Garth Enniss can't write superheroes objectively, every time he writes anyone other than Punisher it's pure shit, the comics are exactly what you thought this show was going to be, the way he writes other marvel characters is downright unprofessional and should've been stopped by an editor.

Oooh man. I've been waiting to hear this one for years. So happy, big fan of the show. Also not a big fan of superhero deconstruction stories, so it's suprising that I think of this as (maybe) my favorite superhero show. The writing and comedy here really win me over.

Honestly wished that Homelander was perfect and just always looked the other way to protect the "Brand" but would never do anything himself. I've only seen 3 episodes, the production value and writing is amazing, but I 'personally' couldn't believe that it's world can let goodness and hope survive.

This is one of the few times where I genuinely believe that the shoe is objectively better than the original The heroes in the comic are at best idiots and at worst cartoonishly evil with gore and misery just for the shock value The show on the other hand has the heroes be realistically bad in a human way and the fire served a purpose rather than pure edge

The Boys Season 1 was solidly good, but unfortunately the show goes downhill in Season 2. The quality of storytelling drops significantly and the political pandering/moralizing is ramped up considerably.

Never has a superhero show squarely captured everyone's big bad in the crosshairs and kept track of it's machinations. Capitalism is studied and critiqued by this series in ways which resist patronising its audience, ultimately succeeding in exploring the negative legacy of Neo liberalism. Season two is amazing, perhaps due to its divisive nature as it pushes the political angle and commentary of the culture war. The comics are great but an entirely different beast. Ennis wanted to reveal the grotesque history and cut throat nature of comics, whereas The Boys on Amazon fixates on the dissonance of a world unaware of the price of hollowing out its values/heroism for money. Homelander is as fascinating as he is scary, and I can't wait to see how this version of evil Superman isn't tired. It's all about using capitalism as the main source of corruption rather than red meteors or Lois Lane's death. Old and mythos based tools to get that walking nightmare in a red cape is where a lot of writers go wrong. Glad you've checked this out Cap, I'd be keen to appear on an episode of your show when you choose to talk about the whole show. Did a video on the show myself on another channel I run, if you're interested in seeing it. Keep watching the show and prepare to take notes! You'll need to if you're ever going to do a rewind on it, as you did for Daredevil. This show has the same level of complexity, far more so than The Tick. I'd be very surprised if you didn't do one given the way your mind considers this kind of tale, as this series is truly transgressive in ways other superhero shows just aren't built to do.
