sound is all about ...recently there is a lack of blues in their sound and that was what made them different ...that blues mixed with garage rock was absolutely beautiful
@emilbang1051
@emilbang1051 8 жыл бұрын
Well, I think that their last two albums are just as much holding the "Black Keys-sound", 'cause you know, they are the Black Keys, and they know far better than anyone else what their sound is like...

Bands change. They have to to stay relevant imo. If a band produces the same sounding music for a decade it can get stale. I personally love their older stuff like Rubber Factory and Thickfreakness, but their new sound is pretty good too. I personally think El Camino and Brothers were their best albums right up there with Rubber Factory even though they don't quite have that grit.

The Black Keys are my all time favorite blues band. The Big Come Up, Thickfreakness, The Rubber Factory, and Chulahoma were in my opinion their greatest albums. They started off as a rocking garage blues, dirty blues duo, and sadly they've changed in appeasement to this new hipster age. They used to go hard in their live concerts back when they were touring nonstop when they formed the band. Now it seems like they have gone away from their blues roots, and while I'm happy for their success, I hate that they changed so much. Their newer albums have been crap. Magic Potion and Attack and Release were their last good albums, but Brothers is okay. They had live shows where the audience would sing along to Thickfreakness and Hard Row. Man those were the good times. I hope that one day they will release a blues album like their earlier works of art, with just Pat and Dan.

Definitely Not Dingse! I'm happy for their success, and I know that they are doing what they wan't to. Their music changed because their taste changed and their life progressed. They can't keep playing the same things, they experimented. I just don't like that they changed so much to a sound so overproduced compared to their older albums. Their older albums were raw and they did it with very little recording equipment. I still love The black Keys, but I don't like their newer sound. They rocked harder when it was just the two of them.(Opinion)
@NotDingse

Nermin Meskovic That sounds in no way wrong, but I listened to their older stuff and apart from The Big Come Up, nothing was outstanding. It sounded roughly the same and was a bit too muddy to me.

The Big Come Up: Nice Thickfreakness: Kind of average. Rubber Factory: Fucking Awesome. Chulahoma: Fucking Awesome. Magic Potion: Good Album. Attack and Release: This shit is nice, but are some songs that i dont like very much. Brothers: A little overrated, but its an impressive album. El Camino: Fucking Awesome. Turn Blue: Really good album, has some epic tunes and others that are just boring.

But it's missing bass! Where's the bass? Don't they know that bass and drums are the 2nd most important thing in rock (after vocals)???
@Diax1324

@TheWoWadicted
@TheWoWadicted 9 жыл бұрын
Well, no? Black keyes understood that they needed bass and hired a bass player. Having no bass guitar is like having only half an engine... It's not going to work. I'm going give props to Jack White for his creaativity in making his guitar sound as fat as possible, but I can feel the absance of the bass. The sound is just too flat and rough. In the only song anyone really knows of them (Seven Nation Army), you could almost believe that Jack is playing a bass, because he has so many effects on it.

@cheasepriest
@cheasepriest 8 жыл бұрын
jack white is an amazing musician and a genius in his own right (just a shame he sucks as a human being). But he was a different kind of thing to the keys. white stripes were very based on the aesthetics and limiting themselves in ways to make them try and expand their palette through necessity and the colour scheme was taken to extreme to try and make people interested. It was always more about jack showing off. the keys are pure loud dirty garage rock.
