Well earlier this year you had advised me to jump straight to Beolab 8’s but I couldn’t resist getting a Balance for a discount. This video among many others of yours helped me make that decision, so thank you for the help! The beam direction control was extremely important to me so that’s what sold me on it. I was ok with a single speaker because there wouldn’t have been enough room for a traditional stereo setup anyways for where I wanted it to go, and this seemed like the best option for a single speaker with beam control.

@@Mikipedia After much thought, I'm much more of an earbuds fan so I can wait until a next-gen Beoplay EX comes out. I wanted to like the H100 because it's brand new but in any situations where I would be using it I would rather use speakers, and they wouldn't be appropriate for gym use, which is when the Beoplay EX is used. In the meantime I got a Beosound A1 and I'm really happy with it. I was surprised at how satisfying it is just to use one of them. So basically what I thought was going to be a Balance (way overpowered for me) turned into an A1.

It seems that the Balance has a technology adopted from the 90 and 50. I highly appreciate it, however it’s my opinion that it is not so striking looking like Beosound 2 :-(. So far, I personally prefer the 2, due to the striking looks. What do you think? Which one do you prefer?

I like them both and I think it may be on purpose that it's not so in your face, believe it or not but not everyone likes that much aluminium (blasphemy :p). If the trade of is alu for this much more power then I personally don't think is a bad trade. It maybe something you look at less because it's not as pretty, but you'll listen to it more as the sound is huge, clear and detailed. If you can, go see it IRL, it's worth it :)

Thank you for this video. I went into my nearest B&O showroom today with the intention of buying the Balance. However, they also had the BS2 next to it. When comparing the two side by side by listening to them, I found the BS2 sound to be superior both in terms of bass and clarity. When we turned the volume up, there was quite a bit of distortion on the balance whereas there was none on the BS2. I find this to be so strange since on paper, the Balance should be so much better. I bought the BS2 in the end. I wonder if the demonstrator had not set up the speakers correctly?

It sure sounds like it, yes. That's a bit unfortunate to hear honestly. When you run room compensation it obviously adjust to how the surroundings are and it makes a world of difference as it knows how to respond to the room/place it's in. @Mikipedia4 жыл бұрын
104 db spl if I recall correctly
@brouztube84 жыл бұрын
Wow! Amazing for a speaker of this size! I just checked on B&O official website and made the bellow specs comparison between the A9 (with Google assistant) and the Beosound Balance. The A9 has only a 100 dB SPL maximum loudness compare to the 104 of the Beosound Balance. For bass, the former has 2 woofers drivers of 5,25” fed with 2 class D amplifiers at 200 W for each woofer while the A9 has one woofer fed with 1 class D amplifier at 400 W. For midrange, only the A9 has 2 x 3” midrange drivers fed by 2 class D amplifiers at 200 W each. The Beosound seams to have no midrange drivers. For full range, while the A9 has 2x1/1/2” full range drivers fed by 2 class D amplifiers at 200 W each, the Beosound Balance has 2x3” full range drivers and 2x2” full range drivers each fed at 100 W each. Finally, while the A9 has 2x3/4” tweeters fed with 2 class D amplifiers at 150 W each, the Beosound Balance has 1x3/4 tweeters fed by 1 class D amplifier at 80 W. The same specs continue to suggest the A9 for a room size between 150 and 1000 square feet while the Beosound Balance is recommended for a room size between 100 and 600 square feet. My point is that I remain astound that the Beosound Balance reaches a maximum loudness of 104 dB SPL while the bigger A9 is behind at 100 dB SPL. I will really appreciate, if possible, that some lights be shed here. Otherwise, this situation could require, among others, two solutions: 1/ the price tag of the A9 should be reconsidered or 2/ the A9 needs some serious updates to increase its maximum loudness and some other specs perhaps better justify the difference in the price tag among the two speakers. Personally, I have in mind an A9 as a future purchase. I love its originality among all other B&O speaker design. If it should be updated as suggested by me, I will than wait for this updated version of the A9. For example, the current A9 works with Bluetooth 4.2 while the Beosound Balance works with Bluetooth 5.0 which is 2x faster, has 4x the range of its predecessor and download 8x data. Keep alive the flame of those who continue to believe in B&O’s unique way of bringing together art and technology. Kudos for your KZbin channel.

I would use airplay 2 or chrome cast if at all possible, Bluetooth is a back up option for me. Therefor I wouldn't pay too much attention to that spec and also I have the H4 headphones with BT 4.2 and I can walk away from my phone for atleast 12 meter/ 40 feet with walls in between, so I doubt 5.0 is actually 4x better(iam sure it's better but not that much). Depending on how big the room is, if it's on the smaller end I'd go with the balance. If it's on the larger end like a living room, I'd go with the A9. Iam sure the balance could reach 104db, but that doesn't mean all of the frequency band reaches that. With the A9 more of the frequency range will hit that maximum and we know for sure the bass will hit 94 db which is incredibly loud. If you need it this loud a lot of the time you're probably deaf and or looking at the wrong speaker lol

@@piffling do you mean this in general? or in my video? or specifically with the Beosound Balance? I ask because I don't find this at all in my case. I generally check with good headphones too once in a while an I have a hard time noticing any sort of quality drop(if any at all) over AP2, depending on that I do I use Deezer hifi (the highest quality one) and just KZbin(tried others too). I don't use Chrome-cast personally, only AP2, and I've had no connection issues. If anything it's really strong and I can leave the house be at the end of the network(which is really far) and it's fine. I have a 2 second buffer setup with Deezer so maybe that helps? I also set AP2 from my phone and never from with in what ever app I am using, maybe that helps too? I do agree on the beolink decision though, we'll see what they have in stock for us :p
