'The Hate U Give' featured so many fine performances. This is an Oscar caliber movie. A stellar achievement. Obviously Amandla is a rising star (deservedly so) but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ANTHONY MACKIE. He is one the most underrated actors of our time.

I wish that this movie was playing in more theaters. It’s not playing in any Regal theaters in the Raleigh Durham area and only 2 AMC theaters only 2 showtimes. Hopefully it’ll open in more locations soon.

Lord knows I love common ! but he made me mad in that movie ! ! 😭 I forgave him though , I know his heart ! & when she said “blackness is not always accepted into the places we enter into” ... I cringed ... because that is the sad truth !
@ikeo99666 жыл бұрын
SPOILER ALERT AHEAD I loved the movie a lot ! I read the book and the movie left a ton of stuff out like DeVante. DeVante was the character that told Starr about why Khalil sold drugs and DeVante was the one to get beat up, not Seven.
@telayajackson2.0235 жыл бұрын
Yeah, idky they left him out. He even asked Seven about his name.

What I mean is this has become our reality, well for some, as Blacks to create someone we are not to please other cultures.

She looks black to me. I don't really think that's a real problem unless another darker skinned character was denied an oppurtunity for trying out for the role. Skai Jackson more fit the description. The real problem is why is Kahlil made to be a drug dealer and on top of that he's in a gang. You know there are innocent black boys with no drugs and gang relations that are being shot and killed.
@bollagurl6 жыл бұрын
@Kiera I haven't watched the movie so I can't comment on whether just touch on the subject or not. I have read the book and it went pretty heavy into gang violence and Kahlil dealing drugs. That's not really my issue. My issue is majority of the young n boys shot had nothing to do with gang violence or drug dealing. So we're playing in the park or grocery store minding there own buisness. Hollywood loves to soften the blow of loosing a young black male by tying them to Gangs or drugs which is majority not the case. No you are not always guilty If your in a gang but at the same time. Most young black men or not in a gang.
@bollagurl6 жыл бұрын
@Kiera That's true they do assume the worst. But I do believe we're progressing as a culture. Our music. Isn't so much focused on drugs as it used to be. We're now focusing on politics, cars, woman, and making money. Buy I do understand your point. Just because he's in a gang doesn't mean he has a gun. I just think for our black sons it still isn't really a positive aspect. But I get that was not supposed to be that movie.

I hope that people end stereotyping. I am an Ashkenazim. To some that means the judgemental people. And yes, don't talk behind my back. The hate that Americans give my people. I am American. I descended from a tradesman. I also descended from a feminist. So I had a man yell at me. You got to earn my respect. Shut up if you drive. I don't drive. I am struggling with seizure. Americans are ethnocentric. All of them. I am concerned about families teaching their kids hate because a man yelled at me in front of his daughter. I am too Irish looking. I am not a drunkard. I thought this anger towards me ended. I need to shut haters up or tell them to apologize.
