N'Dea Davenport was offered a job at Madonna's side for the 1990 Blond Ambition Tour. She turned it down to accept the job in Brand New Heavies. You can still hear N'Dea singing backup for Madonna on her 1990 album "I'm Breathless".

The Heavies were a great Acid Jazz group up there with Jamiroquai , and Incognito

They were all very close. The heavies helped Jay Kay from Jamiroquai on his first album. Zender from Jamiroquai played bass on a number of Incognito songs.

In 2023, this song still slaps! 🔥Thanks, Cory. Yup, Jack, their whole sound was consistently more analog. And shout out to the comments giving N’Dea, a former Madonna backup singer, her flowers. What a voice and sis is a great live performer! Stage presence for days!! ❤️🖤💚

Omg finally you reacted to one of my most favorite songs and British band of all time!!! ❤❤❤
@Josh-wu7kz Жыл бұрын
Can you really call them a British band? It’s a bit like fleetwood mac, Stevie Nicks adds so much.
@jesusebelortuazon9847 Жыл бұрын
@@Josh-wu7kz they are British...despite the many times that they've changed their lead vocalist..the guys of the the said band are British and started in their early years without a vocalist until N''dea came along and catapulted them to stardom with this iconic song never stop, along with songs like stay this way, midnight at the Oasis and you are the universe which at that time they had a new lead vocalist which I think is the background vocalist of the great Michael Jackson and an American.
@gabrielmcdonnell8699 Жыл бұрын
I’ve always considered them British despite N’Dea being from the US. They had more in common with, say, Jamiroquai and The Chimes than, for example, Mint Condition and Jodeci. As an R&B head who was in college when BNH debuted, they were a welcome, throwback vibe. ✌🏽
@jesusebelortuazon9847 Жыл бұрын
@@gabrielmcdonnell8699 they were sensational...and very refreshing to see and hear their music, their vibe and their individual distinct fashion. ♥️ I even used this song as a background music on our fashion show way back in college and my collection then was a fusion of plastic and metal for club wear and it was a blast. 😊

OMG, I ❤❤❤❤ this song and N'Dea Davenport and The Heavies, my Brit Soul Brothas!! I still jam to this record to this day, know every word and riff, including N'Dea's adlibs and the always funky guitar licks and basslines!! They weren't the same band when N'Dea left and they had to replace her. Oh, that genre was ACID JAZZ. Check out Jamiroquai!!! Yo man, this MADE you and your channel WAAAY COOLER!! Oh, it was from !91, the year my brain, eyes and ears as a kid got opened to all kinds of possibilities in the universe.
@LYBism Жыл бұрын
BNH started out as a boy band. Jason Kay of Jamiroquai did some work with them. It's rumored that he auditioned for lead for this group. I don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, thank God he did not get the lead. We needed him doing his thing with his group and we needed N'Dea Davenport doing her thing with this group.
