In one of the most action-packed scenes from The Bourne Ultimatum, Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is in Tangiers, where an assassin named Desh (Joey Ansah) has been tasked with killing Bourne and Nicky (Julia Stiles). With Nicky isolated, Desh goes on the attack, and Bourne has to make a last minute interception, which he does in acrobatic fashion. #TheBourneUltimatum #JasonBourne #MattDamon

I never liked that style of "flash" editing, its un-involving and difficult to follow what is going on, it is all too much of a blur for me....actually that style of "flash" editing has gone out of favour now, it was very much a short lived trend I think, if you watch the bathroom fight scene in Mission Impossible Fallout ,which is 11 years later from this Bourne film, the editing is a completely different style, the shots are much longer and the cuts much fewer, and as a result the action scene is more involving and more exciting, you can really appreciate what is going on rather than everything being a blur due to one second long cuts, the editing in the Bourne film was of its time, the Bond film Quantum Of Solace also employed that " flash" editing style but took it to a ridiculous level where it was just impossible to follow the action, and Daniel Craig did most of his stunts and broke his shoulder in the process but he need not have bothered because the cuts are so fast in the action scenes that it is impossible to tell that it is even him in the scene, you get brief glimpses of his figure , but it might as well have been a stunt man as the shots are never long enough to see what is going on or that it is even Craig actually doing the stunts.

I enjoy the creative choreography/coordination aspects of this part of the movie...but the EXTRA special thing that may be overshadowed by the action here is that Bourne went through all this effort to protect Nikky - not to kill Desh... Bourne's plan was to have Desh lead him to Daniels - but Desh already killed Daniels immediately prior to this...Bourne could have abandoned Nikki altogether, but he chose not to do so...Bourne had somewhat of a pattern showing concern for others...(in B. Identity) he considered the children in both the Wombosi assassination scene and at Ian's home...(in B. Supremacy) he chose not to kill Kirill not only after being shot by him but even more so after knowing Kirill killed Marie - and he (Bourne) considered the feelings of Irina Neski after his own killing of her parents...(in B. Ultimatum) he chose not to have the street market man hurt when he used his grill for the distractive explosion - nor did he kill Paz after Paz had killed Simon Ross and nearly killed Bourne in the car chase/crash...

I wish they could incorporate Paz into another Bourne movie somehow. he damn near instantly converted Paz to a good guy just by his actions of letting him live. Also, the quote he said to him right before he jumped was so badass how they took that from the first movie
@davidseres3030
@davidseres3030 Жыл бұрын
@@GeoJesse Thanks for your comment - an aspect of which brought me back to the memory of Paz's interaction with and surprised look when confronting Bourne on the rooftop...despite the possibility that Paz may have considered Bourne's leap off the rooftop as ultimately suicidal, that Paz hesitated to shoot him altogether prior to that leap could make you consider that Paz could have "turned" given extended opportunities... Somewhat related to your point, prior to Jason Bourne (2016), I had developed a possible storyline (consistent with aspects of the story arc from B. Identity through B. Ultimatum) for a sequel that would have basically been the beginning of an exposure of and positive overhaul of the black ops programs...the inclusion of Paz in the "reformed" agent pool could have been in line with your point...I think I even e-mailed both the William Morris agency and Paul Greengrass...but, alas, Jason Bourne (2016) eventually came out and continued to fuel the black ops flame of the previous 3 Bourne films...overall, I thought Jason Bourne was a fine film - although I was not happy with the major revenge theme...in all fairness, Bourne did display a revengeful attitude in smaller ways in the previous 3 films, but it's prominence in Jason Bourne was disappointing and also somewhat inconsistent with Bourne's prior expressions of remorse and self-control...had Bourne's actions against the Asset been strictly defensive (e.g., if the Asset tried to kill him), I would have felt more comfortable...despite this, I thought the film had worthwhile aspects... On a side note, I enjoyed the offshoot B. Legacy (with Jeremy Renner)... NOTE: As a born-again believer, and from a biblical perspective, while I do believe that unsaved humans can change their behavior (e.g., from evil to good), God's will/desire is dependence upon and empowerment from Him...those who are unsaved are empowered by the old human nature (which when peeled away is evil at it's core)... nevertheless - despite the absence of the acknowledgement of God, of biblical salvation, etc. - what I expressed in the above paragraphs was mainly from the standpoint of positive/moral behavior as an endpoint (that could result from being biblically saved)...I could understand about any confusion about what I mention here...
@GeoJesse
@GeoJesse Жыл бұрын
@@davidseres3030 Jason Bourne was good, but my least favorite of them all. I think the only way they could bring Paz back is if they brought Pam Landy back somehow. Maybe do something where Pam is in charge of some program that would bring Paz and Bourne together. It’s kind of disappointing for them to just leave Paz hanging like that. Like Bourne obviously got to him emotionally and made him realize what he was doing was wrong and you could see in Paz’s reaction by lowering his weapon he realized none of it was worth it after Bourne used the “look at what they make you give” line from the Bourne Identity. It just sucks that we see one of the assassins realize what they’re doing is wrong, but all we see is him lowering his weapon and that’s all there is to it movie wise. Maybe make a Bourne movie with Paz as the main character? Edgar Ramirez is still plenty young to do it. I think it’s totally possible to make a movie with Ramirez playing Paz. Maybe him on the run because his handlers saw he defied his orders? Because he was told to kill Bourne but obviously chose not to shoot him and that is not what the assassins were trained to do. Basically in that moment, he became another Jason Bourne.

@@GeoJesse You had responded during my edit of my most recent response...I appreciate your comments... essentially, my post-B. Ultimatum "sequel" was centered around redemption for Bourne's treatment/emotional pain (etc.) - which included a more ethical ops agency (of which Paz could have been included)...I did include Pam Landy in my storyline...your point about Paz/Ramírez for a Bourne offshoot would have been a consideration...still, given the degree of negative reaction to a Bourneless B. Legacy (and the lack of a sequel to that offshoot storyline) I'm guessing that a Bourneless offshoot with Paz/Ramírez would meet with the same (negative) reactions... blessings...

He switched the gun to his left hand. You can see the switch for a tiny fraction of time during the jump. Look closely at his hands as he goes through the window.

Yeah if you look closely when he jumps, he switches the gun from his right hand to his left hand.

I understand this fight scenes use of quick cuts, edits and the shaky cam was done masterfully as some people have said but I don't know really, looking back at this now and being exposed to martial arts action films like The Raid, some of Jackie Chans Older movies, the Undisputed films, Tony Jaa's Films, Donnie Yens Movies and the john wick films I like my action scenes with wide camera angles, less quick cuts and edits and shaky cam, just pure Adrenaline-Fueled, Kinetic, well-choreographed action scenes and because with fight scene like the ones in the Bourne films it's kind of worn off on me

Sort of me too, but these shots do have the brilliance of both looking planned and unorganized at the exact same time, and in the sort of way a documentarian captures the best he can of it. Besides, it does a little unfair to compare something meant to feel so raw as compared with productions that actually try to make it look more stylized like a classic king fu movie. This is the problem I have with at least some of Cap’s fights in Civil War, though. I like the overall film better than Winter Soldier, in the way that I think they managed to do things even better than Winter Soldier already did. The grittier hand-to-hand fight scenes, not one of them. Those shots were already starting to give me Taken 2 and 3 vibes interns of how they were edited, and parts of it really did add up. What did save it was the rest of the action when the heroes all fight against one another and when Iron Man fights Cap and Bucky. I do find it odd, because I was liking the hand-to-hand fights in Winter Soldier a lot. Those ones occasionally edited stuff up in places where I feel they didn’t have to, but they still have this really pristine way of editing it. The frame rate is also a bit of an issue here. Civil War and Winter Soldier seems to remove some frames whereas this one just lets the normal frame rate set in.

at 4.00 minutes in this clip the bathroom sink ends up on the floor....then at the end it is back on the wall again....just saying.... 🙂....this style of crash editing is just a bit too fast for my eye, it was very much a style back then and the James Bond film Quantum Of Solace took it to a level where it was just about impossible to follow the action...thankfully that style of editing has gone out of favour now and things have slowed down a lot so that you can actually appreciate what is going on in a scene, so by comparison if you watch the bathroom fight scene in Mission Impossible Fallout 2018, the editing in that is so much different, the cuts are much longer and follow a more traditional film editing style, and the result is you get a more exciting and involving experience of a vicious fight!!

Why does no one ever backtrack in these types of situations? Just jump over the roof wait for him to run into the building you just jumped to and then jump back and go back the way you came... there we go, movie over.

I think it would have been better if Bourne picked up the razor and cut open the assassin's jugular vein - just to make sure he's dead.
