I LOVE this, and it’s exactly what I always dreamed of having as a child, but PLEASE make sure you put an actual key/combination lock on the storage trunk! Many young children die from suffocation by getting themselves trapped/stuck inside of storage trunks. Always best to err on the side of caution until they are both old enough to understand how to get themselves out of such a situation, and strong enough to be able to easily lift the lid themselves from the inside without any assistance. You did a phenomenal job designing this space! I’m incredibly jealous as a 30 year old grown adult! It’s beautiful!

The earth will in fact continue to spin ...even with this extreme error. Lol...more than likely they did this for the video so that they could capture the front of the books...I highly doubt they actually have them stored this way.

It’s the proper way to shelve books to preserve them in the long term. Then you can reach back and push it out by the spine with a finger and never push on pages of tug on the spine which eventually comes off. Cheers!

Love it! Just be very careful with that heavy trunk lid and the macrame toy hammock, both can be suffocation/choking hazards. I'd put some ventilation in the trunk and probably get rid of the dangling bits on the hammock.

I thought this was for a teen… maybe should only go in with mommy and daddy once she is a toddler❤ grabbing that hammock is similar to the pull strings on window blinds. We had a friend whose toddler got herself wrapped up in the strings and died- not to be scary but just cautious❤
@makeuplover6852
@makeuplover6852 21 күн бұрын
Yup, a locked latch on the trunk completely eliminates her or another child visiting getting in there, also just remove the hamoc - just too dangerous for babies and then toddlers. Just put up a shelf to keep the stuffies from the dog, but soon enough there will be baby toys all over - including stuffies so might as well teach the pup now, no! Not his. Then baskets are safest and easiest for toy storage. If they like the hamoc just for design effect, put it up in the corner of the room attached to ceiling, no way the child can ever reach it.

After watching a few videos of people buying perfectly charming houses, only to completely gut them to make them look "modern", you two are a breath of fresh air. Instead of destroying the charm of that little nook, you're ADDING to make it into the perfect reading space, while keeping its color the same as possible.

Something that will help it look more cozy is maximalism! That slanted portion of the wall is a great space to put an old map or some framed art pieces. The more things you have I that space the cozier it will look. I would also suggest heavily securing them to the wall with multiple screws or finish nails, that way your child does not knock them down and is unable to remove them.

My kiddos (now 20 & 23) had some significant childhood disruptions (defence family & late identified neurodivergence). Because of this they have disrupted memories of much of their early years. What they both solidly remember is us reading to them, both daytimes and bedtimes. We had a fairly extended bedtime routine and they both remember it clearly and fondly. As an added bonus, my son has been part of a longitudinal study since he was four months old (Growing Up in Australia). We’ve taken part in interview his whole life, and given permission for the study to access his federal academic testing and other similar data. It’s been awhile since I’ve dug into their results but from memory they had a significant positive correlation between parents who read to their children and how those children went in their academic testing 😊
