I believe that Bloodraven killed Aenys in order to elevate Aegon’s claim. Considering how the other claimants were either children whose regency could be claimed by a rebel lord or Aenys who would supplant the trueborn bloodline, I think he threw his support behind Aegon and killed Aenys as an act of intimidating others to vote for him and to perhaps ingratiate himself with Aegon. Two things I want to say about the topic. I find interesting that despite the strong anti-dornish character of the first rebellion, one of the houses most loyal to the Blackfyres is house Yronwood, a dornish house. From what we have seen from Cayteline, the rebellions have been proof for many of the inherent treachery of bastards, I find this pretty hypocritical, since none of this would have been possible without the support of all those "legitimate" lords.

Blackfyres ARE Targaryen on both the most ancient maternal & paternal line of their family tree so basically there's no reason to to call Young Griff's Targaryen lineage into question if he is indeed a Blackfyre. Great video as always
@thatoneblackdude3333 Жыл бұрын
That's not how that works Blackfires are not targaryens they have targaryen blood but that are their own family just like the baratheons plus aegons blood would be carat diluted by this point assuming Blackfires didn't do incest he's so far away from the targaryen family tree he's basically a stranger to them.
@liamdenise246 Жыл бұрын
@@thatoneblackdude3333 they did do incest. Daemon Blackfyre was literally in love with his sister who he wanted to marry and got angry at his brother when he was denied, meanwhile Shiera had two brothers lusting after her and one she loved. Targaryen incest would be copied by them, since the blackfyres were proud of their heritage. Plus in essos many blood of valyria exists, in Lys, in Volantis, so even when they did marry outside the family they would have married them because targaryens are narcissists who only want to marry people who look like them, Aerys wanted a bride who looked like Rhaegars sister if she was grown up. Daemon disdains anyone not valyrian and only wishes to marry as pure a valyrian bride as possible. It could even be that some descendants of aeron who had many children married into blackfyres, adding more targ blood in. It's very likely that the blackfyres married each other every chance they had, and that is why their numbers grew so few so quickly, it would help their claim if they looked as targaryen or more so then the trueborn.

Long Live House Blackfyre Spoilers The reason I like House Blackfyre so much is dispite being the "bad guys" they have so much tragedy. King Daemon Blackfyre was by all accounts an honorable man even in a major battle he ordered the enemy comander he fought be taken to safely and because of that he was killed but not before watching his 12 year old son die. Prince Aemon despite just watching his twin and father die was brave enough to pick up the very symbol of their family ready to continue the fight only to die as well. King Daemon 2 had a vision of his brothers and possibly his father dying when he was only 7 imagine the guilt he felt and despite lacking fighting skill, he was honorable as well as brave enough to ride out alone facing an enemy army. King Haegon was killed after surrendering and his brother Prince Aenys was killed after being promised safety. Daemon Blackfyre 4 got his head ripped off by his cousin Maelys who himself was probably considered a monster and kinslayer slayer since birth because of his deformity. If the theories are true Young Griff may die never knowing the truth about himself and Illyrio sacrificed his relationship with his son for power, legacy, and perhaps love. I apologize for the rant especially to Lord Haven but I feel like The Blackfyres don't get enough love .

As a fun thought exercise I like to imagine Aegon IV as a decent man who grew up in the shadows of his more accomplished cousins. Daeron and Aemon were the fighters, Baelon was the religious one, the girls where all smarter than he could hope to be so Aegon went the fun one route. Not really caring about much of anything and just wanting to drink and whore and show people a good time but would also do his duty when called upon. Then his family all started dying around him which put him in a depression and he ate and drink to numb the pain. I think Aegon knew his wife loved her brother Aemon and would sleep with him and even that his two kids where really Aemons. When he was never going to be king that was fine live and let live so to speak but once Aegon became king he wanted a real son of his to take the throne but couldn’t just flat out say it without hurting his family even more so he gave hints and pushed people in that direction but nothing ever changed so on his death bed he did what he thought was right and legitimized his bastards. I also think Daemon didn’t know at first but later found out (possibly around the time Daeron finally turned on him). After that Daemon thought it was his duty to take the throne that was his by rights and not this pretender who wasn’t even his real half brother and was marrying his family to the enemy. But there is no evidence really for any of that but if people can think Maegor wasn’t really cruel then I can give some love to Aegon IV too lol

In an ideal world, House Blackfyre would've gone on to be similar to House Baratheon: a Cadet Branch House of the Targaryens, often strong allies to the crown. But alas... it was not meant to be. 😮💨 Instead, just like the Dance of the Dragons, the members of this Valyrian Dragonlord House decided to spill one another's dragon blood upon the fields of Westeros. Maybe a hidden Blackfyre could find Dany in Essos. It's been an idea of mine, a cool little fan-fic if a theory I must admit but... a Blackfyre, a son of one of the various Blackfyres we hear of who died over the generations of their line, survives hidden somewhere (I'm not counting FAegon since he's technically a son of the female line so, he doesn't really count) and, after swearing an oath of fealty to Dany, is trusted enough to ride, I dunno, Rhaegal perhaps. Aegon had 3 Dragons during his Conquest, but they each had their own riders. Dany's Dragons may be smart enough to split up and follow the Dothraki or Unsullied to protect them and attack whoever they attack, but that's a stretch, cause they may decide they wanna visit their mom and fly off to find Drogon in the skies somewhere. So, how do we fix this? She legitimizes Aurane Waters to Aurane Velaryon, so he fights for her cause and in the name of his Nephew, the young Lord of the Tides. And mayhaps he or the young lad gets Viserion as a mount. Then Rhaegal goes to our mystery Blackfyre candidate. Mind you, it also fixes Dany's succession crisis. Since Blackfyre's are of the same bloodline but a different name, if Dany marries said Blackfyre then she can just name her kids with him Targaryens, and thus their lines are united and the male Targaryen line continues.

GLORY TO THE KING WHO BORE THE SWORD!!!! 🖤❤️🔥
@0307scott Жыл бұрын
So many people get pissed off at Daeron II for marrying Mariah Martell, when he had no hand in that decision himself, nor his father Aegon IV and not even his grandfather Viserys II. Baelor the Blessed had arranged Daeron's betrothal to Mariah after Daeron I lost his army and his own life of 18 years fighting to bring Dorne into the realm. The Knights and warmongers of Westeros are just pissed that it was not war that brought Dorne into the realm but the wisdom and peace of King Daeron II.

I do find it funny how so much lore from this world was just left untapped from tv. with the show only covering one of the many interesting conflicts in this world, and cocking it up really terribly. thanks for giving a much better and more digestible way to learn the asoiaf world.

I don't believe the blackfye's we're right in rebelling. But i don't think Daeron made good decisions with the dornish. Daemon should have supported his brother. But Daeron should have foreseen the chance of a civil war and kept Daemon close.

@@J10005 I dunno man. Dorne doesn't particularly do ANYTHING for the rest of the kingdoms. The North does more for everyone than them. Aside from the Stone Dornish anyway.

Bittersteel didn’t support Daemon II’s claim not only maybe because of his homosexuality but also because his plan wasn’t good enough to him

Something that would make for interesting discussion that nobody seems to talk about is that (POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR HOTD!) at least 2 dragons should still be alive by the time the Blackfyre Rebellions occur. Silverwing and Sheepsteeler both survive the dance and are young enough that they would still be younger than Vhagar was during the dance by the time the rebellion occurs. It would be a very interesting topic to discuss whether then dragons were brought up for potential taming purposes. And a what if scenario if one or both sides ended up with a dragon or two. And to note you could throw cannibal into the mix depending on how old you think he is and depending on where you think he disappeared to after the dance.

6:09 I don't buy this rumor at all sense the rebellion didn't start till many years after she was married off this is why I want fire and blood 2 so we can learn the real reason
@tuckernutterАй бұрын
I like to theorize that Daemon didn't uphold Aegon IV's promise to make Fireball a King's Guard because he not only broke his *vow* with his Wife in order to ascertain the position, but *forced* her to take a position she possibly really didn't want either. How could Fireball be trusted to keep his *vows* as a King's Guard when he couldn't even keep his *vows* as a husband to the Old Gods, the New, and his Wife?

There’s a possibility Dunk will met Daemon III. One of the D&E novellas was meant to be the “Sellsword”, it should be probably about Dunk be exiled after doing stuff with one of Egg’s sisters and join the Golden Company. Again very poetic that Dunk in the fourth Blackfyre rebellion will have to kill his old friend Daemon
@fantasyhaven1 Жыл бұрын
Interesting 👀
@eazhnaell2333 Жыл бұрын
And to be fair, i don't think Dunk had a bad opinion of Daemon 2 Blackfire. As misguided were his dreams and plan, he did act really honnorably compared to those who were around him. That would make Dunk an even more complex character.
