If they don't succeed, they're not happy that others are succeeding. They don't just want to see things fail, they also get in the way. They create unfounded controversies to try to keep people. Brazil is disappointing. No wonder all the smart people leave this country. If the 171 were developers from anywhere else in the world, they would be applauded for what they've achieved and for the hardships Brazilians face, but in Brazil, they demand rockstar quality from a bunch of poor beggars. most defenitely a GTA came can only cover a small place in amerika.. but the world has much more to offer then "just" america. GTA clones in Brazil, Australia, Germany, England, France, Afrika, Japan etc. would be absolutely awesome. kinda like Fallout England (fanmade mod add on) has done. and dont forget a GTA (clone) playing in the past .. how great would that be? Maybe in the 70ths or so. thats exactly what we need. also Rockstar needs competition so badly!! So they cant pull off like the definitive edition again... and they have to reduce micro transactions etc. and rather focus on better contend and story. competition is much needed for those big players in the gaming industry. i woud gladly work on such an project.

Rockstar is really the only studio that can make an open world life type of game that works and feels alive. No other gaming company can develop an entire state with cities and working traffic. It’s probably the most complicated type of game to make. Look at red dead 2. There is no studio that can compare with that game.

​@@delamain611 Mafia, WatchDogs, Saints Row, Far Cry, Just Cause and Cyberpunk.. ^^ They are not exactly what GTA is, but they could defenitely turn more into the style of GTA, if the studios wanted. Rockstar is currently defenitely the best in doing it. But new developers commonly show that many talented new people can close the gap to big studios. they just need enough support with kickstarters. And especially with the new engines, all the assets and easier implementation and the use of AI, those smaller developers could defenitely create awesome games. but funding is always a problem but time will tell i guess.

I really think it's aimed at players in south america, where PS5 and high hands pc are probably rarer. It's probably meant to offer a decent GTA-like experience on medium computers for south americans. Different market, not really competing with rockstar i think Edit : Rarer.... in people's house. I disagree with a lot of the video because there's a lot of distorted information, but I understand your mistake if you did it all by yourself, since you're not from Brazil that's tolerable. The problem is that a lot of the misinformation you mentioned in the video is from Brazilians, and it's almost normal for people here to make mistakes, most of them are ignorant and dishonest, especially the person responsible for creating all this controversy you mentioned, because that person has been trying to destroy this project for years, the only thing left is to try to create childish controversies out of desperation. The game didn't raise millions in the Kickstarter campaign as stated at the beginning of the video, at the end you gave the approximate amount correctly. The game had 2 donation campaigns in the beginning, and that money went to the creation of the pre-alpha and the alpha. Today the game is maintained by the money from sales. The team consisted of 7 people until the alpha was finished. After the sales, they increased the team and today, according to the latest information, they have 30 people working on the game. They never said they were trying to compete with GTA, because that would be a joke. Billions invested in GTA are a pittance for 171. It's like trying to compare a mansion with a neighborhood house. The actual problem is that brazilians see problems on everything. We have one of the most jealous and envy people in the world, if you do something good, get something good, or start something as a newbie, people here tend to hate you and try to get you down just because they can't do it or have it. As a brazilian, the hate behind 171 is not proportional. It's an underappreciated project considering our industry is bad, surging one game like this only after 5 years or so. There's even a popular phrase here "If you can't have it, they also can't have it" Thats why our Industry doesnt progress, people hate the success of others here. Even if it's made of paid assets, it's actually a pretty awesome game considering our resources! Developers needs to stay strong on this project, people forget that this isnt even BETA, it's ALPHA.

As a brazilian and someone that has been following this project for a while, I think people are very naive to expect a group of 7 people to make a proper GTA-style game, let alone unexperienced devs. It's just not how it works. Now, I do admit I don't know much about game development, but I do know that you can't start big and expect things to work out for you. You gotta make smaller projects, see how people react to them, gather experience and a proper team throughout the years before you embark on such ambitions. The 171 team is bitting more than what they can chew, and that's not good. On that note also, were people ACTUALLY expecting a group of 7 people to make coding, assets, mechanics, etc. from the ground up? LMAO it was obvious they were gonna use assets! From what I've seen, even experienced devs struggle with making things from scratch and often take years to do so. Expecting them to create everything from scratch is stupid on the part of the backers and everyone else following the project.

@@ivanmbdtf To keep it short, UE5 has a lot of tools that are supposed to help performance, mainly Nanite meshing, and AI up-scaling, the issue is that a lot of developers instead of seeing those as tools to gain performance, see them as an excuse to not spend time optimizing their game, and hoping UE5 can just make up for it. On top of that, unless they were working in UE4, porting a large game to a new engine is a huge task, even if it was originally in UE4, it would be a lot of work to port it UE5. I hope they can pull it off though.

Well, I live very close to the Independence Museum and I was really impressed with the level of detail! I hope they get to finish the game and actually profit from it. Not to compete with Rockstar bc we know it’s impossible, but at least for them to get enough exposure to maybe get a job in a major studio

The claim about them buying assets is only half true... because the game's city doesn't look like an American city (which I assume is what 99% of assets a based on). It looks like a Brazilian city, with houses that a very very very very specific design that is common, the cars and bikes are all Brazilian too (I mean, just look at that car from a propane company. That is 100% Brazilian 3:51). On the city you can also see posters in Brazilian Portuguese and all the objects are based on Brazilian products (beer, etc). Hell, the cops cars are the used by the police in São Paulo... I think they made all these things themselves.
