As a New Zealander I’m very happy semi automatic guns were banned, as are the vast majority of kiwis. The statistics don’t lie. In countries that have more liberal gun ownership, and hence more guns, more people die by guns. It’s that simple. Just look at your own country with its gun obsession. There’s a mass shooting on a weekly basis! How’s the “more guns means less crime” working out for your country. Not so I good I’m guessing. No one outside of the armed forces needs a semi or fully automatic weapon that is designed to do one thing. Kill more people. And I’m very happy to live in a country where I don’t need to carry a gun, because the next guy might be.

One statistic that wasan't brougt up in this video is that, while overall homocides did in fact diminished a bit under Bolsonaro, the number of GUN homocides increased significantly during his presidency. Any informed Brazilian anti-gun advocate would know this and TOLD Vice. The only possible explanation for them to omit this Very easily accesable information is that Vice knew that would not jell Very well with their mostly north-american audience, sice its only one more objective fact that proves that giving Guns to the populos increases the number of both deaths and crimes no matter the context and there fore should never be done under any circunstance.
@518trey1 Жыл бұрын
Gun homicides or gun deaths? Two totally different things your blending. For example suicides or defensive gun use. An inadequate justice system. Maybe the citizens are getting back what they lost? What about uprisings against gangs? The gangs don’t have to actively be trying to do something for people to want to kill them.
@whiterock1865 Жыл бұрын
That's a bit simplistic and leaves a lot of room for assumptions you can make to support your stance. Now all these homicides, how many were self-defense? How many were home invaders getting killed? Do the stats for all these increased homicides make the distinction of why the person was killed or is every firearm related death considered a homicide? These distinctions are incredibly important to make in any honest analysis. Further the NRA tends to be demonized by the left in the this country, much like the right demonizes planned parenthood...the bottom line is the NRA is a civilian private membership organization with the task of forming a collective to support gun rights retention in this country. While they are dealing with a bit of internal corruption at the moment, like many large organizations, that will hopefully lead to a purge and new leadership. So to imply that the interest in firearms only exists because it was "imported" from the US is remarkably simplistic. How about the cause of people wanting to own guns is because everytime they walk out their door they fear getting mugged, raped, and not even safe in their own homes? While opening firearm ownership up to civilians does definitely have room for abuse, limiting the access just keeps the law abiding disarmed. As stated in the video, the criminals have always had access to firearms. Freedom is not free...

So why is the Czech Republic one of the safest countries on the planet when it has constitutionally enshrined firearms rights and shall issue concealed handgun licenses for everyday citizens? Gun rights became re-enshrined in law after the fall of communism in the Czech Republic (then Czechoslovakia) and there was a massive surge in civilian gun ownership from the 1990s through the present day in CZ. Yet, somehow CZ is a safer country than it was in the 1980s (again one of the safest in the world, Prague is guaranteed to be safer than whatever city you live in) despite your claim that "guns to the populos increases the number of both deaths and crimes no matter the context and there fore should never be done under any circunstance".
