I'm a mechanic for a similar pinsetter. More than likely, it was maybe a loose deckboard screw or some junk stuck in the gap between the transport band and the ball door. So for that brief moment, the ball was just spinning against something and scratched the hell out of it.

A brunsick I used to bowl leagues at got new ball returns and on the first league that came in they weren't working correctly and people's balls got stuck in them and it just ate up like 6 bowling balls that night. Needless to say that was an expensive night for the bowling alley.

Hey darren, if you start a pba tournament 1 handed, can you switch to 2 hands in that tournament at any point? If so, i think 1 handed is you best bet right of say 30, and once your forced left of 30 go 2 handed. Your 2 handed game getting around the ball looks alot more comfortable.

Yes it's legal to switch from 1 to 2 handed at any point as long as you ball is drilled correctly and a finger is filling every hole. As long as you are releasing it with the same hand all tournament long it don't matter what style you use.

In the 1980’s, my urethane bowling ball often got gouges taken out of it from the bowling pit that it spent a lot of the time at the pro shop being patched up. I guess it made it one of the world’s hybrid balls. 😂

Bought a HyRoad. 7 frames in, and there was multiple big scratches and a huge piece chipped off. Was so demoralized that I didn't want to bowl the rest of the night.

Wow that is demoralizing. I was at a bar bowling alley and had a 1/2” by 1/8” deep chunk gouged out of my plastic ball. I informed the manager to let him know that his lane needs maintenance. Fortunately, it was an old plastic ball. I would hate for that to happen to a new ball like the hyroad.

They're not but it's good business to keep your customers happy in a dying sport. Most places will at least try to fix the issue if the ball is fixable like scratches, gashes or other marks.

honestly mad respect for them to say that about the balls that got those scratches. my home center after my ball had even deeper gauges and scratches just went " eh we resurface that one on the house, and should be fine" now my ball has no logos no USBC number anymore and right away got new scratches 🙃 always fun having to replace and buy a new ball because of shit like that

Got a ion pro 2 months later it has 2 gashes in it that have now turned into a hairline Crack I stopped throwing it cause it's obvious it'll continue till a chuck of cover stock breaks off was the first ball I've ever bought myself aswell it's a p.o.s i don't recommend
