I just bought one of these - it's now 2023 - and I'm upgrading from a 2140. WOW. Thanks for highlighting all the basics - I appreciate knowing about the aluminum base, the thread stands, etc. I cannot wait to start sewing.

Do you do machine repairs in your shop in Hennessey? I have a 75-yr old Pfaff 230 that I would like to treat to a tune-up. I bought her reconditioned in 1973 and have recently started having some issues, I think with tension. If you reply here with a yes, I'll phone you.

I have the Performance Icon and my bottom stitches are wobbly. I cannot find any info as to how to fix this. I tried the straight stitch bobbin case but this did not help and I cannot find any info on when to use this bobbin case?
@PrairieQuilt2 жыл бұрын
Good Morning Michelle. The straight stitch bobbin case should be used when sewing a straight stitch and the needle position has been moved to the left. There is a little Icon on the information section of your screen that looks like a little bobbin case that will pop up next to the feed dogs and IDT symbol. As far as your stitches being wobbly, this could be a bad or old needle or the type of thread being used or a tension issue. If you have re-threaded your machine both top and bobbin and changed the needle and tried a different thread and it is still not looking good I would recommend finding a local machine repair person to check the tension of your machine and also your bobbin case tension. If you live close to us we have a full time machine repair person that would be happy to help you out if you could bring in your machine. I hope this is helpful. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. -Amber

@@PrairieQuilt Thank you for your response. I guess I don’t understand the purpose of the straight stitch bobbin case? I’ve had my machine for a year but got so frustrated with it that I put it away 8 months ago. The dealership I bought it from is not knowledgeable regarding the machine and I feel like I’m imposing when I ask questions.

Thank you for this video! Hopefully this is just the first of many on how to use this machine. I just got this machine from my husband, I love it! When I was scrolling through the designs for the stitches & I spotted 2 music notes, and then I seen music notes in the onboard designs too. now that I want to find them to use them I can't, do you have Stitch numbers for them by any chance? I am more interested in the Stitch one then the design one

Hi, does this machine sew Leather? Will it sew a top stitch on leather when making bags?
@jennaarmerding816 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I'd buy a vintage Singer 201-2 or something similar for that. Less than $500 (as low as $200). This is an awesome machine, but if that's all you're looking for vintage is the way to go.

@@jennaarmerding81 Or a pre-2000 Pfaff. Pfaffs then had industrial rotary hooks and could sew through anything. 80s/90s Pfaffs will actually be nicer than the Icon in terms of quality, but obviously won't have a touch screen, automatic threader etc. The Icon is cool, but there are so, so many things that could go wrong and render the machine useless; not to mention a lot of modern electronics have planned obsolescence built in. Not saying this does, but it's so hard to trust any company these days, especially SVP.

We all know what happens when technology break down, not repairable or the cost of a new machine, and it happens all too often and way to soon. Few of these machines will pass 5 years.
@PrairieQuilt2 жыл бұрын
Your comment was so intriguing. I am sure what you say is true about some brands, but not about Pfaff. It is the workhorse of the industry, built to last a long time and will certainly last more than five years. I must assume you have never owned a Pfaff machine or your comment would not be negative.
@3goldfinger2 жыл бұрын
@@PrairieQuilt I have two Pfaff's, one 1027 and one 1152, still going so far, but it is only a matter of time before the nylon gears fail, that's why they sell spare gears on Ebay. Plenty of KZbin videos on failed newer Phaff and other machines failure due to broken gears or electronics not repairable or too costly, a very sad affair in otherwise well respected brands.

It’s hilarious that people go on and on about sewing 9 layers of 10 ounce denim, when dedicated straight stitch machines and MOST other modern machines will do this with absolutely NO problem whatsoever! Overpriced, Chinese sewing machines only enrich the evil government of China!
