I am curious about bodo people adopting Hinduism.Please enlighten who has knowledge regarding this.Tho I know that bodo Christians used to be Hindus before but due to influence they converted into Christian.

A large section of Bodos practice their indigenous faith called Bathouism. It's different from Hinduism. The only thing that connects it to Hinduism is the principle of five elements, also called Panchtatwa in the Vedic scriptures. They had practiced it before Kumar Bhaskar Varma brought Hinduism to Assam in the 7th century. Although Bathouism has undergone reformations, mostly during the 90s to be a more organized religion, the many aspects of the ancient way of worship are still preserved. Late Kalicharan Mech (1860-1938), a religious reformer, introduced the Brahmo Dharma among Bodos during his lifetime. A sizeable number of Bodos also now practice this religion. A lot of Bodo writers and intellectuals were followers of this faith. They have contributed towards the upliftment of the Bodo society.

Bodo-Garo is the name of a group of around 12 languages that share a common ancestor. It doesn't mean Dimasa or Rabha are Bodo. It means Dimasa and Rabha are brothers of Bodo.

Actually what we all face confusion today is mainly due to the word BODO; which was first used by B.H. Hodgson. In his studies about tribes of NE, through the term BODO he included all the tribes like Mess/Mless, Rabhas, Dimasas Boros etc those had a similar language. Today's Boros/Bodos had taken the term BODO as an identity. Where as during first introduction of the word BODO it was not meant for a single community, rather it was for the whole group that spoke languages from a single language family.
