BS 1 and 2 are a de-construction of the action film genre, breaking down tropes and cliches in order to show how truly immature it is. That's right- I said it. The film intentionally portrays its heroes as lucky fuck-ups, making a reasonably bitchin action film WHILST TAKING THE PISS in the genre the movie is set in. This isn't Star wars- it's SPACEBALLS.

Is Troy Duffy trying to make it a thing where he waits 10 years in between each movie? Actually, it's been 11 years since the last Saints film, going on 12. I don't know how hyped Norman and Sean Patrick are going to be at this point. I would talk about how impressed I am that Billy Connolly is still alive, but the last time I did that, Sean Connery died. I just read that the title for the third movie would be Boondock Saints: Legion (severe eye roll) where apparently it goes completely V for Vendetta on itself and hundreds of people inspired by the Saints rise up, take arms and fight crime. Pretty sure the only hope for the franchise is a hard reboot since Norman is off doing (much) better things. But do you know who I feel really bad for? Sean Patrick Flanery...'s career. Poor bastard had Powder and Young Indiana Jones, dude was on the cover of playgirl at one point. Demon Hunter sucked pretty hard. I wish he could rake in the top tier projects like Reedus does. But according to his bio, he hasn't been divorced. Maybe he's happy, idk. Props where they're due, I suppose.

I agree with DeusDaecon, that the sequel should've been more about Billy Connelly's story, 'cause I cannot stand the man child bulls#*& of the brothers in this movie. If you've seen the documentary about the writer/director it's honestly surprising the film isn't even more full of gay jokes and mindless reshoots of scenes from the first film. It's also surprising he actually managed to write a good backstory for El Ducé's character.

It is SO obvious that the dude playing Romeo was having an absolute BLAST playing that role. Also, if anyone is wondering why there was never even any talk about a third film, you can blame that getting shitcanned on the Director himself. He got so god damned arrogant ans full of himself because of all the raw unequaled and unparalleled sheer talent that he thought he possessed that not a single studio or production company wanted ANYTHING to do with him AT ALL. And that goes double for actually giving the prick millions of dollars to film it with.There is actually an entire documentary about it that goes into GREAT detail regarding the nonsense and bullshit he pulled during the filming of these two sinfully underrated films.

I normally love your reviews (oh great...here we go...), but I think you were off on this one. If this wasn't a sequel I would tend to agree with you on the childishness of the movie.. but I think you've missed one important thing. This is a fan movie. Made for the fans. That's why there are similar scenes as the original and 'fag' jokes and all that. You have to be a bit childish to laugh at this... like watching a Chris Farley movie with fart jokes. Yeah, the 'fag' jokes are really not PC appropriate... but this is potty humor we're talking about. Also, El Duce was 66 at the time of filming so '70' isn't so hard to believe. Don't get me wrong.. I love your reviews and will still keep watching... just thought you took it a tad too seriously on this fan film. It did make me cringe at times though... LOL. But they did it with love which is why I loved it. I hope that makes sense.
@bobdole18265 жыл бұрын
I think this one is meant to be fun and dumb satire action, the gay stuff doesn't bother me, my friends are all multicultured and have different sexualities but we talked like that, that's just how it was, I agree it's dumb writing but you just kind of come off as white knighting when you get so up in arms about it, especially if you aren't a part of the demographic (no idea how you swing) I respect and agreee with your criticism but can see how some are turned off and percieve you as being a bit preachy.. I do notice you get pretty passionate whenever something minorly offensive turns up, but again man love your videos!

If I go on about it it means I personally found that it continued to coming up and effecting my opinion so if i mentioned it one and move it wouldn't be my genuine reaction to what I'm seeing, And frankly the first film is no where near as childish or lowest common denominator as this film was, which i find significant.
