I felt like James Wan was a heavy inspiration, there was even a strong red theme going on and the typical glass windows and style of house.

The biggest jumpscare happened in the parking lot! Glad it turned out well. Yeah, the title The Boogeyman definitely sounds like a '70's horror story you'd find in an old book at a rumage sale.

I am on the side that loved Dashcam for what it was, even if the lead was often insufferable. It just makes it all the more fun to watch when crazy stuff keeps happening around her, you don’t feel at all bad for her 😅

Thanks Emma, it's coming to Tbilisi tomorrow, and I wasn't sure if I'd go. There have been so many bad movies called The Boogeyman. But this sounds pretty worthwhile, on the Boogeyman scale. Interestingly here's it's called ბუგიმენი (that's the Georgian alphabet) or Boogimeni. Because, not only do they not have a Boogeyman myth here, they don't even write or tell horror stories.

I was wondering if packaging volume is a consideration. If re-bagged snacks in particularly ‘noisy’ packaging for the theatre, but I also tend to be a little anxious about always bothering people (so it’s more more my own comfort than anyone else).

My take on the title is that many years ago when lots of kids died from SIDS before they knew what it was it was often referred to as some kind of monster/boogeyman in communities creating a folklore about it. When the dad in the movie spoke with Lester Billings and he told him that it was reported all his children died of SIDS but he knew they didn’t. So I just think it’s a callback to the initial rumors surrounding the origin of SIDS.

And I saw it this afternoon! I thoroughly enjoyed it. It ticked all my boxes: dark house, weird parent, sinister stranger, f**king unhinged supporting character, (IYKYK) brave angsty teenager and an innocent child. *french-chef’s-kiss*. There were only two other patrons in the theater, so I had the room to completely lose myself in the movie. The coloring and lighting were so good! Definitely enhanced the mood. The sound design was AMAZING!!! I jumped many times about sounds that were made and felt very much like they were nearer than they were. I agree, the scares were great. Definitely recommend. David Dastmalchian was a fabulous casting choice, btw. Enjoyed seeing him.

Went to a noon screening today. There were only five others in the cinema so no assholes! 😆 Thought it was a slow burn for the most part but almost left my seat at one jump scare & that rarely happens. Not perfect but fun & 140° different from Dashcam (which I loved). I'd be a terrible critic. Seems like I enjoy almost everything! Always wondered if anyone ever tapped on your window while recording. 😂
