One of my favorite parts of this scene actually is not in this scene, but later at the bar. Once there Eli immediately whips out some very nice, warm looking clothes in exchange for a filled canteen. So Eli is not actually bartering with everything he has in this scene; he set aside the stuff he knew would guarantee him a full water supply while doing his best with the rest of what he had to get the luxury, the charged battery. The latter will keep him sane, but the former will keep him alive.

@FingerinUrDaughter6 жыл бұрын
it really is the worst kind of economy. thats why countries that still have large areas that primarily do their trading in this manner never really develop. nobody can really argue on prices, and the price for anything you need is set by the people who have it. if they want an entire cow for a single seasons worth of seeds, or one of your children for their soldiers, well you really dont have any choice in the matter. you might be able to get them to go up to 2 seasons of seeds, but they want what they want for it.

About Eli being blind. So here is the theory I ascribe to and have accumulated from the posts I have read. His wife was blind so he knew braille before the war. He mentions to the Solara's mother if she was born blind or the war caused her to be blind. He tapped on his dog tags and looked at her reaction makes me believe he could see that she responds to sound location. So Eli might be able to partially see, but due to the flashes from the war be from nukes or what have you he is losing his vision or it is just not as good. Maybe he is totally blind, and he is only led by faith which I think makes a perfect analogy.
