@grubby124
@grubby124 2 жыл бұрын
@@joeberger3441 Hello Joe, and thanks for the reply. You're correct in that it does occur some time in the future, but it does still continue the Treadstone storyline and closes up some final loose ends on that. However, that being said, it's still Jason Bourne in top form, along with one of the most spectacular car chases ever. For me, that puts it right in there with the original three movies. However, that's just me. I was sad to see Nicki Parsons (Julia Stiles) leave the storyline, but Tommy Lee Jones makes a fine villain, and I'm hoping there will be a future installation that will expand on the role of the new head of the C.I.A. and what changes she might make. There are some interesting new directions the whole series could take if she does indeed end up as the new boss.

Bourne used his passport in Naples because he deliberately wanted to pop the alert with the CIA so he could connect to them and find out what they were doing. He chose Naples because he knew it was a large enough place to have a CIA field office but a secondary one probably less well staffed with lower grade officers than a major city, which made it easier for him to defeat them, learn what he wanted and then escape. They don’t make mistakes. They don’t do random. There’s always a plan.

I liked the fourth film, "The Bourne Legacy," quite a bit. Try and watch it soon after "Ultimatum" as they tie in quite nicely. Another fun spy flick is "Spy Game" with Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. If you want to go retro, maybe try "The Ipcress File" with Michael Caine - that's the first of a trilogy the parts of which are a lot more different from each other than the "Bourne" movies but they're all pretty cool.

26:34 - Secret Policeman/Assassin Kirill was played by Karl Urban. Also known for playing... Judge Dredd (Dredd, 2012), Éomer (Lord of the Rings film series, 2002/3), Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy (Star Trek reboot film series, 2009), Billy Butcher (The Boys television series, 2019-), Skurge (Thor: Ragnarok, 2017), John "Reaper" Grimm (Doom, 2015), and as Vaako (The Chronicles of Riddick, 2004). One of my fave roles of Urban's is as Detective John Kennex in 'Almost Human' television series (2013),' set 35 years into the future when cops in the L.A.P.D. are paired up with lifelike androids. The series only lasted one season of 13 episodes but still worth the watch.

I think I may have mentioned this before, but a film I'm certain you would love is Charade (1963) starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. If you haven't seen it already you should definitely react to it.

Oh, you must see, "The Bourne Ultimatum". It's the best of the three (IMO). Also, and at the same time line as Ultimatum, is the movie, "The Bourne Legacy". While it isn't about Bourne, it's about the newest programs that came after Treadstone and Black Briar. It's an excellent film starring Jeremy Renner, and there are references to Bourne and what was happening in Ultimatum. And finally, the movie, "Jason Bourne" with Matt Damon, and the final film (so far) of the series. While not quite as good as the others, it sure isn't bad and very entertaining and suspenseful. As far as other spy thrillers, "Three Days of the Condor" with Robert Redford was outstanding. The other movie that I think is superb is, "The Conversation" with Gene Hackman. That's a movie well worth watching and I don't think it has been reviewed by any KZbin personality that does what you do. That, I think, is a shame. Anyway, that's my list. And keep doing these movie reactions. You're quite excellent at it!

Remember, if your trying to get away driving a stick shift and have a hand operated emergency brake in the center console, the emergency brake doesn't activate the brake lights. The floor e-brake doesn't either but it's much harder to work that and control the car.

You might like another trilogy. It has a strong female lead and the first installment is called The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I prefer the Swedish TV version but there is a Hollywood version of the first two books in the series. Both are good but they change actresses in the Hollywood version which I find bothersome.

Actually IMHO, the MVP is Paul Greengrass and Tony Gilroy, the director and writer. This story was nothing resembling the books and still worked. Also, Greengrass quick cut direction and handheld camera style was far more suited for the gritty, ground level type of action from Jason Bourne that lets the audience be part of his world. The Bourne trilogy really ruined action movies after that because so many people tried to copy their style in different contexts that wouldn't work, leaving really choppy made films.

Great fun following along with you on Supremacy. I think you will love Ultimatum even more as it has (IMHO) one of the best foot-chase scenes ever done in film. And even though the 4th film is a bit of a step down, I think it's still very much worth watching as it is the most "modern" of the films in terms of technology. I am glad someone mentioned Three Days of the Condor. A great film from the 70's, very fun to look back what was considered "leading edge" stuff at the time. And keeping with Redford, Sneakers as mentioned is an excellent and funny spy-type thriller. And finally, so pleased you were blown away by The Game. I think it's one of David Fincher's (Se7en) most underrated films.

One of the really cool things about this series is that the stories from the books are nothing like the movies. The books are great, the movies are great... they're just very different and this is one series that you can't say "the books were SO much better"... because there can't really be a comparison. Some of the names are the same, some of the locations are the same, but that's pretty much it. Worth the read if you like spy thrillers. Robert Ludlum is the author.

There is a 4th Matt Damon Bourne, 2016 title simply Jason Bourne. There was also a Bourne movie which Damon did not do, called The Bourne Legacy. (Which was not bad, but not as good as the Matt Damon movies.) Great job,Jen! You were nailing those plot points before they happened! Lol 😊😊😊😊
