after listening to a few of these I vaguely recall hearing some of these back when MIDI music was the go to format for music.

For me, listening to the orchestral recreations these days, it made me fully realize for the first time what an absolute genius of a composer he already was even back then. The things he did with the ridiculous limitations of MIDI are absolutely insane.

You may be right. This retains original hypnotic and alien feel the og had but with real instruments. This is one of few tracks that imo didn't work well in remakes, this is prog rock, not a symphony you know.

That's not actually the black mages, it's from Distant Worlds. The Black Mages never recorded 1WA.
