Homelander did start out thinking he could make a positive difference, but his lack of proper training caused multiple casualties, ones that were constantly hidden or justified by Vought. This, his childhood trauma, and the celebrity culture corrupted him. He wasn’t the monster Noir was, and the falsified blackmail materials from Black Noir pushed him into horrible new depths of depravity and insanity, but Homelander didn’t have a high chance at being a good hero while he was under Vought’s control, since Vought manipulates people and ruins/ends lives for their own ends.

Did you suddenly forget that Homelander is the one to initiate Starlight's assault before he every finds out about those photos? No, Homelander was always evil.
@libertinarey2 ай бұрын
@@Daniel-ot4jg and where do you think he learned that behavior from? You assert homelander was always evil, which tbh might be the case, dont think the comics really give us an authoritative answer, but feels in either show or comics the one thing about homelander that is the same is he is a product of nurture over nature, whatever spark of genuine greatness might have been within got twisted and corrupted.

@@Daniel-ot4jg Homelander knew about the pictures far before meeting Starlight, it's part of what The Boys had to blackmail him and why Vought gave them Lamplighter in the first place.

…but it does have a happy ending! 🤣 I remember when I 1st caught sight of this comic, nephew let me read some. My father came over, saw a comic out, saw Homelander. Was all “hey so this guy, he’s a lot like Superman!” “…well sure” “Mind if I read some?” “NO don’t! I mean, well…I’m trying not to touch it, want to sell it” 🤣 so f-ing bleak this comic
@Lucyopps2 ай бұрын
If fair to say the comic goes overboard in violence and theme, but the shows has vastly better due to its story telling. Honestly the comic ending is underwhelming and lame. While hopefully the show which is confirmed going a different direction, will be many times better.

Honestly I liked the twist that Homelander could've been a decent person but was gaslit into believing he was a sociopathic monster one bender away from literally eating babies. It showed just how severely that sort of thing can mess with your entire persona. I agree that the ending itself was a bit underwhelming, though. We did, iirc, get the US military fighting super, though. That could certainly have been expanded into something more interesting. The shows writing is *generally* better, but a lot of the high points they hit are either cribbed directly from the comics or reference stuff that was way more bizarre and interesting in the comics. Overall I'd definitely say the early show stuff was great but it's bee falling off and the latest season is pretty meh. Still somewhat better than the comics but also a bit less interesting if only due to the absence of the absurd spectacle that the comics wallowed in. I mean hell nobody talks about how MMs mom is literally giving him her breastmilk. Homelander in the show's fixation with breastmilk was basically just MM in the comics but we don't talk about it.

So Lamp Lighter is weaker than Golden Boy then right? Same powers but one can do it without the torch

Makes 0 sense to make another stronger clone to kill the first one.. what do you do to the stronger clone then ?? Thays the only dumb thing about the comics
@Bopmyglizz2 ай бұрын
Because the stronger clone was programmed for its purpose to fight the original, the only reason black noir did anything was because he wanted an excuse to fulfill his life purpose. And u see the contingency worked anyway, it left him weak enough to be terminated by human means
