I have a 2009 Br160a I bought used, better sounding than a new one. The Br160a is way better than the Br160,worth the extra money..

I bought a BR-160A new from Maury's Music in 2009 (received it the day Barack Obama was inaugerated). They say a new guitar never looks better or sounds worse than the day it was made.

I own one of these. Not being bias because I own a Martin too. But, it's a hard pill to swallow when you play a Martin hd-28 and it doesn't have a really noticeable tone advantage on the Br160a. May just be mine. I love playing and listening to my Martin and Blueridge. Great, great, value to say the least.

+Steven Shockley Too similar to think about the price difference. These blueridges sound awesome, they don´t ring like a good, worn in martin, but for 95% of occasions it wouldn´t really be an audible difference IMO. And even if it would, would it be a turn off? To me it wouldn't

$250 more than the standard BR160 just for an Adirondack top? Remember they are also saving the cost of the Sitka spruce top you would otherwise have got - its only a few ounces of softwood - you could fill a pickup truck with it for $250. Then, to take the urine even more they remove all of the intricate abalone inlays from the more expensive model which no doubt saves a LOT of labour costs - and slap on a corporate logo that looks like its a make of waffles. Screw the A models - SAGA are ripping off their buyers.

The intricate abalone inlays are on the 180 and 180A.

Agreed they spent an extra $5 on wood and saved labor by not putting the inlays on the headstock. This is quite expensive for a far east guitar

These guitars are not made with Indian rosewood anymore. They are now made with Bolivian Rosewood AKA Santos Rosewood. All over the web they are still advertise as having Indian Rosewood. Bolivian and Indian are very similar however so not sure why they don't just say what it really is.
