0:11 I love the little detail of Mapleshade having *four* hearts surrounding her, but Appledusk only having *one.* Even if it wasn't intentional, it's absolutely amazing, because it really shows how obsessed Mapleshade was, and how little care Appledusk had to her. Edit: I do know that Appledusk cared for her enough to have kits with her, but she was always the side chick. I feel like Apple had a right to be pissed over Maple (unintentionally) killing their kits, even if him “cheating” on Maple was wrong.

I adore everything in this video; the character designs (i adore how goofy/ lazy and apple shaped appledusk is and i love the shape of his mouth for some reason. Also devil maple design is my beloved), the colours, editing and just the whole aesthetic in general. The RL imagery is fun as well and also helps with some of the creepiness. The shot where maple is holding appledusks head is fun but also really creepy, especially with the hints of obsessiveness that maple shows, really helps with it. There's also the part where apple looks uncomf and it transitions to him in a birdcage, like she wishes to trap him. Overall, this video is fun and I love it dearly. Great job!

This is one of the best artistic renditions of Mapleshade’s Vengeance I’ve ever seen before. The combination of the horror undertones and the meme-y graphics and expressions makes for an even more chilling experience, as well as puts a light to the fact that this is what we (i.e. the warriors fandom) read as children. In the beginning of the book it literally outright implies that in the beginning she planned on using them as tools to keep Appledusk stuck in a relationship. She is entirely possessive,obsessive, and extremely reckless with secrets that need to be kept and the lives of their kits. Anyone who can’t or who doesn’t want to see that is blind. You saying that she loved them was just basic maternal instinct that anyone with a uterus that’s given birth can experience. Which would explain why multiple characters in the series for example rainflower started neglecting storm(crooked)kit when she thought he’d die thinking that it’s better not to waste resources on someone who’d die therefore she only focused on oakkit that’s a literal example of feelings out of instinct so you can’t deny it 💀

MapleShade did very terrible things, but I still think her love for her children was more than just instinct in the books. If anything, with that, that could be applied to ANY mother in the book: I could say Bluestar only loved her children due to maternal instinct, or Dovewing only loved her kits due to maternal instinct, etc etc. We really can’t know for sure. @@Ivemovedlmao The she-cats are the ones that make the choice to have and keep the kits. They don’t do it for "pleasure".(Anyone who says they do is a weirdo and should stop s3xual1z1ng cats.) If they choose to have one-night stands, get pregnant, and expect the father to be present, they are literally trapping themselves and a cat who was probably not ready to settle down. And especially putting themselves in danger of unnecessary punishment if they’re mating with a cat from another clan. And it’s outwardly shown in the series that every cat prefers and values their duties within the clans. An example of it would be why Hollyleaf didn’t want kits. They have the ability to just not have kits if they do please. All motherly characters in the series experience maternal instincts until the Erins decide to actually do something with their characters and develop their instincts into actual love and adoration rather than leaving them to be mindless queens. Mapleshade is manipulative and obsessive, and there is absolutely no doubt about that. She mates with Appledusk solely to stake a claim on him, and when Appledusk asked if Starclan approved, she manipulated him with the excuse that Starclan doesn't mind, brushed off his concerns about how their clan mates would feel, and told him her delusional plan of raising them to be loyal to both River and Thunderclan, which ultimately resulted in their deaths because she was so reckless with their secret.
