I own one, from 4 years ago. The key action has always felt heavy to me on mine, but acceptable. I recently played a brand new P515 unit in a music store and was surprised that the key action was much lighter, actually just what I would find perfect for myself. Did Yamaha make some changes to the Key bed in the later production of P515 ? Or could the piano I own, be a one off with a stiff key action ?
@michellemonet4358 Жыл бұрын
I also own one but the action is so heavy I have a hard tjme playing it. I have Carpal Tunnel issues so this instrument hurts! Ouch. Anyone know if I can exchange it or return it without the original box?

I bought this piano right after watching this review. Please let me know if you can guide me in the right direction I do not have the capabilities of going to someone to learn the piano. However I have been playing 3 to 4 hours per day for eight months now teaching myself. Is there a online course or online face-to-face course that you would recommend or any recommendations to learning the piano I would greatly appreciate it. Your review was marvelous I just got my P515 in and it is breathtaking.

Hi Drone... Check out piano on 21 Days (internet search). Jacques’ course is snaking, especially if you’re as dedicated as you have indicated. He even has a money back guarantee if it’s not for you! I signed up last month and am amazed by his self-paced teaching program. I won’t get through it in just 21 days, but I already learned more than I have in the last years of trying to teach myself. Best of luck! Paul

Enjoyed your demo very much. However, on virtually ALL of the electric piano sounds and even on the Layer with the Studio Piano and Pad, every time you struck a note firmly, there was an annoying click/pop coming through. Didn't notice this on the acoustics and would have thought you would hear it on your headphones as well. I'm presuming the sound WE are hearing is coming from the Line Out jack/s. Perhaps there is an issue in the Yamaha pre-amps that is clipping on high velocity attacks. I'll have to take my headphones along with me to the store when auditioning this keyboard live. Otherwise, this P515 appears to be a VERY impressive instrument at this price point. It seems to me that many of the legacy manufacturers have "upped their game" after Casio introduced their surprising GP500 Hybrid Piano. To my ear, Roland now appears to be the laggard in reproducing authentic sounding acoustic pianos. Their modelling technology just can't keep abreast of comprehensive sampling now that processing power and memory capabilities have become so inexpensive and allow large polyphony to capture all the sympathetic resonances and other acoustic piano noises to bring forth the detail we're accustomed to with acoustic pianos. Gotta love competition!
@BUJU20074 жыл бұрын
That's his shirt mic picking up his fingers as he smacks the keys. He plays with a more delicate touch on the acoustics voices so you don't here the thump.

Hi, which key action is more confortable, reliable and which feels more balanced and better playing near at the fulcrum between this P515 and Roland FP90?... Thanks!.
@ferdearmas87325 жыл бұрын
Ok Thanks, but please, tell more details in your choice of the Roland over Yamaha?...
@brickmissing82954 жыл бұрын
First impression of my p515 action was excellent. It seemed way more controllable and expressive than the Yamaha’s I owned previously. Over time I’ve come to realise the action does have some drawbacks - the static weight at the end of the keys is about 80-85g which is very heavy compared to the ideal 50g weight of a grand piano - so it can be a bit bruising to play for an extended period. Also the action feels somewhat springy compared to a proper piano. The P515 keys have a small sharp corner on the underside which sometimes catches your thumb when reaching for a wide chord. But overall it’s still very nice - but could be better. I recently tested a Kawai NV10 hybrid and the action is way way better (it should be for £7000) but I felt the sound engine wasn’t as good as Yamaha’s.

Thanks for answer friend, and please tell me your impressions between Roland FP90 and Yamaha P515 key actions and sound connection. Which is your favorite and why?. Cheers!...

There seems to be inconsistencies with the PHA-50, where the bottom keys weigh as much as the top keys. Roland will tell you they never heard of the problem. Just like they never heard about the clicking issues with the PHA4. I wouldn't get a Roland to save my life.

I went to a piano shop to see what they had and left with this thing. I like it a lot BUT the keys are BIG and not as light as a real piano. If you play this all the time and go to a real piano you will notice your speed increases. If you have small fingers this is probably not a good choice!
