I love how much we’re with the Seven this season, especially Homelander and Starlight. we didn’t get too much of the Seven or other superheroes in the first two seasons, but now that all the characters are established I can’t wait to see this season’s storyline. Antony Starr is still absolutely terrifying. we also got to see how Black Noir got his face fucked up, and how Stan Edgar basically told him so lol. episodes 2 and 3 were fantastic. love this show, so glad it’s back!

@@dammagrilla in season 2 you see Homelander at his most vulnerable. The truth is though he wants to be worshipped, in actual fact he does want love. The relationship between him and his soon blossomed especially in the scene where he took his son back to the cabin after experiencing anxiety. You see him become a little vulnerable towards him in a comforting way. Which was the most human side we ever saw. Though he doesn't understand the concept of love because he never experienced it, they were moments he did show it. In the trailer bus when he bought a bunch of flowers for stormfront was him again expressing his love towards her. When she got severely injured in season 2 at the end, you could see the sorrow in his eyes of watching the one person he actually cared about on the brink of death. They have been human moments within Homelander that have shown his vulnerable side.

They were both raised in brutal environments where love was never shown (Childhood upbringing), they both lost a person they cared about (Becca and Stormfront), they both will protect the person they care about (hughie and ryan). Their level of brutality is extreme and they'll both stop at nothing to destroy each other even if it means that they'll be alot of casualties in the process.

My main concern at the moment is the break from tradition so to speak. Just before the release of the first two seasons, Amazon announced the following season had been greenlit. I know Karl Urban has stated he is scheduled to shoot Season 4 through to the end of the year, but it is unusual that Amazon hasn't officially announced the renewal yet.

That "Thanus" scene is foreshadowing how crazy and deprived this season is going to be. I also feel like there's a real family throughline this season either biological or adopted, which leads me to believe there will be more reveals along those lines. Perhaps Noir and Edgar are brothers and their relationship will mirror A-train and his brother's relationship only in a negative light. Maybe that's why black noir is so loyal to Edgar. Just a thought.

I didn’t think of that, but now that you mention it, I believe the “weapon” had to be a Super.. specifically one that has laser eyes and was younger and not able to control his powers, possibly a young Homelander, because if you compare his damage to what Ryan did to StormFront it’s almost exactly the same, and also I’m willing to wager that Noir died and “Black Noir” has actually just been Soldier boy the entire time.

The online content and Diabolical all have running threads through this season. Cameron Coleman had his segments on KZbin. Highly recommend it. And then I noticed connections from diabolical. Red River is seen in “Messed up supes kill their parents” the whole adoption of baby supes through Vought is seen on “super baby’s day out”. We even get to see the temporary compound v being tested. I’m worried about it’s side effects for Butcher after seeing what happened in that one episode. You don’t need to see Diabolical or the Cameron Coleman (think it is called 7 on 7) to get season 3 but if you like hidden clues, extra connections etc. then both are good watches.

I’ve read most of the comics, and I have to say that I’m enjoying the tv show way more. I always thought the comic was to over the top and, well, “comic bookish”. However, there are scenes in the show that have such an ominous weight to them that I find myself feeling as trapped as those in the show. The comic never came close to any of that.

The show is markedly better than the comic books, for sure. What the show runners have done for this show is almost like what a really good editor would do to a first or second draft of a script. Rework, rewrite where necessary, and change around the stuff that didn’t work (in my opinion) in the comics. The overall ideas of the comics were intriguing and solid, but the execution of the show is a vast improvement. The show just seems to really stick the landing, whereas the comics didn’t (not always, anyway).

What is the situation with Ep 3 where Butcher and The Boys are leaving the safehouse? Seems like Butcher is done with Grace Mallory now, will she show up again this season? What about Ryan? Butcher seemed to give Ryan hell all because of his discussion with Grace, or was this always how he felt about Ryan because he killed Becca? Is Ryan now going to start wanting his Dad to show up, as it feels like he has no one else who understands him except Homelander.

We did learn that in season 2, Butcher doesn't care about Ryan. Only took care of him only because of Becca. And I think Ryan is gonna have a shift in character like he did in season 2 where Homelander showed him the truth, siding with Homelander but he'll soon realize he did the wrong thing. He will probably be reminded of his mom and change back for the good. As for Mallory, she'll definitely show up again amidst the chaos of Butcher trying to find the weapon that 'killed' Soldier Boy or will interfere later on possibly doing something that will kill her while helping Butcher.

I think Butcher pushing Ryan away was his attempt at protecting Ryan and Mallory. When they first showed up, Butcher asked if the location was safe and Mallory said that them coming to visit was likely to lead trouble to her and Ryan. I think Butcher realized while coming off of the V24 that things had become a lot more dangerous than they had been, and he wanted to sever his tie with Ryan as every time Ryan would contact him or he would visit Ryan, the chances of Ryan being found would increase. Going no contact was the safest option, but he decided to make Ryan hate him rather than just say it was too dangerous for them to call and visit.

It’s not his fault overall it’s homelanders. Butch knows that’s not fair. I do think he cares for Ryan and wants too. But the gloves are off and it will protect Ryan. But that was a terrible way to go about it
