This musical was literally the greatest thing ever. I’m an atheist and it was so hilarious watching all the Christians walk out as they didn’t realize it was a musical making fun of all mythologies instead of just LDS.
@venw.3655 Жыл бұрын
As a Christian, this is still in my top 3 of Musicals. I wouldn't say others walking out made it hilarious ☠️. It was good on its own and the comedy and music stands up still til this day.
@ttrestle Жыл бұрын
@@venw.3655 I never said Christian’s walking out is what made it hilarious. I said it was hilarious when this happened (when I was watching in person at my auditorium). What is it about conservatives and christians that make them so prone to strawmen arguments? I honestly and genuinely want to know as it just confuses me on how prevalent this type of fallacy is with that demographic.
@jumpingjupiter Жыл бұрын
Yeah everyone gets the musical there Travis., and yes you r better than everyone!
@ttrestle Жыл бұрын
@@jumpingjupiter huh? It’s so bizarre that Christian conservatives get so angry when someone mentions there an atheist. I mean if there was a musical making fun of atheists and someone in the comment section said they laughed when people walked out and mentioned they were a Christian, I wouldn’t care at all. I don’t care if anyone believes in a religious mythology. That’s their business. But the minute someone mentions they’re an atheist. It’s like every single religious person ever immediately flips out and gets so angry. My theory on that is that it comes down to secret doubt that every religiously indoctrinated person has About the particular mythology they were indoctrinated into. I also think it has to do with the religious person thinking that if there’s someone out there who doesn’t believe in their particular religion, then it’s like saying everything that a religious person believes in is wrong and dumb. I mean that’s what the religious person thinks. Just because I said I was an atheist. You seem to take it as a personal affront to your whole been. Otherwise, you would not have immediately gone to the strawman fallacy. Anyway, it’s just bizarre and funny. You’re not the first and you won’t be the last to get butthurt finding out that someone out there doesn’t believe in the particular mythology that you’ve been indoctrinated into. But I hope you’re able to calm down one day and not respond so bizarrely when you hear that someone is an atheist in the future. I mean, do you get angry at people when you find out they don’t believe in unicorns or fairies and think that they think they’re better than everyone else too?
@ttrestle Жыл бұрын
What is it about Christians and conservatives always going to strawman fallacies. Most people liked my comment but the two Christians who separately responded so far to my original comment both made strawman fallacy’s. One made a claim that I did not make having to do with why I thought the musical was hilarious and the second made a claim that I did not make about how I think I’m better than everyone else. Once you fully understand what fallacious arguments are, how they are used, and the different types of them, such as strawman, what about ism, ad, homonym, and so on, and so forth, you will begin to noticed that fallacious argument, tactics are commonly and constantly used by conservatives, Christians and other religious individuals, and Trump call tests. Trust me, you will begin to notice it everywhere being used constantly. It’s just so bizarre though. Typically when I point out that a conservative or Christian is using something like a strawman fallacy, they either respond with no I didn’t even though they don’t understand what a strawman fallacy is, or more likely they will respond with a whataboutism fallacy and just move on to another issue. I guess my point here though is can anyone tell me why they believe conservatives and religious people use fallacious argument tactics so often? I just don’t understand why it’s such a common tactic.

I'm an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, served a mission, I've performed baptisms, etc. First off, hopefully everyone knows that our baptisms are sacred and we take them very seriously. Secondly, I'm not offended by this since I can take a joke. I found myself laughing as I was watching this because it's so cringe. I'm like this is so not what baptism is really about! Third, there have been actual issues of people getting baptized just because they like the missionary who is baptizing them, so this kinda thing does unfortunately happen. It's a reminder that one should join a religion because they really believe it'll make them happier and better people. Flirt to convert as we call it in the church is always risky! P.S. I invite all to read the Book of Mormon. 🙂

You couldn't be further from the truth by calling The Book of Mormon, a show created by the team behind South Park, woke. In fact, it's so un-woke, its depiction of blacks in the setting of Uganda still courts controversy 18 years on and a petition was recently started by cast members to rewrite aspects of the script that focus on their having AIDs and sleeping with babies. There's a myriad of un-PC material in it. This happens to be one of the lighter numbers.
