That teacher who did not allow him to go to the toilet should be reprimanded, that teacher must be taught a lesson for her wrongdoings. If you're the teacher and you're reading this, I think your ex-student and his parents deserve a sincere apology from you. And to those students who laughed at him, shame on you guys!

NYI YAN MOE HTET For sure, for sure, without a doubt. Yes, sacked means fired for child neglect or abuse if proven - for not allowing him to go to toilet coupled with not cleaning him when she/he must have known that he has soiled himself. The employer/school will typically inform the press that such a person no longer work in the school. Happens every time with abusive staff.

Agreed. Growing up I had a buddy with aspergers and he did poorly in school and was often beat up by his folks. He could draw extremely well. During comic con, I took him and his folder and shoved his artwork before many artists to promote him to them. He gradually got to know more like minded artists and grew in confidence. Today he is a successful animator in Japan and has worked on many popular animes. It is possible.

Sadly, even in animals, lets take for example rabbits, there are forms of discrimination/ jealousy. You can search it up but basically a sloppy eared (the one that doesnt stand) bunny was isolated by other upright long eared bunnys because... of his ears. So this bunny would eat other bunny’s ears bc of his jealousy. Cause and effect. Farmers thought bunnies were being predated but didnt realise that it was the sloppy eared bunny that *was the predator* until they put up cameras for a few weeks. What a world we live in. Edit: grammar

... Watching this... Is like watching my ENTIRE life's story exposed. My wife is sitting next to me saying "it's you!" or, "you JUST said that!". I am 35 years old, with schizophrenia and mild autism. I want Chester to know... I don't care what the rest of the world says, we are people. We're not special. We're not "off". We're not different. We. Are. People. People who care, people who love, people who cry, people who hurt. We have difficulty dealing with "normal" situations, yes... However, we have the same issues as everyone else.... How to deal with a situation we don't feel comfortable with. I'm probably rambling... But I've just never HEARD OF another person so damn close to me that sounds like, acts like and is bothered like me. The birthday thing was the most powerful one... I have NEVER enjoyed the focus on the birthday person. It's just another day to me. I'll stop now with this... Chester... I understand.

You're not sick. He's not sick. Different ways to express oneself is not autism. You're both just right-brain dominant folks. Being artistic and having amplified senses gave it all away. Being right-brained folks in a world dominated by left-brained ones... No wonder people get ostracized.

It's sad that Singaporeans (and the world) discriminates against those who act differently solely on the basis of said difference. The same goes for those with mental illnesses as well. What people don't understand, they push back against. I'm not sure what I can do as an individual frankly, but I hope things improve over time.

He is not sick at all! That's just his character, most people always think you are sick when you do not do what they do and what they like you to do. Some people really like to be alone, do not talk much, and you will be called SICK. How about the reverse, some people like to talk too much and socialize too much . . . . they call that normal???? Why must you act the way that other people like you to act? Why can you not be just yourself???
@honeyhartmr
@honeyhartmr 4 жыл бұрын
I agree. I don't think he sick. I think he is a strong will and stubborn person. Usually when kids act up like this its because they feel sad, not enough love, or something isn't right. My son sometimes acts like this and he'll tell me he just wants to try to do it his way or be himself. My son barely talked until he was three as well. Now hes full of huge vocabularies. I would not say he has anything wrong with him. Not everyone should act or have the same personality. Sometimes I wish parents would stop trying to find something wrong with their kids. All children excel at a different rate. Just be blessed.
@joannerodriguez8912
@joannerodriguez8912 4 жыл бұрын
He is not a sick. He is a adult that wants to do and express his own way. He wanted to feel life without any control and learn from it. That is the problem of... too much in control. When you see your child ready being independent let him feel life out there and not judge his capabilities or else he will act like a child stuck in a room and doesnt want to get out or afraid to get out. I think he is smart than his parents and he is capable to see and knowing things in life than them. The problem for some parents they want to be a parent that is always right. They want to hold that power of authority while instead be just a best friend and guide not control.

Ugh I can’t stand teachers who disallow students from using the restroom. It’s even worse when the teacher says “the lecture is more important”. Honestly I can’t think of anything more dehumanizing than being denied such a basic human necessity! Especially when the restroom is right down the hall and it would only take a few minutes to get there and back!

Yes I agree with you. The Singaporean accent is almost nil and he sounds pretty neutral. Ironically this could be due to being isolated from fellow Singaporeans (other than parents) with less likelihood of picking up Singlish...and perhaps drowning himself in KZbin/CNA instead. .So this could be the silver lining.

My sister is autistic, and while I've gotten mad at the disdainful treatment she got from some people, there are always good people who renewed my hope in humanity. Recently, we were shopping at a craft store and while I was picking things out, my sister was skipping around and giggling. Then, a woman came over to us and handed her a DIY craft kit and passed me the receipt, telling me "No no it's nothing, I just want to give her a gift. I've paid for it already, here's the receipt." I felt like crying at that time. So I just want to let you know that there's so much more acceptance of autistic people in this world now, and there are always good people who understand and accept them for being who they are.

“That’s the most wrong way to make me happy.” *EXACTLY!!* I have Asperger’s and although I’m not hardcore introverted (I do have some wonderful close and casual friends,) I need to mentally prepare ahead of time before I socialize with more than two people. My mom is hardcore extroverted and doesn’t understand my need for peace and quiet. She three me 4 surprise parties when I was a teenager, 3 for my birthday and 1 for graduation. I didn’t cry cuz I wasn’t a kid but I didn’t appreciate the surprise. I love my friends but having them all shout “SURPRISE!” at me really hurt my brain and I couldn’t fully enjoy their company for the rest of the party. Edit: just want to clarify that every autistic person is different and Chester sounds similar but not identical to me when he was a child. For example, I was always fully verbal from 12 months old. I was also a very social child. An introverted one for sure! But introversion doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy socializing, it just means it *drains* you of energy and you need lots of alone-time to recharge.

I’m an English teacher and watch lots of videos from this channel. Of course the Singaporean accent and dialect is just as good as any other but… from an international perspective Chester speaks more clearly, including in terms of intonation, than anyone else I have ever seen here. Really impressive.

My older son has autism & we say people with autism are gifted than others because they can focus 100% on what they are doing without distractions. If most of us can have & understand the gift of mind & capabilities People with autism have, things will be better. I try to see & look @ things through his eyes. Goodluck man, you got this. Your parents, especially your Mom did well by you👌😍🙏

Thank you for Chester and his family for being a light at the end of a tunnel, for sharing their story. I am a teacher in a public school here in the Philippines. We have students who are like Chester and other students as well who can only read our lips when we teach. But parents insist that their children be part of the mainstream. Though we are blessed with a majority of understanding students but coping with the curriculum, socializing and our (teachers') inability to accommodate to these students prove to be both a challenge from both ends.. Hopefully the level of awareness eventually increases so that children/young adults like Chester be eventually fully understood and accepted in society no matter what.

Chester, your descriptions of your life are so helpful and an important teaching tool. You are a wonderful, gifted and beautiful young man and I can tell how proud your Mom is for you. As Autistic Parents we start from nothing and we do our very best to learn along with our child(ren). We make mistakes along the way, that's a given, but we also realize that we are the ones blessed. ❤

Wow! It is so inspiring to watch how he blossom.. cherish and embrace the quirkiness that come with Autism. My son didn't say full sentences til around 5. He aslo struggled with making friends under we moved him to another schools. It is important for parents to educate themselves and their children about Autism.
