As a Mormon myself, I cannot wait to see this musical. You're all getting it wrong. Please listen to the music (which is amazing), it's not offensive to us. This isn't "of the devil" this is of good humor and something to laugh at ourselves about. I applaud these men for such talent they have for making this masterpiece.

I'm a latter-day saint. Frankly, I applaud the South Park creators. They show a tremendous amount of love to the people they're admittedly mocking. If you're going to satirize someone, doing it with the good humor and tone that Matt and Trey do is surprising and exceptional. Well done, boys.

So I'm LDS my little brother served in Oslo Norway and they have this play at one of the theaters there which they would sit outside the theater after the performance to give out copies of the book of Mormon to people as they walked out the theater. He said it was pretty fun doing that as people loved seeing real missionaries after the show.

Went to see the book of mormon a few weeks ago at the pantages theatre in Hollywood, and it is the best musical i've ever seen and one of the best shows i've ever seen, and i'm not into musicals at all, it was really that good. Trey and Matt have proved over and over again with South Park that they are the kings of satire comedy and this play just put them over the top into legendary status.

The age is 19. And a mission is a lot like a religious version of the peace corps and the purpose of spreading the religion is to bring comfort even when things are the toughest. A lot of missionaries actually do service other than preaching the gospel. Some participate in food drives, harvesting crops, and building houses. The Peace Corps was created after and has a very similar model. I plan on serving both a mission with my church and in the Peace Corps. And I still want to see this musical.

I am a devote LDS / Mormon. Trey and Matt are hilarious. Their Mormon humor in South Park is often the way Mormons poke fun at themselves (minus the dum dum dum part of that south park episode.) I find what they do as great fun and if someone gets their panties in a bunch they may need to relax a bit in their attitude towards life.

Fun fact: when Mormons get endowed in the temple, they receive a new name, usually of biblical origin. Many Mormons believe they receive an individual name, but actually all men and all women who go to the temple at a certain date receive the same male or female name, and hence you can look up any Mormon's new name in a table if you know their endowment date. Funny, isn't it?

@SavannahBananaful If you listen to the music closely you will realize that this musical is not about bashing Mormons or Christians. This musical shows that religion is not about what is right or wrong it is about community and finding a way to better yourself as a person. You should not feel offended but even though they poke fun at it at times it's good to learn to laugh at yourself. You can tell how the creators are talking about it that they did not mean to insult you.

@dalphin002 Actually, Matt and Trey have done a LOT of research on Mormonism in the past, and growing up around Mormons in Colorado, they don't really have that many qualms about them. If you watch the South Park Episode "All About Mormons?", they pretty much say that even though the religion is a bit goofy, its no more different than any other religion and that most Mormons are good people in general.

@RedlineMMA Everything receives spiritual energy through chakras, even the earth. Our ancestors knew this very well and placed sacred sites where the earths male(micheal) and female (mary)energy ley lines meet. By placing certain stones at these points the spiritual energy would become magnified. That's what Dolmens and monoliths do. And ancient people would tap into this energy for healing, agriculture, and much more. Stonehenge is just one of many sacred sites on the micheal and mary lines

Really, all these anti-religious comments have missed the point of the musical. The point was that even though people might find a religion ridiculous, it can still help people, if not taken too seriously (I believe Matt Stone called it "an atheist's love letter to religion"). I mean, I'm a Christian (and proud of it) but I've studied Norse and Native American mythology and found stories that were inspiring to me, even if I didn't believe them.
