I have a 2019 Grom I bought in September of 2018 and still love it! All I wanted was something small to cruise around my neighborhood and run errands on, it's perfect for me and I don't want anything else. I wish the newer version was available then, I had to upgrade to Ohlins suspension, the stock rear coil was not adjustable and it bottomed out easily, and the forks were too soft for me. I also needed a better seat so the Corbin fit the bill. I would love a 5th gear and a regular oil filter, but at this point I probably won't upgrade. Honda definitely fixed what needed to be fixed with the 2022 Grom!

Would I trade my Grom for a new one? Definitely not. Would I buy a new one outright? Absolutely. My Grom is worth more to me than what I’d get trading it in, especially with some mods. Say what you will, I think the 4 speed is geared well for my type of riding; 4th is a decent cruising gear (c’mon, it’s a 125!) and 3rd is geared well to downshift into for climbing a hill. The gear position indicator is a welcome addition as is the oil filter. The new one will still have shortcomings, but nothing the aftermarket won’t take care of for 99% of owners. There's advantage having 5 gears especially on the highway, if you match the speed rpms on the 4 gears will be a bit higher, top speed will be no different however. This is where a lot of people get confused, having more gears doesn't its faster. The advantage of having 4 gears is its geared low and you don't have to downshift a lot when tackling hills.

I own a Benelli TNT 135 I have 10,500 miles on it runs great 68 mph GPS top speed. I think it's a great bike . I could not get over 60 with Grom. The Benelli has oil cooler and a real oil filter.

Just saw this review months later. I live in 🇨🇦 and the only Grom available is the SP for 2022. That includes the ABS model. Our dealer has a non ABS model on the floor so I ordered an ABS model a couple a weeks ago and hoping to receive it before spring🤞. Best part is it’s only $500 more than 🇺🇸 prices when you add ABS and the SP options in 🇺🇸. Nice addition to my fleet.

The Benelli looks awesome in person, especially that green color. I don’t know how it drives, but the speedometer lies and says it’s about 7-10 mph faster than it really is. I have a 2020 Grom that I got almost a month ago. I saw the new one coming out and liked the current one more, at least the looks of it. This new 22 model looks like the OG version with some ugly pronounced screw holes for some reason. I still may end up buying another one to compare, but I think the second gen looks the most aggressive.

Most motorcycle dealers have b.s costs tacked on its not just Honda. Bikes are just like cars you can haggle at some dealerships a few hundred here and there and if the dealer refuses to lower the price just walk out and go some place else🤷‍♂️

I was looking at the benelli tnt 135 is a great bike I took one for a test ride. The speedo is way out thoughts the top speed is the same as a Honda grom as the benelli is heavier. I’m really thinking of buying the new black 2022 Honda grom.

Just bring sports bike like CBR 125RR and 250RR to US( the current CBR 250R look so plain and boring).) Get some 150cc dual sport also(CRF 150L). Not everybody’s 6 ft or taller.

Should look up the Yamaha YSR I had one . Not that many made and I have rode the Bonelli my friend has one it’s nice but it doesn’t have a lot of power and for some reason it just doesn’t feel as tight as Honda and I’m Italian and I can admit it it just feels a little rigid I will say the seat is pretty comfortable and it is a little bit taller send a grom And also I think Kawasaki only uses 10 inch rims versus Honda uses 12 inch I know their tires a smaller some of my buddies have them and they are a lot smaller than the Hondas

Honda build quality is top notch and especially on the Monkey 🐒 . I'm a little older and like the style and metal better. I like to cruise back roads and some forest service roads, so wanted something more relaxed then my FZ6 but not to replace it. Found a slightly used Kymco Spade 150 for $1900 and figured I'd give the mini moto a try. Having a blast and love the UJM style (not a stunting type of rider). 12hp, 5 speed and will cruise at 55-60mph nicely stock (tops out in the high 60's for me). I think the 5 speed is a good move on Honda's part.

Had a z125 for a while and got rid of it a few months back. I’ve really been missing it lately, so much fun to hop on and head out for a quick little 20min ride! Not the same with a big bike. Personally I am curious how much of an improvement, if any, the 5th gear on the new Grom will be.

The Honda will probably releade another retro minibike reusing many parts from the Monkey and the CT, Honda is developing a new pressed steel frame technology which will probably be used on the new Honda Dax (2022?). Young Machine Magazine has been publishing rumours around it for over a year now

They are made in Thailand. But Honda isn't the only one making bikes in Thailand these days some really good bikes are being manufactured there. Thailand has a huge bike culture and produce some of the worlds nicest custom motorcycles also. I wouldn't worry about a drop in quality from a Thai made bike.

The older groms have more of a sharp body in the plastics. Do you think these new groms will have aftermarket plastics similar? I really like the 22 grom with the abs and added gear but I also like the older sharper style. I'd get a new if I can give it that sharp look.
