big fan of when dispensaries help patients to become educated on their medicine. many regular pharmacies just give you medicine and send you on your way (at least, in my experience). another reason why i love cannabis as medicine

This was awesome! I had seen that pharmacists can work in dispensaries, but have never seen or met one when I was working at the grow facility and going to our dispensary. Maybe it’s not as common in my state of IL? I’d love an interview where she talks about her career journey. Did she have to go back to school/take additional classes in order to work well in cannabis and in dispensaries? How does her job differ from being a regular pharmacist to a dispensary pharmacist? That interview could be a great way for people to learn about this new job industry that maybe they never thought about! It’d be pretty cool if you actually did a “career in cannabis” interview with a lot of different job sectors in cannabis, like grow manager, grow tech, chemists who make the edibles or vapes, delivery drivers, etc!

CT has pharmaceutical standards for its cannabis projects and requires a pharmacist on site at the dispensary. This is a unique model that may gain popularity in other states. It is very different and does justify a trip to compare. For your other questions you can reach out to Uzma directly as her contact information is provided at the end of the video.

Hey Matt, I was wondering if you could make an instructional video about how to properly interpret research papers? I’ve been reading more and more studies and I feel like it’s hard for rookies to tell if it’s valid or me just cherry picking?

I guess you’ll most likely have to understand the terminology first. Then if you’re not familiar with basic plant biology/morphology, you’ll have to learn that first and foremost. There’s an amazing amount of acronyms, abbreviations and common verbiage that almost become second nature when you’re learning. Including data and citations and references for that data is also highly important.
@OG_VeniVidiVici

@UCUuXxb6mJctk3rk9AXkFZXQ I understand all that stuff. When I don’t, I learn it first then continue reading the papers. In an interview with Chris he talks about determining whether the data is insignificant and that you should check for peer reviews. My question has to do more with how to do that, but I suppose I can just watch some videos on how to do it. I just like Matt’s video style.

@Veni Vidi Vici Damn i don’t know why my name came up like that. But yea cross referencing data is part of determining what’s correct. It’s a science term called “Deductive Reasoning”. You evaluate and dismiss what’s wrong to determine what’s right.

Didnt realize you were based in CT. I hadnt looked into the legal pogram at all simply because i had no need to use it, but i checked out the some dispo websites since theyre opening tomorrow. can you, or anyone else, comment on the absolute bullshit that dispos are selling their products as? or is there some kind of translation guide online somewhere? lol.
@freedom_born
@freedom_born Жыл бұрын
Most dispensaries use grow-ops to source their product from. It’d be pretty hard for a dispo alone to produce its own merchandise. So predominantly it’s not really on them what the product is, they just purchase @wholesale.
@freedom_born
@freedom_born Жыл бұрын
Besides, dispos don’t have the authority or capacity/power to change anything on labels. That’d include breeds, genes, lineage, percentages etc etc… those labels are all government regulated. The breeders and growers determine what the product is called and if the percentages pass tests or not. Not the dispo’s. They just buy the product too.
@radiclelife
@radiclelife Жыл бұрын
@@freedom_born in most states, if not all, it’s illegal for the dispo to directly grow their own cannabis. They can have a separate facility that does the growing, but it cannot be connected to the dispo itself. I’m speaking from a person in IL who worked in a cannabis grow facility who also had dispos located cities away from where we worked And yes, not much can be changed on a label once the state comes back with testing results. Grow facilities must put that on their cultivar’s items and dispensaries cannot alter them. Back in 2015-2018ish when I was living in Los Angeles and in a dispo, things weren’t as regulated and we could literally purchase cannabis from vendors who walked in and made an appt with their product to show the managers. In those days, managers would choose to keep the name the product was given or give it a name that resembled the cannabis cultivar, but was more trendy so it would sell more. Those days were crazy and I didn’t approve of lying to patients who were truly trying to use it for relief. We did get in patients who just wanted to smoke for fun, but still wasn’t right with me

@Jess Noémi Yeah, that’s why I said predominantly - there isn’t really any leeway for a distributor if they’re also producers. Not to mention the upfront costs for both operations. Dispos need to afford retail licenses, taxes, regulatory requirements - then the growers themselves have to test their product for toxicities, have to get licensed, have to conform to state land laws etc etc… there isn’t really any dispo growing for themselves. It isn’t worth the upfront
@freedom_born
@freedom_born Жыл бұрын
@Jess Noémi I think in IL a “caregiver” can grow up to 5 plants or something, but for personal use. I’m unsure whether there’s a height restriction, but non licensed caught growing is a $200 fine (?). Grow ops wouldn’t have those constraints, but they do have to comply with regulations nonetheless, and yea it def wouldn’t be worth a dispo growing 5 plants… or even fronting the costs for both growops and distribution rights. Because i think there could and likely would be a case for market manipulation.
