I was in Hillsong and know a few things you have discovered. Thank you for your story. It is not easy if you are not a YES person. God knows all things and will bless at the right time. Hillsong is now imploding. God saved me just in time. You will be able to go forward and have the closest intimacy with the best friend you can have, Jesus. He knows and understands what it is like to not fit in . The Lord maketh a man rich and he addeth no sorrow with it .

Janice’s story is so relatable - it’s hard not to think sometimes you’re on an island by yourself and her story is a reminder that that’s not true. I’m really excited about this docuseries. Thank you!

Janice, just be a reflection of Christ in your every day life. That is what the Kingdom was always supposed to be. If "going to church" is someone's parameter for judging others faith, they have missed the entire Gospel, not you.

Hey so, I don’t know if you have any say in the ads that run on here, but the one I just saw had Kevin Sorbo in it - I only saw the 5 seconds I was required to watch and that quickly he said something wildly transphobic. I just wanted to make sure y’all were aware.

Yep, I saw it and I haven't cringed like that in a long time. I grew up watching Hercules on t.v. and was an avid fan (not so much with the God's Not Dead franchise, lol). Yeah, there's so much to unpack and I struggle to keep my opinions more mild.

It was too hard for me . I eas romantically involved with a evangelical Christian . Bot Hillsong. He said he loved me , wanted to marry me . Found out from him that he already had a girlfriend . I am increadiably hurt. I am done with them all.

Tim, I know awhile ago you interviewed the hosts of The Bodies Behind The Bus podcast, who mostly focused on smaller stories of those who left Acts 29 type churches. Is there a reason that you made a similar title for your docuseries? To be clear, it's great to platform her story and others. It just seems weird that you chose a title very similar to another podcast who is doing similar things. It probably wasn't intentional, but, just wanted to make you aware that it seems too similar of title to another great podcast.

Completely unintentional. I was actually thinking about mark driscoll’s comments about the bodies he ran over that he was proud of.

Despite episode 238 of the podcast and comments regarding whom people ought to associate with, this was Brutus's gateway drug. 😆 In other words, this was the first TNE video he ever saw and it got him interested in the greater work. Jeshua taught his talmidim to forgive 70 x 7 times. In other words, are we meant to hold things against people indefinitely and stand over others declaring they no longer have a voice, a say at the table? Personally, I've experienced visions. I've actually had God show me things that have come to pass (and I get the recent criticism of "prophetic hindsight"). My faith to some extent has been bolstered by this, not the other way around. I wasn't expecting such things, which include dreams as well, but likewise cannot deny their reality. And if God not only used a terrorist as Shane Claiborne referred to Saul, (and his words be considered 2,000 years later "God's Word" by many) surely he can use me and many other flawed persons whether white, black, blue or red. The extent to which anyone listens is their business, but if God should put me on a platform, I'm gonna stand thereon and speak my truth.

I agree that many churches preach things that often are not actually incorporated into their practice. I do not necessarily agree on the issue of race being such a determining factor with speaker/pastor choice (maybe at Hillsong but not globally in the body of Christ). It always saddens me when one or more denominations or ‘movements’ get so sidetracked with scandal or taken by the allure of fame or Greed that they end up leading so many away from Christ. The pain and hurt caused by the poor and false teaching, especially over a lengthy period of time, that the tension and apprehension of how long it may take to sort through the genuine from the counterfeit is too overwhelming and then they opt to hit the eject button altogether and choose never to look back. The issue is that Satan wants us to do just that. To say “this is all too much and now I can’t trust anyone so I’m just gonna stay out of religion as a whole so I never get hurt again…”. Meanwhile, this is actually the most destructive and hurtful thing we can do to ourselves and our destiny is to choose not to sort through the only thing that is actually life-giving and soul-saving. If there’s one thing in our life that is worth working through, it would be this very thing. “What I’m getting at, friends, is that you should simply keep on doing what you’ve done from the beginning. When I was living among you, you lived in responsive obedience. Now that I’m separated from you, keep it up. Better yet, redouble your efforts. Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God. That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13 MSG

I have watched her give several sit down interviews for all things Hillsong. She basically left the faith and now is on crusade. There’s nothing new here. She bought into the corporate church model and got burned. Every believer has gotten burned by a church, you learn to forgive and press into Gods Word and relationship with Him more. Over time you will mature. Over time you find your center vs moving from one extreme to another extreme. (The pendulum affect) Note: Hillsong NYC was full of great people. But they had terrible theology, brainless leaders, and was “consumeristic”. We should not be shocked Hillsong doesn’t produce emotionally mature followers of Christ with solid Biblical teaching. (Yes, I attended Hillsong NYC and was heavily involved. I left around 2016/2017 when I read the writing on the wall. They weren’t going to change)
