No Harlond, existing as a disembodied engram is usually not a desirable existence. You could try to ask all the victims of Soul-killer about it, but then Arasaka is keeping most of those locked up in Saburo's f*cked up virtual torture dungeon (Mikoshi). You might not like it but there's a host of REALLY good reasons why Netwatch is so keen on nobody poking their nose beyond the Blackwall.

Me at the server scene : library technically applies to all types of searches you can do with data terminals, scream sheets and the local nets but I'd also probably have her roll a security search as well to make sure she doesn't set off any non-obvious red flags for people monitoring data terms for key words usage that may suggest they're building a server .

I thought the Blackwall wasn't up in RED. Is this story taking place later?

There’s a little debate about this. Our game takes begins in 2045 which is near the end of the Time of the Red. Netwatch was secretly developing the Black Wall in 2044 but it’s unclear when and to what degree it was deployed, only that it was active in the late 40’s. There’s also some mystery around who Netwatch may or may not have been collaborating with. I will add that at the time this episode was recorded, none of us had yet played the 2077 video game so any lore from that won’t really apply to this game. Don’t forget, at the end of the day, each table is it’s own Night City, and the actions of the players at the table and world building of the referee will shape them into their own facet of the cyberpunk multiverse. Why doesn't their netrunner know what the old net is? Shouldn't the DataKrash stuff and the end of the internet be basic knoweledge, there is only citywide intranet for the most part on NightCity. Love the roleplaying so far but thats very immersive breaking :(

I totally get where you’re coming from, but keep in mind our goal as a channel is to reach non Cyberpunk Red fans as well as die hard fans who know all the lore. Sometimes a little exposition is good to canonize the lore of the particular campaign and to keep the audience and players up to speed on the world building. Thanks for watching choom! 💜💛

To be fair martian's main net experience other than getting through floors guarded by ICE is the uldernverse. So essentially net based game dev or environments creation within the net. Rather than a bartmoss net extraordinaire. So really it kinda fits well. As she is very inexperienced in terms of net architecture. Especially since even nautica asked, "does she go outside much" and dodger told her no. Meaning as a young kid she may of just been working on the uldenverse and dodger needed her to learn minor other skills to break into subnets and fight ice in the moment. Rather than being like bartmoss where creating black ICE was child's play.

So there’s a bit of « woops we walked ourselves into this one » here. I almost missed it to. If you remember, Shitwrecked and team (mostly Shitwrecked) was negotiating with Jericho to have more men, and he basically said, we are all waiting to crash down on something like this, but without any proof we have no jurisdiction, BUT if you have sufficient proof we are there with an army of our forces and we’ll bring all hell down on them. Which WOULD have worked out if they needed them, but in the end, they took care of it (at least for now, haven’t watched 8 yet) and go Ajax’s men. SO if they sent the cult leader to Jericho, that would be way more than enough proof for the NCPD to storm the place to dismantle the opperation and therefore taking down the old computer networks that the team is hoping to check out further later which would break Martian’s heart since she’s looking forward to exploring the IO thing and potentially damage or shut down the conciousness of Shitwreckeds friend. So in short too many things left open for them to risk the cops digging in just to get rid of some dude they don’t want to kill.
