I have been waiting for so long for this baby to bloom! It's so beautiful and intriguing! I must have one...but I don't think my climate would be very welcoming for this orchid. I'll just admire yours for now!

I love,love this orchid!. I got mine last August in bud from SVO. The flowers lasted about 1 month and had fragrance in the morning and evening. It reminded me of licorice and cherry cough medicine. Not an unpleasant smell. It had a very short for fancy, about 1 month, and is now having new growth. It should be ready to re pot in about 1 month. I can't wait to see how it does in my first growing season. I'm happy yours is doing better for you. Happy growing😊

I have had my orchid from the grocery store about a year. I have lots of new leaf growth and Ariel roots. I just don't see any flowers spikes I am waiting for my new pots to arrive, I'm going to transfer her into a 5-in new pot. How long until I should expect flowers, spikes? And at what stage do you start adding support

Hi Danny, beautiful orchid! I recently purchased the After Dark SVO Black Pearl. Right now there are no leaves. My question is: will the plant have new leaves once a new pseudobulb grow? Can it never have leaves from an old pseudobulb? Thank you, Danny I love your videos. I learned so much from them and you helped me save most of my orchids that were in terrible state and didn't know what to do.

Does you make your Witchcraft orchid go dormant in the winter like other catasetums or let it go dormant whenever it wants? SVO makes it sound like it's every winter (with changes in watering), but I've seen other videos that let Witchcraft go dormant on its own time and may go longer than a year without dormancy. Is it better for the orchid to go dormant once a year or is it ok to let it go longer than let it go dormant when it wants to?

Hi Danny! I just purchased a Monn. Millennium Magic a few days ago, so excited as this has been on my list! I had it inside 1 night until I figured the best place for it. It’s now outside in bright shade. This morning I noticed the top 4 buds that were in a cluster were turning a funny yellowish color and looked like they were almost liquefied. They did fall of unfortunately, I have a few lower buds left. Any idea what happened?? I’ve had bud blast before and they just looked like they had dried up, not liquefied. 😳

My black orchid is also opening flowers for the first time! Mine is Fdk. After Dark 'SVO Black Pearl'. After Dark came first, I think Fred said he produced it in the mid 2000s? But to my eyes they look quite different and I want to get a Millennium Magic too.
@southpark55556 жыл бұрын
It is quite different in flower appearance when compared with Monnierara Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft'. Growing both kinds will be great --- to have some variety. Fdk. After Dark 'SVO Black Diamond' would also be excellent to add to a collection - but, unfortunately, Fdk. After Dark "SVO Black Diamond" has never been cloned. Fortunately, the original miracle - SVO Black Pearl was cloned.

I have one of these and it is in my west facing bathroom and it has grown new leaves and a pouch of slow fert on it that only gets used when I water once a month. It has yet to flower. I am wondering if you have any lighting conditions advice. I love in zone 11 in the Keys. Thanks Danni, you are the best!

I wonder if the aroma is from camphor. That smells like a solvent and is used in many medicines and ointments. Its a waxy resin that commercially comes mainly from Cinnamomum camphora, a large Asian tree. It's also present in Rosemary, some mints and a basil, at least one aster and a few Plectrantus cultivars. In the USA it's a main ingredient in "Vick's Vapo-Rub", a salve for congestion, etc. Check you medicine cabinet for ingredients to see if any of them match the aroma you get from this Astounding Orchid.

It is a nice specimen. I haven't acquired one of those yet, but will likely acquire one. If possible, and if you haven't got one (some) yet, definitely also try Fdk. After Dark 'SVO Black Pearl'. Witchcraft has its own unique and distinctive and interesting flower shape. Black Pearl has a very elegant and very well-balanced flower shape.

I have two of these ("witchcraft"), one had one flower spike with flowers in Dec 2020 and has dried up, but, no leaves have turned yellow and fallen off, and a new bud or something has started to grow at the base? Any suggestions, should I keep watering? The second one has two spikes in bloom currently, and again, no leaves are falling off for a winter rest. Any suggestions?

My leaves are still dropping in August. I live in the Florida Keys. Is this normal? When will it start blooming again? I have been watering once a week, maybe. I have mine living on my screened in porch that is south facing. Edit - I saw a new pseudo bulb coming up and put it in the bathroom with cooler temps and strong bright indirect light. It seems to be doing well. I hope I did the right thing. Thanks!

Hi, Danny! Thanks for this video. I recently acquired one. She came with two spikes, about 10 buds on each spike. After just a couple of days, the buds are dropping. I already lost 7 buds. I'm giving her bright shade, temps are 75-80F, and sphag is moist. Leaves are all green. Not sure what's happening. Any ideas?

Thanks for sharing! Can I ask you a question? Do you remember how long since the flower spike appeared until it started to develop the buds? Is it normal for these catasetums to make you wait a relatively long time from when you first see the flower spike until you finally start to see the buds? Thank you!
