Discussing how shows like The Boys and Invincible are paving a new way for superhero media. Personally speaking, I think Invincible is pretty mid and Season 4 of The Boys went woke, so all my previous praise is now void. But whatever, I just get paid to write these descriptions.

Boys is quite a pessimistic view of the superhero genre, while invincible is a natural view of the superhero genre, because there are actual good superheroes Many people think of Omniman as the "evil superman archetype" but they forget invincible, who is literally teenage superman, a kind hero trying to protect the planet from evil invaders, only thing different about him is he always gets his ass whooped, but as a comic reader, in season 3 we will finally see him do something amazing (not gonna spoil)

as someone who has read invincible and watched the boys, i will say that these both started off good with some great dynamics but as they went on for, frankly, far too long (i mean, 2003 to 2018?) they eventually became a bunch of gore with some plot and bad storylines that just make you go 'okay, but if there wasnt plot armor, it wouldve ended right here' (that is mostly and issue with the boys, but atom eve just being able to ressurect people because shes stressed out is just plot armor)

Both have their optimistic and pessimistic moments, and both come to a similar conclusion that it is far more difficult to be fully virtuous and honorable in the complex world we live in despite stories of heroes and villains tending to simplify matters, but The Boys generally has a far more pessimistic view of the world as shown through its story. This divide is best shown in how both works portray its various vigilantes (including ones without powers), super-beings and other super-abled/powered individuals, Invincible having many flawed characters while also making sure to note that even the most flawed among them can have virtues to them (as Nolan commits grievous atrocities, yet learns guilt, compassion and humility from experiences as a father and eventually seeks to right what wrongs he can despite knowing he may never be forgiven for what he has already done), while The Boys portrays regular people and supes alike as not only deeply flawed, but often being the villain in either others' stories or their own (chief among them being Butcher and his ever fluctuating, ever degrading sense of morality with his feelings of powerlessness and insecurity pushing him to embrace the most cynical , sociopathic parts of himself to cope). Both works also handle the theme of power and supremacy differently, Invincible tending to portray its various brands of supers at their worst as borderline incompetent and teetering on fully irresponsible, many of them caring more for personal glory than public service until they learn the weight of their responsibilities, while most supers are frauds and corporate products that are part of a species with a growing sub-culture of supremacists considering world domination to spite the humans that use them for entertainment and scientific experimentation. One is obviously problematic on its own (the Viltrumite species being the culmination of Invincible's various instances of supers being egotistical or dismissive of those weaker than them while considering their greedy conquests as acts of charity), but the other practically condemns being super as a source of great suffering not just for regular people, but for supers themselves who are isolated because of their paranormal conditions or experience disabilities because of their conditions. Either way, at their core, these works explore what it means to not just to be a hero, but a good person, and how that relates to having power, but as optimistic or pessimistic each work can be at times, each comes to the conclusion that power alone isn't wholly corruptive, but that it can instead reveal more about an individual to themselves and to others, for better or worse, and that what kind of person is wielding that power does matter.

They have not changed anything, It's clear that you have just little knowledges about the topic you're speaking about. Deconstrutionism of the Superhero genre is something that Marvel had created since his beginning. Then Watchmen and V for Vendetta have taken this to extreme level with great style and artistic value, alongside Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, Spawn and other dark characters in late 80 and 90. The Boys has just bringed on the table edgy and gross moments, in a childish and unfunny way... (in the comics) and they did the same in a softer and more moderate way on the screen, to sell it to a public who wants depraved and gory scenes. Invincible has great ideas on the other hand, but everithing is resolved by Kirkman with shocking moments created just for shock value and many dumb deaths of beloved characters, because without this kind of traumatic stuff the reader will soon be bored by his boring story and dialogue, he is basically the George Martin of comics, great start, but bad development and very disappointing end.

My biggest issue with the show is having Mothers Milk be called Mothers Milk but not having him be a Supe. I can’t believe we’re almost at the last season of the show and they’re just now teasing albeit messily that Marvin is “super” by showing him getting weaker and more frail. @@princetriton1308 seems like a last of us part 2 situation, where a far more skilled writer left, and now a far less skilled co-writer, took over and is just flying solo, completely creatively unrestricted (for the worst) It very clear, the people who had a big hand in making season 1 so good, were not around for the rest of the show, like the quality drop is insane, of course it still has cool moments, but those are due to amazing actors like Jensen ackles, NOT good writing, even then you got the writers working to ruin it, making soldier boy a fraud, when the entire premise of his character is being what modern day heroes pretend to be, aswell a really good representation of discarded veterans who've fought in war, but NOPE just throw in a scene that says his whole story was bullshit, that effects literally nothing, only serving to make his character less interesting and more one note, doesn't even come up again or effect the story, Hughie just gets punched in the face for mentioning it and everyone moves on, like you might aswell actually have soldier boy be a fucking war hero ffs

Honestly I think the main problem with Marvel tv stuff and even DC stuff is eventually you get so many characters (to maximize the IP coverage, of couse) its way harder to have a distinct gimmick(tm) for each of them, whether thats the genre or the tone or the individual power set. Ironically when you ARE successful at that, it makes the minor things that constantly keep repeatin cause they test well or w/e (overly quippy dialogue from non-quippy type characters, Big CG Third Act Fight, etc.) its more prominent than it'd usually be.

For me, i got sick of how soft and cliche marvel was so these shows were very exciting for me. That is why i always loved DC but watching superpowered people become truly terrifying when they became realistic. Omniman, an alien that was a hero but slaughtered all his allies and friends. Aye bro, I just started making videos where I review music, how did you learn to edit? Any software or ways to learn you would recommend

@@ethancarrillo6930 All I really gotta say is, other than getting familiarized with your software, use tutorials. Seems obvious, I know, but that’s all you need. Just search for what you want to do for your video and either search KZbin or Google it. That’s how I got to learn some of the crazier edits. Btw the software I use is Movie Studio 15 (previously Sony Vegas) and I believe it’s available for free on Stream (at least that’s what a friend told me). I hope this helps you :)
