There are bass players, and then there are bass gods. Watt-Roy is a bass god.

speaking as a bass player ... yes there are those amongst you that can articulate ... theres wooten andd jaco and bruce , clarke , lee , and thereafter they all have a thing in common ... they seek the light ..this is hard work unser a bushell ( 2 "L" 's?) i played bass professionally for years ( got paid to play bass ... no other source of income ) i was never tasked with rythmn stick ... thank fuck ... mack the knife ... the 64 chord one ... played it on tour never broke skin ... this would have polished me off

NWR - the legend.......so, I step off a train at Milton Keynes after a long day in the big smoke recently and spied Norman standing on Platform 5, presumably waiting for a train......and here I am, suited and booted, striding to get home - but I just stopped walking to stairs for the exit, made a bee line straight for him and grabbed him by the hand, exclaiming, ".......sir - let me shake the hand of a true bass legend.....thank you!". He seemed to be shocked...and I strode off to the stairs and the exit - with the biggest smile on my face. A few weeks later, a woman whom I had never met before, said to me as I was walking up the stairs (again at MK station), "Norman really appreciated you coming up to him - he doesn't get recognised often and it sometimes makes him sad, I think.....". I was pretty shocked by this and simply replied, "...the guy is a legend and the reason why I still try and learn to play bass.........he is a legend....plain and simple." And that he is - a legend......and a lovely bloke...

If it’s true: what an ispirational and heartwarming incident and what a day it must have been for both Norman and you. You both should be both happy and proud. If not: thank you for an inspirational and heartwarming story of human kindness, love and appreciation. Both you and Norman should be proud ❤️

Amazing bass player indeed. I play bass myself and I've been lucky enough to see both JJ Burnel and Norman play in Belfast's Cathedral Quarters Arts Festival this last week. Both inspirational. Norman and Wilko were on top form last night.
