So much Mario Kart news all in one morning! I've gone ahead and compiled all my thoughts. Namely, on what this means for the final wave, and Wii Rainbow Road. There are only a few variables left in my mind now, so we'll go through them here.

Love hearing everyone's takes here. It seems that Airship Fortress is the most popular request, which makes sense - they have a great redesign for it sitting in Tour already. What a comeback story that would be after what happened with Wave 4. I'll have to make a potential top 10 list for the mystery slot in the coming weeks on what I truly want. I doubt that since there won't be any more 3DS courses barring a miracle, and even if there is, it's more likely to just be Daisy Hills. The only exception to the rule is Mario Kart Wii, as Moonview Highway almost certainly stole Mushroom Bridge's place, giving it an extra spot

I think Luigi's Mansion would be a good candidate for that mystery slot. Since Wave 6 will most likely release around Halloween, having a spooky themed track would fit quite well, similar to how Wave 3 had Boo Lake. And yes, I know Luigi's Mansion is already a Battle Mode stage, but we literally have four Rainbow Roads in the game (soon to be five with Wii RR), so I don't see that as an issue.

@@militor_207 Banshee Boardwalk would make sense as well, especially as another N64 track which we only have two of in the DLC. However, since it isn't in Tour yet and there's no sign of it coming anytime soon, I think Luigi's Mansion would be more likely. Plus, Luigi's Mansion is just more popular and recognizable in general. It's definitely still possible, though! We'll just have to wait and see what happens! :)

Part of me has been hoping since the beginning of this DLC that the blue shell cup would end up being the Rainbow Roads not yet in the game. It would make for terrible track balance, but the concept of it just sounds so fun to me.

Let me start of by saying I personally think Rainbow Road Wii is HIGHLY overrated. That being said I wish the last cup or wave ended with one more retro RR and one Retro Bowser's Castle (although I mad that if RR Wii is chosen that the game will have 5 RR's and only 1 Bowser's Castle with no Nitro or only 1 Nitro if the BC3 SNES is used) and then have a Tour Original Bowser's Castle and a Tour Original RR. As much do I think we have too many RR and not enough BC's, I would be fine with it if we got this. Also on a side note why does the Double Dash course HAVE to be Dino Dino, Mushroom Bridge or DK track? Why not DD's version of RR or BC or Wario's Colleseum? Dino Dino is overrated, we have enough DK tracks, and we have enough tracks with cars driving on roads with you. Pick something we don't have yet

Two things: 1: The updated Wave Showcase had the "Wave X" tabs shrunken down and moved to the left, allowing space for exactly three extra waves. I think it's highly unlikely for them to actually do it, but it would make sense, if we believe ALL the newer Tour remakes are coming to the BCP, and could exlplain the sudden extra Wii track, as it didn't replace anything, but swapped places with a GCB. 2: I truly believe the last unknown Nitro is a Rainbow Road of some kind. It's the only cup with three "tour" originating tracks, and the only cup with two Nitros, both at the end. I could totally see a Rainbow Road that takes place in a city above busy roads, but not as far up as N64 Rainbow Road, more like literally in between the buildings.

Based off the trailer Nintendo just dropped for Mario Kart Tour, with both wiggler and Peter piranha in the thumbnail (2 new dlc characters in Mario Kart 8) i’m convinced Pauline, the character beside them, is 100% gonna be released as one of the two next dlc characters!

I personally think that it’s going to be 3DS Shy Guy Bazaar for the unknown track. It was planned to be in 8s original DLC but scrapped for Neo Bowser City. It’s also been shown that Nintendo had Kameks emblem in the files of 8, but when unused until now. I don’t think it’s impossible to see Shy Guy Bazaar show up for the 2nd track of the Spiny Cup

Idk but with the success and the hype around the BCP thus far, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch for them to either add more waves or BCP volume 2. They still have so many tracks to make, and the sales of MK8 have showed no signs of slowing down. I hope we get more waves cause I’d love to see tracks like Toads Factory, Airship Fortress, and like all the BC’s!

I'm honestly surprised they straight up threw 3 curvballs with the DS tracks. Shroom Ridge, Peach Gardens AND Mario Circuit were absolutely not tracks I expected at all, especially since the 1st and 3rd of those hadn’t debuted in Tour by the time they were added to MK8. DS had a lot of tracks in Tour (probably because it was pulling from Wii and 3DS which had a bunch of them), yet those two that they chose were specifically remade for Tour weirdly enough. I'm not complaining necessarily because I think all 3 were solid choices, it's just kinda surprising that they chose them over other fan favourites like Airship Fortress and Luigi's Mansion, both being in Tour for years.

Moonview Highway's inclusion as well as Daisy Cruiser being in Wave 5 completely derailed my predictions so I've been thinking a lot about that last surprise, and I've narrowed it down to a few possible options: GBA Yoshi Desert - no other desert courses predicted for Wave 6, and it's a solid remake in Tour GBA Bowser Castle 4 - I highly doubt they'd put two Bowser Castle tracks in a single wave but this course's Tour remake is so good 3DS Rosalina's Ice World - it would feel strange to not have a snow/ice themed course in the holiday release, and this is the best option. Good thing it's a fantastic course DS Airship Fortress / 3DS Wario Shipyard - less likely since they conflict with existing courses (SNES BC3 and Piranha Plant Cove respectively), but still great courses

My hot take is that the mystery course is GBA Bowser Castle 4. It received a major glow up in Tour this year. Also, Wave 3 didn’t have a Bowser’s Castle track before Rainbow Road (Merry Mountain took that slot). If we’re getting two RRs, maybe GBA Bowser Castle 4 is in 🤔

I studied that prefix leak for too long but finally came up with the idea that it might just be two tour nitros in wave six, and the first mystery prefix in the Acorn cup is a placeholder. With that, here's my predictions. Acorn cup: -Tour Rome Avanti. Obviously -GCN DK Mountain. It probably would move up a few places and its also the most likely GCN course like you said. -DS Airship Fortress. A bit of a hot take but a likely one. I think that since this one's super popular it'd get in past a new nitro track, especially since 3 nitros in one wave is overkill. -Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline. I can only say that i think this one should come first. Spiny Cup: -Tour Who knows what. Obviously. -SNES Bowser Castle 3. There hasn't been a SNES Bowser Castle remade in a mainline Mario Kart yet, so it has to come eventually, especially since it's glow up in Tour as well as the fact that Mario Circuit 3 can't be the ONLY SNES track in the entire pass. -Tour Piranha Plant Cove. I have nothing to say here. -Wii Rainbow Road. This feels like an obvious choice to end it off, but it feels off. Like, 5 Rainbow Roads? Tbh I can only hope for a few more waves and then it'd make more sense.

My honest hopes are that DS gets at least one more track for the big send-off to 8 deluxe, and probably one of the harder ones like Airship Fortress, DS Boswer Castle or DS RR. Wii RR is also iconic and I'd love seeing DS Delphino Square, but I think that Shroom Ridge and DS Mario Circuit fill simukar roles already.

@@HDRookie yeah, looking at the facts, GCN may only have 1 more course to offer, which is either DK Mountain or Dino Dino Jungle, because I doubt they'll put them both on the same wave because of how much they share, and one could argue GCN Wario Colosseum and RR, but there's currently no signs of either coming to Tour, and other games don't really offer much either that could fit in that final wave slot without clashing with a confirmed or already existing set of courses besides Wii and its RR and maybe a GBA course like Yoshi Desert, the latter not looking likely, and its possible they're just gonna wait for the possible September direct to reveal the final nitro so wave 6 still gets "a brand new course" to hype the final wave some more, since they didn't market Merry Mountain as brand new when they revealed it for wave 3, so PPC and PPP probably wouldn't be labeled as brand new tracks either

Great summary! My brain is utterly fried after this morning. I hope the final slot still exists and I do still hope it’s a nitro. Cause the idea of the pipe track (nope I refuse to objectively call it the DS Dokan course) is pretty anticlimactic for the final tour nitro (non city). We’re worlds away from Ninja Hideaway here.

Moonview replaced Acorn 3, which had no prefix. Each track's file name has numbers for the wave and place in each wave it was originally planned for, matching up with the prefix leak. After the shuffling, it looks like wave 6 will have 2 tour cities (Rome & something else), 2 tour nitros (piranha plant cove & pipeline), probably Wii RR and a SNES track, and possibly 2 GCN tracks if neither are getting replaced.

i think the mystery spot belongs to DS Airship Fortress. The Tour remake was strangely high quality and people were quite mad at nintendo for pulling out MARIO CIRCUIT as the “final” DS course. IDK if there is a single nitro that isn’t Wii Rainbow Road that is more requested. I’ve been told that it’s copium and that it’s gonna be Mushroom Bridge, but there is no way that a course that easy will be in the final wave.

Fantastic video and superb analysis. Only a few questions remain, me thinks: 1)DK Mountain or Dino Dino Jungle? A tossup both in terms of which course I want and which I think will actually be included. I like them both quite a bit. 2)Will that last course you mention be a nitro or retro? If a retro, I agree that it could be Airship Fortress among multiple viable options. I don't believe the course will be simplistic in its layout given its wave 6. 3)How will Nintendo surprise us? They did it again with Moonview Highway in wave 5. Will there be the inclusion of a track no one sees coming? Or, perhaps more likely, more new stuff aside from new courses and characters? Items, vehicles, etc.? Three new characters in wave 5 and two in wave 6; I don't envision wave 6 containing less new content than wave 5. It's a good time to be a Mario Kart fan. :)

That last thought is interesting - you have to imagine there is something else. Perhaps battle maps? The surprise track is interesting. It feels like they are locked into 7 options now. Either is definitely possible, but I'd lean closer to Dino Dino simply cause it'd stand out more (it's the only dinosaur centered track, compared to Mountain having a few similarities to DK Summit, though they're still pretty different)

I think the mystery slot is probably a super circuit track. Theres been one track in every wave so far, and it would be kinda weird if that stopped. Vancouver Velocity was one of my most wanted tracks I wanted to see in this game, and I'm so happy that this track is here in mario kart 8 dx's 5th wave! But I still need to figure out though what characters and tracks that will come to the game. I think that Gcn DK mountain, Snes bowser castle 3, and Gcn rainbow road are the most likely tracks to come to the last wave, I don't think Gcn mushroom bridge will get in simply because it's just like Moonview Highway, so I doubt that course would get into the game. I'll be extremely upset if we do not get any bowser castle representation for the last wave though, we need to have a bowser castle course for this last wave, and any of the bowser castle stages will due, I just want at least one bowser castle course to get added to the last wave! Also one more thing, I'm starting to wonder if they will add more characters instead of just adding 2, maybe adding in one more extra slot with 6 more additional characters, besides just the last two to make it feel more complete in that sense. I predict Pauline, and Diddy will make up the first roster, and then the last six would be (King Bom-Omb, Funky Kong, Dixie Kong, Hammer Brother, *With alts*, Monty Mole, & Chargin' Chunk), and then maybe surprise us with new vehicle parts and 4 new battle courses, like Gcn Cookie Land, GBA Battle Course 4, Tour New York Minute B, and Tour Paris Promenade B. But then again I can be very well wrong with this, but these are just my predictions of what will happen in the last wave.

I don’t think a current presence in tour is necessary for a track to be viable as an option in the DLC, some tracks like Shroom Ridge and Waluigi Stadium released in Tour a while after being in the DLC so I think it’s still possible for some tracks not **currently** in tour to be added

The issue here is just that those courses were going to always be in Tour. Around the time Wave 6 comes out, there's not expected to be a bunch of future Tour content. We're nearing the end in that regard. The pickings are much more slim now.

Perhaps Double Dash doesn’t have much in the Booster Course Pass for a similar reason to MK64 (so many of the tracks have already been brought back in previous games that they might be trying to give other games some room for remakes this time around, specifically Super Circuit, because prior to 8’s original DLC and Tour, the GBA tracks were pretty neglected) Apparently a super recent datamine might imply that two more GameCube tracks will still happen anyway, even with Moonview Highway’s existence, so IDK

I kind of believe Moonview replaced SNES BC3 in wave 5, and it wasn't just pushed back to wave 6, but supports my theory that we're getting more waves of the BCP in a volume 2. That way Nintendo can keep making new maps for Tour and preserving them through 8DX, and continue to bring back bangers like Daisy Circuit, Cheep Cheep Island, Dry Dry Ruins, Airship Fortress, Yoshi Desert, etc

Lets be honest, I don't think anyone was expecting Moonview Highway, that alone there being no SNES courses for this wave and 2 Wii courses. That would mean that SNES Bowser Castle 3 is in Wave 6 and swapped the first Wii slot. My guess is that GCN Waluigi Stadium broke Nintendo's plans and the prefix leak (well not broken but changed some orders of the tracks). If my assumption is correct, We are getting not 6 but 7 Wii courses (Wii Rainbow Road) and 3 GCN courses instead of 4 GCN courses and 6 Wii courses if you assumed that with Maple Treeway was swapped with what Waluigi Stadium used to be. Or the mysterious nitro Track that closed for another Wii Track.

i hope the surprise is one of Luigis Mansion, Airship Fortress or Delfino Square. Would also love to see Toads Factory make a return. An underrated one but I also quite liked Shy Guy Bazaar in MK7. I also wonder what Nintendo will do for the next MK game. Will they make an MK9 or just port MK8DX with a new gameplay mechanic (Similar to gliding in MK7 and anti-gravity in MK8) along with another Booster Course Pass in order to keep the game fresh. Mario Kart and Smash Bros are in a weird situation where I dont think another game can top what we currently have in terms of content. Nintendo may choose to do this especially with MK8 selling more than 55m copies. Only time will tell. Whatever happens I hope these track updates continue with future games, they bring so much speculation and excitement to the community!

I did a chart regarding the courses, and my findings resulted in 2 Tour City courses, 2 GCN, 1 SNES, and 3 NEW Tour Nitro. I feel like one of the NEW is an unplanned retro course because 5 Tour courses feel excessive. Plus, the only Tour Nitro courses that have been revealed that are not in Deluxe is Piranha Plant Cove, and the recently revealed Pipe course.

Every track I’ve asked for has been dlc (Coopa Cape, DK Summit, Daisy Cruiser, Waluigi stadium, Rainbow road 3DS, Cocoanut Mall, Peach Garden DS, Maple Tree way, Waluigi Pinball and Moonview Highway). All I need now is DK Mountain GC, Peach Beach GC, Toad Factory Wii, Daisy Circuit Wii, Mario Circuit GC and bowser’s castle either from SNES, GC or Wii. Probably not gonna get even half of these but I’ve been lucky so far

@@HDRookie the way they could make the hotel track work is if you visit 3 or 4 floors out the 10 and in between those floors the road hose outside the hotel, does a 180 turn and back into the hotel and different floor. Just my opinion idk if it’s just time that thinks is cool

I don't know if the new Tour course is MobDK. I remember there being a spider web asset that wasn't assigned to any course, and lo and behold, this new course uses spider web assets. Plus, Tour usually doesn't abbreviate one-word codenames (as seen with MobR), so the new course's filename would most likely be MobD or MobWP. Daisy still has a chance of getting a Nitro track.

Based on how we now know a nitro track got scrapped and Wii Moonview Highway took its place, I feel like wave 6 is pretty locked in for the most part. I believe we'll see: Tour Madrid GCN Mushroom Bridge Piranha Plant Cove SNES Bowser's Castle 3 Tour Rome Avanti GCN DK Mountain Piranha Plant Pipeline Wii Rainbow Road Everything feels pretty much locked in besides the GCN tracks and the Madrid course. It could end up being a different city, but the file name is pointing towards Madrid. Now with the GCN tracks, DK Mountain did get a better Tour remake than DDJ did, but they could still go with DDJ, but DK Mountain seems more plausible. And Mushroom Bridge could end up being a different GCN track, but since there's pretty much no more coming to Tour, its most likely either gonna be Mushroom Bridge, or we're only getting one GCN track this wave and its something else entirely.

I wanna preface this by saying that I like MKWii and played it a ton as a kid. But that being said, Id rather not see another Wii course in Wave 6, and I want to see Double Dash get 2 courses there. Lets face it, Wii has had a track in every wave so far, with 2 now in Wave 5, making a grand total of 9 of the 16 Wii courses in MK8DX, whereas Double Dash didnt even get represented in the BCP until Wave 4, and only has 6 courses in MK8DX as of Wave 5. Id rather not see GCN get a course snuffed out in favor of the 10th Wii course just to appease the Wii fans. Im just hoping they give us two GCN courses like DDJ, Wario Colosseum, GCN Bowsers Castle or GCN Rainbow Road. Double Dash is a sorely underrated game that needs more love and attention, and I think putting 2 GCN courses in Wave 6 would be good for that.

I had the theory of the unknown track to be GBA bowser castle 4 after it's remake in tour, but seeing how the snes Bowser castle will be in wave 6 it ends it's possibilities So far for an orden i have is Acorn cup: - madrid track - unknown track - dino jungle or dk mountain - piranha p. cove Spinny cup: - rome Avanti - that one new track - snes Bowser castle 3 - wii rainbow road

I’m between 3 tracks I truly want for this mystery spot. 1. Mushroom Bridge actually comes back. Probably won’t happen, but I’d love it. 2. Wii DDR. Honestly I want more wii tracks and it’s the best one not in the game yet. 3. Airship fortress. I forgot about this track and I’m now just realizing it’s existence, and I want it. Here's my list of tracks I hope to see in Wave 6 (from each game): SNES - Koopa Troopa Beach N64 - Wario Stadium (the only N64 track to never appear as a classic course yet). GBA - Bowser Castle GCN - Dino Dino Jungle DS - Luigi's Mansion (we already have the battle course from GCN in NSW). Wii - Rainbow Road (should be the last in the whole pass bc it's considered the hardest Rainbow Road). 3DS - Rosalina's Ice World Tour - Indifferent because I never played that one. And I assume they'd put in an all new Nitro course as well. As for characters, I'm pulling for Diddy Kong and Funky Kong, simply because then we'd have the entire Wii roster present in NSW if we did receive them.

I think it’s obvoius. Nintendo scrapped a GCN track for Moonview Highway, so we only get 3 GCN tracks, because that platform has less variety than any other (except the forgettable SNES platform). I don’t know any other GCN that stand out, except DK Mountain or Dino Dino Jungle, which makes one.
