What about DeVante??? I really feel for his character and couldn’t believe that they cut him out! They really just combined his character with Seven and I really thought he was worth having his own spot in the movie! I was somewhat surprised how Chris didn’t stay around during the riot like he did in the book but took Lyric and Kenya home. I also wished that we got to see more of the relationship between Starr and Carlos in the movie. I really loved both but it probably didn’t help I read the book in two days and the night I finished the book I watched the movie so everything was so fresh in my mind. I’m really just so sad that they didn’t give DeVante a role in the movie! :(

The movie was good but they missed a lot of aspects of the book. They had all of the "whats" of the book but not the "how" or the "why" if you get what I'm saying

I finally saw this on my friend's HBO account. I'm glad you mentioned the fact that this wasn't promoted like other movies because I knew of the book but had no idea there was a movie for it. I wish this was promoted better. I wish the book and movie were part of national discussion in schools, or at the very very least the opening scene of the movie could be shown in schools.
