Couple of questions if I may. The Kiwis turned up last time with pedals rather than grinders and reckoned it gave them 30% more power, why have the other teams not adopted this? Second, can you imagine a design like this crossing an ocean?

despiration in design short falls... perhaps doing some serious reconfigurations... etnz have been speed trapped at 50kn already but just as importantly etnz are faster through tacks & gybes & carrying very good speed through... the killer for Ineos is HOW is etnz carrying bigger sails than Ineos in the same wind... one of the factors etnz have better speed than Ineos... @ChimeraActual4 жыл бұрын
OK viewers, here's something you may not have thought about. Look at how these boats "corner". When tacking or jibing they obviously slow down, but perhaps not so much, notice how they rarely drop off the foils, and they never heel or slip sideways. Think of the centripetal force and heeling moment. Watching these magnificent machines will be great, but the actual racing may be dismal. What if the speed differentials are so great that one boat clears off and wins by half a race course? If your boat is even a few percent slower your task will appear impossible. This is very different from dinghy racing.

I'd like to see a bit of competition really. And at this moment Team NZ is far superior to the challengers and honestly the NZ boat technology is mind boggling, and some say it is compared to alien technology. The whole nation is crazy with the AM cup, the tax payers fund 90% of costs to defend the cup, supported previous cup challengers and cup defense since KZ7 in 1987. Sailing and All Blacks are on even level in NZ. Good luck to all the participants and may the fastest boat wins.

Thanks Nevan, the NZ Govt and the Auckland City Council spent over $230,000,000 NZD on the America's cup infrastructure, and without that support this event wouldn't happen. No place anywhere in the world would hold the America's Cup, only NZ, because of Covid19. We aren't covid19 free, but we manage it appropriately to ensure everyone is safe. Let's thank the 5 million people of NZ that also support this event. Welcome and good luck to all the teams, from Italy, UK and USA. Kia kaha and be strong as you can be.

@@lloydroose9791 yes but that was on infrastructure not to fund the team. There is a difference. Team NZ doesn't own the roads and buildings that the council built. And you might want to look at Valencia and see what they spent.
