Shafik and other youth workers from CARE go the extra mile to get past the walls of reserved students. For instance, Shafik once went gardening with a student who loved to eat fruits. “That really got me out of my comfort zone," he shared, “with guidance and mentoring, you have to be creative.”

I was also scared when I was offered to transfer to the Express Stream when I was in NA. But when I accepted the offer and after one year of studying in that stream I found that they offer you the stream for a reason, they realise your true potential to study more and to improve more. No regrets when transferred to Express :) had fun and made new friends

I also got offered to transfer to the express stream. Since I had so little confidence in myself, I ended up being the only one rejecting it despite ranking top1 in my class and possibly in the cohort. I rejected it as I had failed math-49%, but had scored band 1s for all the other subjects. Hope I can pass math next year and transfer again!

I honestly never regretted schooling at BGSS. Especially my form teacher, Miss Leong who never lose hope on us NT students and all of us sticked together from Sec 1 to Sec 4 (also I dont remember anyone in class wanting to go to NA clas) (T2 Class of 09-12)

One of the reasons Japanese schools are so good (I served on my daughters' schools' Board in suburban Tokyo, and was elected "school visitor," curriculum tantoh, within that Board) is that the teachers aim at 100% student success, and do whatever's necessary to get there. "Success" is defined beforehand, command of a given body of curriculum and the steps toward that command. One of the major ways they win is, they enroll all the students as teachers so they don't have to do all the work themselves. Obviously, this is a good idea because it brings more people to bear on the work at hand, educating a bunch of kids. Less obviously, the kids themselves are in much better positions than the single lonely teacher to know who needs what and then to move in on the problem.

this video made me cry because this boy finally believed in himself after his father passed away, something that sums up what I'm struggling with now. this made me feel thankful for the people who believed in me, that I'm good enough, I'm amazing. what kind of magic it is when you realise the power it shifts in your heart like a gentle wave to know that they agree with you too that you're so capable of many things and you're going to continue achieving more milestones.

The fact that I am in express with an estimated L1R5 of 10 and already feel like killing myself and feel like committing suicide just shows that despite Singapore’s good education system, they do it at the expenses of their students.
