Chewing gum actually helps me focus when I'm drumming. Back in high school, our WGI drumline director would let us chew gum during rehearsals. Kept our brains occupied while playing through our parts. Something about it. Also, behind the kit, it keeps you from getting the "wide open drummer mouth" thing, Lol.
