I really hope Mac McClung gets a call up. Me personally, I would rather go overseas and get the bag. Only way I'm staying in the G-League is if I already have money or come from a rich family to where I'll be good regardless, like a LiAngelo Ball. Playing overseas and getting the bag doesn't only benefit you, you can put your whole family in a better situation and change their lives forever. And as a pro athlete, you only have a limited time to maximize your potential. Next season isn't gauranteed, so why not make the most of it while you still can. And traveling to different countries really helps you grow as a person. I moved back to Nigeria in 2014 and lived there for 8 years. Life there was not easy by any means. But living overseas away from your family and friends, you really learn a lot about yourself. And you really find out how resilient and tough you really are. And you will come back home a completely different person with a whole new mindset. I wouldn't change my experience in Nigeria for anything. And I hope to one day travel to all 7 continents

It’s all about knowing your role. A lot of undersized guards fall in love w/ the outside shot and hover around 38-42% from the field. Mac needs to embrace his strengths. Players get so caught up with the dream of playing in the league and make poor financial decisions. @yekutielbenheshel354 Жыл бұрын
I agree. He could go to, for example, Europe or China, end up with a few million dollars in the bank after, say, 3 to 5 years (until his body holds out). He'd end up with a nice-sized nest egg. I realize it's tough for a guy like Mac who has always made it to the next level. He thinks he's close to playing in the NBA, but he really isn't. Small white Americans aren't as rare as small ethnically Chinese guys (such as Jeremy Lin) in the NBA, but I suspect the league office pushed the Bulls, Lakers, and Warriors to give Mac a look-see because the NBA's marketing folks would really like to see Mac playing in the NBA. The problem is that production folks (GMs and coaches) aren't worried much about marketing; their primary focus is on winning. I presume there's no way they want a guy like Mac on their team. He's not good enough to play in the NBA... not even close. He's wasting his time and squandering the chance to make easy money overseas by chasing an unrealistic dream. He needs to get a new team of advisors to guide him. His current team is misguiding him.

@yekutielbenheshel354 Жыл бұрын
@@jonisafreak3 Actually, I don't remember, "that red headed guy that got drafted to the warriors and left for overseas immediately after his rookie season." Mac Mcclung has a problem. He feels like he is close to making it in the NBA. He isn't but the NBA is apparently misleading him (3 call ups by the Lakers, Bulls, and Warriors and G league MVP) because, I suppose the NBA marketing brass in the league office assume that Mac Mcclung would help them market the NBA. Obviously, there aren't many short white guys who can jump like Mac and play basketball as well as he does. The GMs and head coaches, on the other hand aren't willing to "take one for the team." In this case, the team is the NBA as a collective entity, not any one particular team (franchise). I am merely guessing, but I guess that Jeremy Lin was forced on a bunch of teams because the NBA marketing brass in the league office desperately wanted (and still desperately want) a Chinese national, or at least an ethnically Chinese man, to play in the NBA. I suppose that if Mac were ethnically Chinese he'd be in the NBA now. On the other hand, I suppose that if he were ethnically black African (North Africa has around two hundred million non-blacks who, of course, are Africans), I suppose he'd never have been given any ten day contracts and would almost certainly have gone overseas by now. Some commentators on KZbin think Mac is being discriminated against because he's white. I strongly disagree. I contend he's being given preferential treatment because he's white.

Man, at least if he went overseas he can make good money and still has the chance to get called from the NBA if he does right over there.
@godbodyrock Жыл бұрын
this man broke Iverson.s state scoring record in VA as a high schooler...but when you see cats in the league it.s hard to quantify how athletic and skilled these dudes are...like you think no one plays defense in the league but peep: the offense is just that good...dudes hitting all net with a stretch hand all in your face...very small margin for error...they have dudes on the bench who can heat up in spurts...his game does not compliment the nuances of the league...at least not as demonstrated right now...but grind is what makes the man so I mos def want to see him shine...his passion will elevate his chances...

Yeah I’d consider getting paid overseas. The int’l game has gotten a lot better. Plus, NBA scouts still keep an eye out for overseas talent

Going overseas is not always the same. Actually is far from it. If he has offers from top EUROLEAGUE teams then he should definetly grab that. Top notch basketball in good cities.
@montrazoliver5731 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think overseas should be your pro debut. Once he establish a nba spot then he can go overseas if he’s cut and then come back. But if his first. Gig is overseas idk
@drippenbach Жыл бұрын
the whole point is that overseas competition is easier compared to the United States. He is trying to satisfy his dream of playing in the league and is afraid by taking what is being given to him. He will not have the opportunity to make it back to the United States.

If he can’t make the nba, the next best place is the Spanish league but I am sure the scouts there would have already brought him over if they though he was good enough… some of the Spanish teams like Real Madrid can beat some of the NBA teams…

He’s had decent opportunities so I believe this season is his last chance. Everyone knows him and has kept an eye but tbh if he wants to really make the league he’s gotta be more of a pure point guard

Playing overseas may actually be a better chance to improve the fundemantals he lacks. While the Euroleague doesn't have as much talent as nba, the competition over there is much more fierce than especially regular NBA season. Also playing basketball the right way is pretty much a must. He would have a chance to polish his game against pros, and experience immense pressure.

Nah, his IQ isn't uo to par yet. He needs to go overseas and learn the right way to use his skills. He's trying too hard to be a 3pt shooter when that's not his game. He needs to learn to drive to the basket more and become a good passer. That's what his skill set leans more towards. Instead he's trying to do step back 3s like he's James Harden. If he doesn't do that then he's never going to be in the NBA. And in the limited run time he got on an NBA floor, he was mediocre at best. He played in Chicago and LA.

In my opinion, he should move overseas, play in Europe for 3 years, make millions of dollars, get more experience, and then try to come back to the NBA, more mature and with your future guaranteed. He won´t be young forever, and he could get hurt and end his career. Europe is amazing, he would fall in love with the atmosphere there, and he would surely be more valorized there. What is better, to be an all-star in Europe and make millions or a Gleague player, and a role player in the NBA who only plays in garbage time and make little money?
